FINALLY tried this place after several attempts, but it was worth it. I tried their bbq Louisiana spicy links which came with potatoe salad, pork and beans, and bread. It was well seasoned &LOVED the potatoe salad(because everyone can’t make it). For dessert, I made my own dessert platter which included Peach cobbler, chocolate cake and pound cake. They ALL were delish! Even though the pound cake wasn’t as moist as I’m used to, it still was a heavy cake that had the right amount of sweetness to it. The chocolate cake just melted in your mouth. DEFINITELY will be returning to try other things.

Five stars baby! I’m a sucker for genuine customer service. I noticed a new barn front small restaurant a few months back and often wondered as I passed by what kind of food do they sale? One day when I was passing by I was able to read BBQ on the building after that it was added to LadyT’s list of foodies to try. I’m really pleased I did! I encountered a beautiful soul at the drive– up window a very pleasant kind soft spoken grams. First encounter– check– 5 stars! O’ my goodies, listening to grams’ pleasant voice as she named off her menu to me gave me a natural foodie high. All of the Soul food delicates I so crave, but I don’t know how to cook… I order her rib and sausage combo with BBQ beans, and potato salad. For dessert a slice of home made pecan pie. Yum! Yum! Foodies! The home made sausage was D’ lish! It had a spicy southern delightful meaty flavor. The ribs were from a good cut of beef– tender, moist, and hardly any fat– plus taste good to my mouth! And the Pecan pie was rich in taste with a flaky crust, but not the fall apart flaky. I will be back. On my next visit I will order oxtails or fried fish…}|{

Yes! Quick! Before it gets swamped and while they tinker with what side recipes their customers want, go to this shack-up in the Hooters parking lot. BBQ, catfish and soul food, and refreshments(non-alcoholic) are served to take home at this one knight’s stand. At lunch, there was no pick-up line… I was the only customer. They’ve only been open 4 days as of this writing. Location: If you are driving west on FM1960W, there is a small red building hidden from view by the large Hooters. The BBQ smoker is a stone’s throw behind the shack, and Smokin’ Joe runs that operation. Reasons to go: — This family-run shack offers some fresh, tasty food(none of that re-heated frozen stuff). — The family is genuine, nice and just fun to talk to while they prepare food. They make you feel at home, or better, like you are a guest to their home. — They are eager to please, and are trying to find which recipes their customers like. So, offer your opinions freely. As they get more customer traffic, it will be challenging to handle the logistics in that small place, and they probably won’t have time to chat with customers as much. Menu: They say it will change each week, but they will always offer BBQ and fried catfish. What may change the most are the soul food sides. And this is their strength. Several types of homemade sausages are also available. My combo plate order: BBQ ribs had good flavor, but was a bit on the dry side. Louisiana hot sausage was good … a bit crumbly but thankfully not greasy. The homemade BBQ sauce is well-balanced and has very good flavor. Baby lima beans: I am normally not a big fan of these, but I highly recommended these. Cole slaw … Custom!(so far) The owner is currently making trying what customers like before he settles on one style. Skip the bottled drinks and get homemade punch tea. I got the mango, and it was more fruity than tea, but good, nonetheless. They have one table outside, and no indoor seating(even for the cooks). The price was a bit high for the quantity I received. But, I will be back. And this time, I’ll order dessert. Dee apparently makes some great desserts, too. I had a hoot writing this review.
