This review will probably sound crazy. I actually went to Shannon for a beer. Yes, I had received their mailers for engagement ring sales, one of which offered a cold one for single guys. Well I have no shame, and without much to do one Saturday I decided to check them out, and low and behold, their marketing manager emerged with a Shiner!
I think that’s a fun story, but how about the business itself? Well, I’m not in jewelry stores very often other than to have watch batteries replaced, but I felt completely at ease. Debbie and Larry were awesome as they showed me their watch selection and were totally patient while explaining the particulars of mechanical watches. As I thought about buying the watch I admired, they were prompt and professional in their email communication. They went over all of the extensive services they offered, such as cleaning, adjustments, etc. I was so glad that they were located so conveniently to where I live.
Needless to say I had to return a week later to officially become a customer. I feel like I have «my» jeweler now.

I went all over trying to find a place that would repair my 20 year old bracelet and Shannon’s was the only place who would work on it and even had it ready within 2 days during the holiday season. I won’t go anywhere else for repairs or fine jewelry. They really work to please you.

I’m very happy with our experience at Shannon. My wife and I brought in my 9 month old wedding set whose base metal had started looking tarnished and dull, looking to replace the reset the solitaire in a new ring. Deborah went over many different options I have for resetting my original engagement stone and choosing a new matching wedding band. My wife and I were on a limited budget, and she worked within our means and together we designed a new setting that is much more beautiful than my old design. They had it made, set, and soldered both rings in just one week. We’ll return to Shannon in the future.

I have been interested in Shannon’s Fine Jewelry since they were in their previous location — also on FM 1960. I was new to the area and was looking for an independent jeweler rather than a chain store since I had been fortunate enough to have one when I lived in downtown Houston.
Over the years since the first time I went in their store, I have come to feel welcome whether I was bringing in old jewelry to be repaired or looking for a new watch for my husband. They readily (and skillfully) repair and/​or replace parts of old jewelry and make alterations in new jewelry that has an issue such as a new gift ring that is not fitting quite right. I greatly appreciated that when I inherited some jewelry from my mom. They have a fine selection of consigned jewelry as well as a wide price range of beautiful estate jewelry.
The unexpected treats are the skilled jeweler in the «workroom» with a glass window, the fact that they not only sell fine watches — they are certified to maintain and repair many if not all of them and the personnel who greet a customer as a friend and either know or can find the answers to questions I have had. While I certainly am not a big spender on jewelry, these are people I have come to trust and count on.

We have been coming to Shannon’s for 15 years. We have bought some stellar pieces from them. They have also done some outstanding custom work for us. Their knowledge and creativity are amazing! John knows my style & taste and alway has wonderful ideas for me. They always make us feel welcome and it’s obvious they love what they do. Jewelry shopping is always fun, but they take it over the top!!!

Very nice service. I had my ring sized a size smaller here and they did a great job. I can’t even tell that the ring was sized. I def recommend this place for jewelry repairs.

I had my ring cleaned, and reshaped here. They did a marvelous job, and had some absolutely fabulous customer service as well! I will be coming back for future cleanings for sure!

We had been here once before and got attentive service, so I was a little surprised on our second visit, when we were completely ignored by the salesman who was helping someone else in the area we were shopping in. No «I will be right with you in a moment «or «Let me finish with these customers & I can help you» or anything. We were just flat our ignored. We continued to look at the wedding rings & pointed things out to one another and then decided to head to the door, when a totally different salesman (actually the same guy who helped us on our first visit) stepped toward us as we were preparing to leave. Ultimately we did purchase our wedding bands from here and we got a great deal on a band that compliments my engagement ring well. Nice selection and good prices.

I had been a good customer of Shannon’s for the past three years or so. However… I was in the store on December 1, 2012. I had a big birthday coming up, and was there looking for a pair of earrings to put on my wish list. While there, my iPhone was stolen. I had looked all over the store, and the security guard had come out to my car with me to look underneath it. Other than one salesperson there, I could not get anyone to listen to me. I went back home and used the find my iPhone feature, tracked it back to the store. It had been turned on, then off. Upon returning to the store, I was greeted with «Looks to me like it is across the street» from one salesperson. (I had logged on to ‘find my iPhone on their computer). After being unable to get anyone to really listen and take me seriously, I announced that I was calling the police, which I did. Before I was actually connected to the police, I heard someone say «I found it’. My phone was in the men’s restroom. AND… it had been taken out of my purse by an employee of the store. I was treated shabbily, and I had been a good customer. BEWARE… Shannon’s employs felony thieves at their store.
I was told that the security guard was fired there, but was he just a scapegoat? Beware shopping here!

I took my daughter’s David Yurman ring into Shannon’s to be sized. I convinced my daughter that they could do the job versus having to drive to the Galleria. When we dropped it off, they also assured my daughter that they could do the job. I picked up her ring to find that they had completely destroyed it. The sizing looked like an amateur had attempted their first metal working. Instead of being the Yurman cable, they had «smooth» metal inside the ring and a crude attempt on the outside. The ring isn’t even round anymore, and the profile clearly shows what they added. Yurman pieces are pieces of ART. When you ruin a piece of art, you should realize you have to pay for it. I did not pay for this botched attempt to size this ring, but now I have a completely devalued piece that I am going to have to take into Yurman to have restored. Who knows how much that is going to cost. I was shocked at the blasé attitude of the personnel at Shannon when faced with a customer who was as upset as I was, and their complete lack of appropriate response. No, I shouldn’t have to pay for your botched work, but I also shouldn’t have to pay to restore this ring because this $ 700 ring is now worth about $ 25. NEVER again will I darken the door of what I once thought was the finest jeweler in Northwest Houston.

The bad review kinda scared me from coming in here, but my coworkers swear that Shannon Fine Jewelry was a good place.
They resized my engagment ring and cleaned it. They did a great job on it with great customer service. I took one star off because it was pretty pricey! I got quotes from other places for about 35 – 40 to resize. Shannon charged around 75 to resize the ring. Wedding was only 2 days away, so I decided what the heck.
Good service and good job, would go back there again.

Where do I begin? First of all, I had a wedding set made by Shannon’s w/​my own gold & diamonds in 2007. The ring set was supposed to look very similar to my friend’s wedding set, which they also designed & made. Last summer I saw my friend (1^st time since my wedding) and we compared our rings and discovered that they did not look very similar at all. This upset me since I had specifically asked for my rings to look like hers! After seeing my friend’s ring next to mine I could clearly see the differences and it all made sense as to why I had been so unhappy with my ring. I went back to Shannon’s with my friend and spoke with one of the owners about my findings. I pointed out that my set looked nothing like my friend’s & I wanted to know how this could have happened since my friend was there when we first discussed making my ring to look like hers in the first place! I also noted that somehow they managed to make the ring entirely too big! Nearly a whole size too big! How does that even happen? This time I suggested that they take pics of my friend’s ring for future use and asked what it would take to re-​make my set to look more like my friends. They said they would not charge me any labor fees and that they needed to trade out all of my diamonds (minus the center) to accomplish this, which would cost $ 1500.00. That seemed a bit expensive since I felt this was mainly their mistake. A Mistake that could have been avoided had they communicated w/​me better. I reluctantly agreed because I thought I would finally be getting the ring I really wanted. That was not the case… before going any further both owners requested that my friend come back to the store Again so they could view her ring once more before re-​making mine. Seriously? This was their «Original» design that they had created, plus had already taken pics of last time! And now they want to look at it again for a 3^rd Time! My friend is pretty irritated at this since she is extremely busy and drives from Magnolia each time to do this! How Many Times Do You Need To See YOUR OWN DESIGN to proceed with an almost near replica of it??? Now, I had even begun to lose confidence in their ability to do this. After discussing the new design once again with the owners, I wait for the wax to arrive for approval. After more time goes by I go to view the wax and discover yet again that it is WRONG! I stood there w/​my mother and one owner for over an hour trying to figure out what all is missing, inaccurate or incorrect. Very Ridiculous & Frustrating! After I scrutinized over the pics of my friend’s ring & pointed out all of the changes that needed to be made, the owner exclaims to me «I think we are Finally on the same page!!» Holy Moly! Really? It suddenly dawns on me at this moment that they, (The Owners), are NOT DESIGNERS! They are merely just Salesmen behind a counter with only knowledge of diamonds and metals! That’s It… A truly talented designer would not have had a problem with this at all. It Amazed me that they could not successfully re-​create (their) design w/​only minor changes to it. B/​c this appeared to be too big a challenge, I canceled the plans to change the design of my ring & asked them to simply size it down for me instead. They responded by telling me that it would take them an additional week and it would be $ 135.00 to size it! They have had my rings since July 2010 and it is almost November when I told them NO THANK YOU! I WILL COME AND PICK IT UP AS IS… The incorrect size of my ring was clearly not my fault & they should have sized it for me at no charge. For anyone wanting to design jewelry, I highly Do Not Recommend going to Shannon’s since the owner’s are most definitely not equipped to do so. Maybe, if they had their Jewelers on the sales floor to help with the designing process, it would probably clear up A Lot of Confusion, Frustration, & Incompetency when trying to create or re-​create a design

Shannon’s is a great place to take your jewelry in for repair. I have taken my diamond engagement ring in for a resizing and also a repair, and both times the ring came back looking marvelous. Since my ring is an heirloom ring from 1961, they even gave me some help and advice on the repair and how a certain repair would make it more durable.
The salespeople were very friendly and helpful, and the repair job and sizing were done meticulously.
