Established in 2006.

Four former Harris County Prosecutors with years of remarkable success in the courtroom, joined forces to form the law firm of Capitaine, Shellist, Peebles & McAlister, LLP. They are a team of trial lawyers dedicated to vigorously protecting the rights of their clients. Christian F. Capitaine, Steven D. Shellist, Peyton Peebles, and Sean T. McAlister work together on each client’s case from the plea bargaining phase all the way up through trial.

Business Owner

Steven D. Shellist graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Texas, Austin in 1991. After working in the business world for a number of years, he made a life-​changing decision to follow his dream of becoming a lawyer. He attended South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. After graduating from law school, he accepted a position with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA.). He had a record of winning over 90% of those trials.

As a founding partner of Capitaine, Shellist, Peebles and McAlister, L.L.P., he takes on a limited number of clients and has defended all types and levels of criminal offenses ranging from DWIs (Driving While Intoxicated) to Capital Murders. He has handled State and Federal cases involving seven-​figure healthcare fraud indictments. Due to his training and experience as a Prosecutor, combined with the relationships that he has forged with Judges and Prosecutors alike.
