St Theresa Catholic Church

We were new to Houston and tried over 6 Catholic Churches. We became members and really loved how welcomed we felt. It was very upbeat and enjoyed the music and father Phil! We have moved and miss St. Theresa’s!

So peaceful. I’m so grateful there’s a Catholic Church next to my house. I feel so blessed.

Do not send your child to this school. I am withdrawing my child from this school. My child attended for 2 ½ years. The principal is very unprofessional, not qualified, and vindictive. She is known for bullying her staff and the parents. She got rid of my child’s 3^rd grade teacher 2 yrs ago because the teacher begin questioning her about missing budget money. The teacher was dismissed with 3 weeks remaining in the school year. The kids cried for the entire 3 weeks! The principal placed the teacher under a «gag» order whereas if she communicated with the parents, students, or staff, she would not receive her remaining salary. I found this out from the «expelled» teacher. This year she threatened to expel my daughter, (who has NEVER been in ANY trouble) because she didn’t like that I told her my child needed to go to her locker to retrieve her study guide for a test after school dismissal. I pay FULL tuition at the school and participated in multiple fundraising events. I was actively involved in my daughter’s school. When the incident with the locker occurred, the principal also threatened to call the police for me… based on (her exact words) «abusive language». I don’t like to be threatened, so I told her while she stood in front of me blocking my 9 yr old’s path to her locker; I’d call the police for her via my cell phone. I called 911 and the operator said NOT TO EXPECT A VISIT, because abusive language was not an offense. Please note I NEVER USED VULGARITY OR PROFANITY WITH THE PRINCIPAL. She just felt she could intimidate me like she does her staff and the other parents. Nevertheless I made both threats her reality. She threatened to call the police, I called 911 for her. Proving to her, she could not intimidate a paying parent who follows the rules. Secondly, she threatened to expel my daughter, who had NEVER been in any trouble at the school… I sent the principal a withdrawal letter removing my child from the school 5 hours later. If you don’t want to experience the bullying and intimidation tactics of this principal, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. I’m financially able to pay full tuition anywhere and I have a child who can get accepted to other schools, hence I was able to not let this lady push me around like the does her staff and the other parents. Oh, by the way, my 9 yr old daughter was standing there crying and begging the principal while she threatened to expel her and to call the police for her mother. My child only wanted to go to her locker to get her study materials for her test, after I had gone through the pick up line, so she could make a passing grade on her test

I have attended St. Theresa-​Memorial Park for over 10 years (maybe 15 at this point…). I was also married here in 2005, and have been involved in many ministries since I joined the parish. It is a wonderful, welcoming parish, in a beautiful location (right in the middle of Memorial Park). There are multiple Mass times to choose from, and it is a wonderful worship experience. As an added bonus, the music is fantastic, and we have excellent homilists as well. St. Theresa has an excellent Catholic school as well, for Pre-​K through 8^th Grade. Daycare is also available, starting as early as 6 weeks of age.

I just started searching around for Catholic Churches. So far this place is by far in the lead for me to call home. The service is enjoyable. The people are very welcoming and it’s very convenient as far as parking and service hours.

Came here for my cousin’s baptism and it was a beautiful church. The courtyard is perfect for pictures and reflection. The deacon was wonderful with explaining baptism and didn’t let anyone feel «bad» for being a «CEO» Catholic. I’d attend this church more often if I lived closer.

BEST CHURCH EVER!!! FATHER PHIL IS AMAZING!!! My fiancé and I joined the parish in 2012 and will be getting married by Father Phil this up and coming March! It is such a blessing to have found a CATHOLIC CHURH that is not boring. We get so much out of every mass that we attend. Everyone is just wonderful.

We are so happy to have found this parish for our family. The parish as a whole. .. from the priest to the receptionist, from the greeters to the school staff are all kind, welcoming, and accommodating. The church is just right for us: homilies that aren’t dumbed down (and yet not boring either!) and that preach the Gospel and adhere to the teachings of the Church without alienating or condemning. We attend the 10am Sunday Mass, which has a lot of young families (including ours), so be prepared to have a few distractions during that Mass. The choir at that Mass is AMAZING, too. We enjoy the old-​school post-​Vatican II worship we grew up with, so if that’s what you’re in to, they have it. There’s also a more contemporary Mass on Sunday evenings, plus a Spanish Mass, a quieter, older crowd Saturday Vigil, and a 8 am Mass I’ve never managed to make it to. And like another reviewer said, they are very welcoming and people from all walks of life are truly welcomed. We look forward to growing as a family in and with this parish.

St. Theresa-​Memorial Park has been our church for about 10 years. We came here from another nearby parish and that is the same story for a lot of people we have met here. We all agree that it just felt right when we found St. T. We did not know a single soul when came here but now have many close friends.
It is a hidden gem, but worth looking for. Super location at the edge of Memorial Park. It is not unusual to see runners and golfers pop in for mass.
Very diverse: students, singles, couples, young families, seniors; all kinds, all walks. All are truly welcome here. Each Sunday obligation mass has a different «flavor», so try another if you aren’t feeling the right fit. Also, our pastor Fr. Phil is awesome.
Check us out. You will not be just another name on the parish roll. Join a club, a ministry or a class and you will meet lots of really genuinely nice people.
I really encourage runners to come by. My dream is to have a runners’ mass maybe once a month, I think that would be really cool!
P. S. I give 5 Stars because I love this church, but I know it is not perfect. We are working on some physical changes right now that will make St. Theresa’s 5 Stars plus!

A Catholic church in Memorial Park. I did not know that such a place existed and I’ve been running here for the last few months wondering what kind of church it was. I usually dread going to church. However, going to church is less of a hassle since this particular house of worship is in the same area where I spend alot of time. So last Sunday, I was able to get my weekly long run in, attended mass for Palm Sunday and check out the Bayou City Arts Festival without having to drive all over town. They also had Shipley’s Do-​nuts after mass, which I had to eat and donated a few dollars to the donut fund. With Holy Week going on at the time of this review, it seems like I will be attending mass at this church again.
