Easily 10*. This is my all time favorite no nonsense«hole in the wall» Tex-Mex food in Houston for more than 15 years now. This place is so legit the only thing missing is cockroach! BEST Breakfast burrito in Houston period!!! Be sure to ask for their chili-con-queso! Sooooo good! Notice** If you haven’t been cultured, this place isn’t for you.

Green sauce is bomb. Tortilla chips to serve with were fresh & warm. Service not so great. when walking in, waiter asked was I ready to order and I didn’t even get a menu til I asked for one 5 mins settling in already eating chips. Food came out really quick though! It was good, staff isn’t quite up to speed, but the kitchen came through to save the day. Oh & it’s pretty cheap!

This place is amazing and a bit difficult to find, as the signage isn’t easy to read from 249. But once you get inside, its your typical Mexican restaurant… or is it? No, it isn’t. Most of the time, you get stuck with a nasty, sticky table, or you get an itty bitty table. Not here. The booths are clean, tables are clean, and the seating at the booths are awesome. Next they bring you out their crack, I mean Salsa. There is a green and a red. The green is like an avocado version, and the red is more like a spiced up tomato based version. Both are good, I like the green the best. As for the food — I ordered the Salsa Verde cheese enchiladas. They didn’t come out piping hot like the rest of the places — where they practically melt everything on the plate together and you can’t touch the plate. No, these were a cheesy blend of Monterey Jack and probably the tastiest salsa verde I’ve ever had. Not too hot, not too spicy, not too salty — just right. The plate came with rice and beans — typical. I wasn’t a fan of either, but if anyone has ever dined with me before, I rarely finish the entrée. Not this time — all 3 enchiladas gone in 60 seconds. Well, maybe not stolen, but you get the idea. fantastic. So, I highly encourage you to get in here and sit down and enjoy. The wait staff all speak SOME English and ALL spoke Spanish. Please don’t let the chef with the 70’s porn mustache fool you. He’s all business in the back cranking out meals FAST. But if you feel the need to stay in your vehicle, they have a drive through :) Not too many places can say that and offer quality food. I found no issues here, hence the 5 star review. I will be back for sure! Clean, courteous and inexpensive. Love this place!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Terrible customer service and food is not up to par. I placed an order over the phone and was told it would be ready in 20 mins. I waited at least 30 mins before arriving to get the food. When I arrived I stood in front of the counter for at least 5 mins before being acknowledged, mind you the cashier was right in front of me but never said anything to me. I give up on this place; I’ve had a few other issues with them in the past but wanted to give them another chance since it is so close to home. I can’t deal with the bad customer service and flavor lacking food.

I decided to come here because it’s close to where I live and I’ve noticed many people parked outside and going through the drive though. Pros: –local families seem to love this place. It’s a spacious hang out taqueria, open late. –pretty quick service; there’s even a drive through. –Menu offers a large variety. Breakfast is served all day. Cons: –the food was just awful. The dishes looked like my old high school’s cafeteria food, but tasted worse. The tamale was dry, the rice and the steak were flavorless, and the ground beef taco was incredibly greasy… It was like taking a bite of pure grease. The super burrito tasted like a McDonald’s cheeseburger that was chopped up and wrapped in a cheesy tortilla. The cheese enchilada was underwhelming. I couldn’t really tell what the red sauce tasted like because there was so much sharp cheddar cheese. You can’t pay me to come back here. –floors are sticky, restroom floors were wet.

OLDREVIEW: Love this place. The owner, and the rest of the staff are very nice and the food is yummy for the price. My faves are the Milanesa with two over-easy eggs, the Flautas and the Taco Salad. Family and friends enjoy the Pozole, the Seafood Soup and the Green Enchilada plate. They have fast service and pretty reasonable prices though lately I think they have gone up a little. The added bonus is that it is not too far from where we live, and they have a drive-thru window so you can call your order in and pick it up pronto. The strip place or real estate it is on, is older and not the swankiest, but the place itself was renovated not too long ago and is clean. An additional thought if you are still on the fence: We saw this place go through many incarnations before it was the Taqueria it is now(a neighbor tells us that at one point it was even a Long Johns Silver). There is a reason this place stuck. Try it out and I doubt you will be disappointed. Would definitely recommend for a quick but satisfying meal. ******************** E D I T: Lately, we have been getting smaller portions and our orders have been wrong(short) about FOUR times in the last month. Just now, we were craving Chips and Chile Con Queso. so we ordered Two Large orders of Chile con Queso and one Small Chips and salsa. Knowing that they have been off the mark recently, I asked that they repeat the order THREE times. The order taker even said: «The Chile con Queso comes with a bag of chips …» to which I replied, «Yes, I know. There are several of us, so we want, two Large Chile con Quesos, with the chips that come with them, and an additional Small Chips and Salsa that of course includes chips too; so in all, we want two large Quesos and a small salsa with three bags of chips.(I almost hated to seem like I was trying to speak slowly to her). She then asked«red salsa?» I said yes. She said, «Okay, it is $ 3.99 for each Chile con Queso and $ 1.99 for the Salsa and Chips.» I almost argued that the website says(and we normally get charged) $ 3.50 for each CcQ, but didn’t. In any case, when we got home, OFCOURSE we had two large quesos and ONE small bag of chips,(we were missing two small bags of chips and the red salsa) but had been charged $ 11. I was actually more upset that we didn’t check the order before leaving the window. Note: We have noticed that most of the problems are in the evenings, on weekends. The staff at those times just seems not to care or are just dim.

I’ve always had great service here and I drop by when I want something quick and cheap. They are open pretty late and have a drive through window. While I’ve never found their food to be terrible I never thought it was amazing either. It’s good but not great. Sometimes a few things lack a bit of favor but it’s usually pretty good. If you’re looking for tacos then I suggest the taqueria on wheels located in the same parking lot. If you’re looking for variety in Tex-mex and something cheap and convenient with good service then this is the place to go.

I really did not like the tacos here. I found them bland. Service was cortious. Sauces were nice. Chips were fresh. Prices were fenomenal. Cleaningness was average. Bathrooms were clean. Parking lot was sketchy.

I had this place bookmarked to try for breakfast one day. I had a couple of their breakfast tacos; potato and egg and a ham and egg. Pros and cons: Pros — They have«white» or «yellow» cheese… definitely get the white — Flour tortillas are pretty good — Employees are very sweet and friendly — They have a drive thru Cons — Ham on the taco was in chunks and reminded me of Thanksgiving ham in terms of flavor — They put on way too much cheese… you can’t even see the fillings Bottom line for me, the tacos were just okay in terms of taste. But way too much cheese and funky ham made it a bit unappealing to me. If you’re in the area and looking for a quick breakfast taco, it’s a decent option, but it’s definitely not worth driving out of your way to go here.

Holy moly! I’ve lived next to this restaurant for years but this is my first time trying it. I could smack myself in the forehead a couple thousand times for not trying this place sooner. Great staff and even better food! Definitely can’t wait to try everything else on the menu.

Don’t get the steak fajita meat here. I tried it my first time here and the steak was very TOUGH though it was almost paper thin. The so called«fajita steak», as they called it, was so tough that my jaw was very sore from having to chew a small piece for so long before I was able to swallow it. And it wasn’t just the first piece of beef I tried to chew that was like that, but all of the so-called«fajita steak» meat in my plate was tough like that, and I ended up throwing most of my food away. Don’t waste your money getting anything involving fajita steak meat at this restaurant. I also ordered a chicken fajita quesadilla for my son, and the chicken fajita meat was also very dry and tough. My 4 year old son, nor I myself, could chew the chicken fajita meat.

Great place located off of 249 and Bammel. Very authentic food and people. Staff is very nice and helpful. The majority of the demographics is mainly Hispanics. So bring a Spanish speaking friend. Though I have seen other cultural(races) here. Everyone seems to enjoy the food :)

Amazingly shocked as to how good this little spot of 249 is. My ex mother and law makes the best red pozole and I am a huge fan of read pozole. When my friend told me about this place and their red pozole I was eager to try but was prepping for disappointment. I was thinking no way will it taste like my ex mother in laws homemade pozole. Well guess what? The pozole tasted just like hers! It was very good! Also this place is super cheap! Their breakfast tacos are so big and good as well for 1.50. So glad I found this hidden gym in the nw side. Also if you are near this area during lunch you will eat for cheap! 4.99!

Best taqueria on the north side, hands down! Thanks Unilocal for showing me this place! It’s cheap and the food is very nice and tasty. It’s so sad that all the Mexican places on the north side have gone down hill but it’s always nice to visit this place with my family. If you are in the area, I recommend it! Just a tip, not a lot of the servers speak English so you just have a bit patience!

What’s better than a Mexican breakfast? A Mexican breakfast for $ 3! This is one of my favorite full service Mexican restaurants in the mornings. Authentic food, prompt staff, and a price that can’t be beat. Who doesn’t love complimentary chips and salsa? Their red and green salsas are both delicious, but the green is especially tasty, and it always has quite the kick. Sometimes your mouth feels like it’s being punished. They don’t kid around with those spices. For breakfast, the burrito is a cheesy delicious treat, with your choice of meat, plus potato, refried beans, and scrambled eggs all rolled into a giant tortilla. If you’re a little hungrier, the various breakfast plates are a steal, most of them them costing $ 3, including the chorizo and eggs plate. It’s served with refried beans and fries, though I usually substitute those for charro beans and house potatoes. For a real treat, one of the most popular dishes, a must try, is the pozole. It’s like a spicy pork and hominy soup with fresh herbs and fresh slice of lime for garnish. Definitely warming and satisfying on a cold day. For lunch, there are plenty of $ 5 combination plates with everything from tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, to tamales. The food tastes fresh, though I wish they would season the steak a bit. The tamales are always dry. Food always comes out quickly, and I always leave absolutely stuffed. Also, they have a drive through. Heck yeah.

I’ve gone here many times & never checked in/reviewed it. This place is real Tex-Mex. Not that flavorless crap so many places are selling. They keep the place clean and orders moving. The staff is always nice & I’ve never had bad service. The price is a steal. They always have lunch specials for around $ 5 or $ 6. Their regular burrito is like $ 3& it’s way more tasty than anything you’d get from Taco Bell & cheaper than Taco Cabana. I’m even gonna be brave enough to put it in writting: IMO… this place is better than most of the Taqueria Arandas locations I’ve gone to… there I said it. Don’t shoot the messenger! :-P
