The Counter is the 21st century’s bold answer to the classic burger joint. When you walk into The Counter, you are greeted with a clipboard and pencil to place your order on a Build Your Own Burger Sheet. Choose from 4 proteins (beef, chicken, turkey, or veggie patty), 12 cheeses, 33 toppings, 21 unique sauces and four types of buns. Using your palate’s inspiration, you can create over 312,120 combinations at The Counter. Rarely is the same burger made twice in one day.
History
Established in 2010.
Anti-Established in 2003, The Counter® is the 21st century’s bold answer to the classic burger joint. First emerging on the West Coast in California, The Counter has ushered in a fresh era of industrial décor, today’s music, cold beer, unique wines, cocktails, and burger options that are only limited by your imagination.
The Counter Houston is Texas’s first location, having opened on September 27, 2010 in the Heights.

Business Owner
Aisha Waliany and her parents Malik and Shahnaz are proud to have opened the first Texas location of The Counter as part of NextGen Ventures, continuing their restaurant business into the new century and new generation of dining.
They have been in the restaurant business for about 25 years, previously as operators of Popeyes, and currently have 12 Arby’s in Texas. The Walianys plans to develop more Houston locations for The Counter over the next five years, breaking into the full-service format and embracing «customization to the extreme», as Aisha has described The Counter’s 300,000+ unique burger combinations.
