The Davenport is amazing! Last time we visited that spot our server was so much fun! We usually order pizza and some drinks and it goes well lol. Their outside seating area is the best. Even if the evening is pretty chilly, it’s ok, because the guys will do their best to make you warm! Highly recommend!

Came here on a Friday evening to unwind from a hectic work week. Even though we got there around 8, we were able to find seating within 10 minutes. Love the dark atmosphere and vibe that this place gives. Martinis were excellent and all you need is 1! I was floating! The only thing about this place is that there are no servers so you have to get up and get your drinks yourself and the furniture is extremely old! I’m pretty sure you can see the dust mites fly off of it in the light. However, we had a good time and I will be back

My general impression of The Davenport is great, but there is one BUT. I would have given this place maximum rate if only they cared about their restrooms better, in particular, woman’s one! As for the service and drinks, both are incredible! I love their dry martini and get it every single time there. I noticed some new staff members, who were also as friendly and polite as the old ones! I’m looking forward to bump them up! I wish the place would increase their space, because it’s a bit tight, and it’s 4 stars for now!

I love nothing more than discovering a diamond in the rough bar and this place is it! Very quaint and cozy just how I prefer. Perfect after work spot to unwind without the crowd, I think! Lol. I went on a Sunday for a friends birthday party. The DJ is niceeeeee! I love a mix of 90s hip hop and current hip hop, mainly 90s. Now let’s address the elephant in the room! The martini list is to dye for!!! They literally have any martini you can construct in your mind! I had the cucumber martini and it was delicious. Very refreshing, crisp, and definitely has a bite to it! The four stars is because the sections are small and the décor is very plain. Also, I’m not cognizant if they offer a full food menu or even tapas. We weren’t offered a menu while sitting at the bar and I didn’t ask.

Came here on a Friday for some after work drinks and boy. There was quite a few people inside already super loud. And after I had my drink, I could see why. The martinis are stiff! But they’re mixed well and they taste pretty good. Nothing fancy — just straight to the point. They have a ton of different drinks to choose from. I got the gummy bear and it was pretty good. Definitely filled to the rim! The bar itself was dark and the furniture old. We sat outside on the patio facing a Main Street. There were a ton of people sitting outside facing us from the building side and was a little weird for conversation. Overall, average bar with fairly good drinks and if you plan on getting wasted, just have 2 – 3 and you’ll be well on your way. 1 if you’re a light weight :)

When I went it was from what I understand an unusual Saturday night. It was storming and there was a threat of severe flooding in Houston. This meant we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We had So.MUCH.FUN! The bar tender answered any and all questions about what to order. We had the best martinis imaginable. We also got samples of others to try! These martinis were absolutely top notch. The only sad thing was hearing that the bar was normally super crowded on the weekends so our experience was not the norm. If crowded, there would be limited seating, and probably not as much one on one with the bartender. Let’s just say if you love martinis, it’s worth a try!

If the woman’s restroom was in better condition I would give a higher rating. 90% of time its nasty unclean or flooded. Or if my martinis the last 3 times tasted remotely the same. I always get a dry martini with ketel one and a lime on the side. Since I been back in Houston either too much vermouth or not enough. Not worthy of the davenport I am accustomed to. I see new faces since the last time I was in Houston so hope to bump them up. I’m hoping they move across the street to stagheads old location. Would be perfect. They need more space

I really enjoyed my experience here on Friday, so I returned on Saturday. Not too packed, music not too loud, a medium buzz of conversation and attentive bartenders. The drinks are a bit pricey, but I don’t mind paying for the atmosphere. Both times that I went, I was able to find a seat. In reading the reviews below, it’s obvious that I need to return again to try one of their martinis or mixed drinks. So far, no complaints from me. I would suggest you try this place for a really cool, relaxing lounge vibe.

David was super awesome server, very down to earth. The drinks were great along with the pizza. We sat outside and they made so many accommodations for us to make sure we were warm. I would most definitely come here again, and again.

Great dive bar without pretentious children acting like High School wannabes… Right after work is the laid back out of their 20’s crowd.

This place has been a Houston institution forever. I have been here twenty years and that’s how long it’s consistently been great. Good MARTINIS, A VERYDIVERSECROWD, depending on which night you arrive. Everybody Welcome!

Great place to meet and greet. Very respectful crowd and energetic staff. The only negative is the rest room. It had 1 toilet and no urinals. I felt like I was walking through a flood zone to reach the toilet. Luckily I made it. All in all a great atmosphere.

I loved the environment, it wasn’t extra loud the night I went but every seat was full! The drinks were delicious and potent. I tried the lemon drop martini, buttery nipple shot, and the sex the beach. Drinks were pricy, but once I tasted it I realized why! Well worth my money.

The drinks here are not for the faint at heart! Whoa! Every pour is at least a double shot. When they first give you the drink & tell you the price, your like, «whoa, $ 13 for a drink at a dive bar in Houston». But, then, you taste it & totally realize it was money well spent. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. And the music is decent. It’s not a place to go dancing so leave your dancing shoes at home. Davenport is a cool, calm, chill out spot to take a date or pick up a new one :-).

It’s a good location, parking has been easy everytime I’ve gone. It’s dark with low lighting & usually has great music playing. The bartenders are very friendly. I’m a creature of habit at times so when I’m feeling up for it, I tell the bartender what I usually look for in a drink & they make me something off the list! They do offer wine as well but that’s not what I want when I come here. I really love the cocktail options here, I seriously think there’s probably 50+ on the menu! My go to is the Flirtini, I’m a sucker for raspberries! I have tried about10 different ones, they have all been enjoyable. I like the fact that the music isn’t too loud so you can still carry a conversation without killing your vocal chords. The prices are pretty decent & comparable to other cocktail bars. I’m trying to work my way down the list but it’s a tough job that will require a few visits!

I have to say, I REALLY don’t get all the hype. I remember coming here several years ago, before I was really active on Unilocal, and it was okay, but that’s the best I’ve got for this place, it’s just okay. More recently, I’ve ventured here a couple of times with other Unilocalers who are die hard fans. The first time, I ordered a vodka and Diet Coke, and the Coke tasted like salty water and something else that was just awful. And when I tried to talk to the bartender about it and tell her something was wrong with the Diet Coke, she fed me some lame line about how it tasted different because it wasn’t from a can. And when I tried to explain further, she ignored me and walked away! Who DOES that?! Maybe she needed a Midol or some chocolate or something. I know that it sometimes happens, but I’m still blown away at how rude she was. I’m tempted to name names, but whatever. The second time I went with a group of Unilocalers, it was better, but that was definitely the company I was with and not the establishment. Yeah its a chill place, but I’m just not feeling it.

A little pricey but worth it bc the drinks are strong. Had the gummy bear martini and it was tasty. Came during the day so I’m not sure what the crowd is like. It’s very tiny inside but it was only 5 people in there so it was fine.

I know I know I know… This place wasn’t what I thought it was going to be but I’m glad… no, I’m VERY glad I accepted the invite. The stars are interchangeable and can be modified based on the following factors: 1. It was tiny inside, which may have contributed to the NOISELEVEL… Groups of Women screaming and cackling in my ear was not even cool. OK. Granted, it’s a holiday weekend, maybe they’re friends & family who haven’t seen each other in a very long time and they are just super excited. I’ll give it another shot and come back. 2. Old guys galore. OK… Once again, it’s a holiday weekend. Perhaps this is usually their night to come. I’ll give it another shot and come back 3. Diversity. I need that. It was considerably diverse-less, yet I feel it had possibly gotten side-tracked by the house crowd as well, so yes, I will give it another shot & come back on a NONHOLIDAY weekend to see if this played a part. Wonderful staff, RIDICULOUSLY tasty & market prices for their signature martinis. Yes… You wooed me Davenport’s. Me. The UN-wooable. Oh yes you did! Lock the doors, turn off the disco light and pour me another lemon drop baby

I love Davenport! I’ve been there quite a few times and they get a BIG thumbs up! Nice ambiance and music. Sometimes it feels a little quaint, but that’s only apparent when they fill up, which is a good thing because of the super crowd that frequents there ;) The drinks and choices are awesome! The bartenders are really nice and personable too. Appletini and the Peanut Butter & Jelly martini are my favorites! This is my after dinner before the club spot. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! If they’re open now, GO!!!

My favorite bar of all time!!! Friendly respectful knowledgeable bartenders that have turned into awesome friends. Martinis that I cannot order anywhere else. People complain about things that have nothing to do with the bar and the purpose of you being there. You want a STRONGDRINK. PROPERLYMADEDRINK. VARIETYOFDRINKS. this place is for you.

I met my husband and his work group here for drinks on Good Friday — don’t judge me! He has always mentioned this place and I thought it looked like a DUMP. The atmosphere is very retro — like 1970’s lizard lounge, but it is clean and comfy. He swears by the«Grasshopper Martini» — something that he likes more than me. I had probably the best Tito’s and Soda ever here — well it should have it – the glass was ¾ Tito’s — the prices were fair and the bartender was very nice. We will be returning for more drinks and merriment.

Best Martini in Houston. Period. Crazy extensive menu and great prices. And they are heavy handed so you won’t need more than a couple drinks for the night. Get here by 10ish if you want a seat on the weekends or a Friday.

Met a few friends here for drinks after dinner. I’d been a few times in the past and remembered how strong the drinks were. My girlfriend and I both ordered whiskey and coke/sprite upon arriving. $ 17 for 2 cocktails is slightly higher than normal, but it’s worth it at Davenports. Let’s just say we only ordered one round during our 45-minute stay. We stood for most of the time socializing with our group, but a couple left sitting at a table nearby so we were able to rest of feet for a few which was delightful. I love the atmosphere of the bar. Diverse crowd, good music and great drinks. Seating is limited, but from my experience most people go to Davenports to pre-game, so there’s a lot of traffic.

I am such a fan of this place I have become a semi-regular. Yes, you can come in for a regular cocktail — a Jack and Coke or a vodka/7. But you should really come here for the martinis. Do not be intimidated by the amazing specialty martini menu. You can have your basic dry Grey Goose or dirty Tito’s martini. They have a vary good — very good — selection of Scotch and bourbon. And the bartenders are knowledgeable about them all. But you really should try some of the amazing mixtures they have concocted for your taste buds. All drinks are poured as doubles. All of them… and they aren’t priced like doubles. You will not pay $ 17 for a martini. I love the vibe of the place in the late afternoon when folks start rolling in after work. There is a core group of regulars. The bartender knows them well enough to have their drink about ready before they even grab a chair at the bar. There is nothing fancy, no beer neon or usual bar rails. Ya know? It’s a lounge at it’s purest. There are only a few tables around, a few outside on Richmond for smokers and the seats at the bar. No dance floor or loud music. I have mentioned a few of the specialty martinis in a prior review. Pick your taste bud’s desire for that day and let them make you one. If it’s not a favorite of the clients or you tell the bartender what you«feel like» that day they will suggest something for you. See you there one Tuesday afternoon.

Yesssss, honey! This place is the truth! My search for the perfect martini(s) since I’ve moved here has officially ended.(This is probably the closest thing to Nic’s in Beverly Hills or Lola’s on Fairfax that I’m going to get). I love the extensive martini menu(60 or so different ones), and the cocktails/shots menu. I tried the Flirtini and the Gummy Bear martinis — both were mixed to perfection. Equally sweet and strong. After one, you may start to feel a buzz. That’s if you’re a lightweight and I’m not. :-) I love the atmosphere, too. The place is small, dark and has a really relaxed vibe. Ironically, they played a lot of Bob Marley. It started getting crowded around 8:30 p.m. This place is a great date spot. I don’t think they serve food. I actually saw some folks bring in outside food, so plan accordingly. It’s more than worth it. I’ll definitely be back. And when I do, I hope Felipe is working.
