Established in 2010.

When Rhonda Rhodes, an attorney and writer who grew up near 19^th Street, heard that a narrow, deep retail space with a high tin-​stamped ceiling was available, she knew it was time to live her dream of owning a book-​and-​gift shop. The decision was an easy one because Rhonda, though nearing the end of a long recovery from a shoulder-​to-​hand injury, knew she would never be able to spend long days at the keyboard again. In her mind, the universe had given her permission to try something different, something positive, something uplifting. And so The Lift was born.
