The Montrose Center

I have been contributing to The Montrose Center through United Way for many years. But I never really set foot at this place.
My initial impression about this facility was very pleasant. I love the parking lot, the most valuable asset. It serves in multiple functions, from community health, support groups, mental health counselling to meeting room rentals.
I gave myself a tour and went to different floors to explore this wonderful facility. I met with a helpful receptionist and friendly client. There are support groups for all ages — one for seniors called SPRY (Seniors Preparing for Rainbow Years) and a youth support group called Hatch. It’s nice to see other groups are conveniently located under one roof. The marquee shows the activities schedule and room location on each floor.
I had an amazing experience with many volunteering opportunities at The Montrose Center. And, I will continue my efforts giving back to the community.

This place is a good place to go if you are a lesbian or gay and/​or transgender. They will always try to help you even if they don’t have a program for you. They will try. The staff are kind and welcoming. They will most likely have some way to help you. I think they have HIV services, therapy and case managers. LGBT teens have a program and so do seniors.

Nothing but good things to say about this organization. The level of support they provide not only the youth of our community but everyone who has issues with whatever they are going through in life, or have gone through.
From Mental Health counseling to case management to rehabilitation programs and support groups, they do it all. It’s nice to have a one — stop shop for this kinda stuff. And if you’re insured, well you’re one foot in already.

I have worked with this business in the past to help raise money for various projects and I just loved the support they provide.
HATCH is a wonderful program and the first program that I have worked to raise money for. I am a member of the LGBT Community here in Houston and I felt that I should put something together to help the LGBT Youth of Houston.
HATCH is dedicated to empowering gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning youth and their allies, ages 13 – 20, to become positive contributors to society by providing a safe social environment for GLBTIQA youth, offering role models and peer support, and sponsoring educational and community outreach opportunities.
Aside from HATCH this center provides various educational programs such as HIV/​AIDS Counseling, life counseling, an anti violence program, various support groups and more.
Great place to get involved with to volunteer or obtain services if you need them.
