You can expect TMJ to do better work than your local stealership and most private mechanics. On your first visit, they’ll want to evaluate your car, diagnose any immediately affected systems, repair/​replace what’s broken at your discretion (no unsolicited repairs), and suggest preemptive measures to keep the car running as long as possible, for as little as possible.
BMW’s host enough problems (cooling, electrical, VANOS, etc.) that TMJ can do things right and still stay in business. These cars are not for the faint-​hearted. With that said, TMJ’s fees are commensurate with the quality of their work, so don’t be dismayed by an indy mechanic charging slightly less for a necessary repair, let alone a stealership charging significantly more for a «seemingly» necessary one.
They have the experience to provide you reliable foresight to your cars health. I went in with an overheating issue, they pressure tested each component of the cooling system, isolated the issue to a water pump gasket, and replaced the water pump gasket (and not a whole lot more). They pointed out what components may be failing soon, repaired some neighborhood issues, and didn’t book me for any unnecessary work.
If you want a shop to provide you turn-​key type service, they will do that too! Just be ready to heed their advice and commit to repairs they suggest; otherwise, do your own research and feel free to discuss your outlook with them.

Unlike most mechanic shops making the «quick buck» isn’t the agenda here. This is obvious from the second you arrive, and proven when you get your invoice for the maintenance performed. I always drive away smiling not just because Im behind the wheel of the ultimate driving machine but more so because shes operating they way she was engineered to and in many cases better.
