Tokyo One At Westchase

This is a nice sushi buffet location in the Westchase area that took over a seafood restaurant a few years back and kept the design and motif. It’s a little bit awkward to walk up the deck and everything considering that no one really sits out on the patio anymore, but it’s different.
The sushi buffet area is a bit cramped, but sushi chefs are constantly working to restock items and ensure that you have plenty of fresh sushi restocked. Around the corner are fried rice options and a Ramen bar where you can customize your hot noodles. Further down are entrees, mostly of the seafood variety but also including a few meat dishes. Desserts and salad are in the middle with desserts.
Depending on the time you come by, there can be up to an hour wait for a table. Service can be lackluster depending on when you come by, but on the whole you’re pretty much serving yourself. Dinner is pricey, so I don’t swing by after the lunch hours. That said, for about $ 15 for all you can eat sushi for lunch, it’s worth it.

Good food, delicious and a wide variety of seafood. Sushi is not so great, but overall it’s a good experience!!! Love the lobster!!! Will definitely come back!

Very decent sushi/​Japanese buffet for seafood lover. Price is about 30 $ per with an additional lobster. Not too bad. Although they dont offer a lot of different kind of food like other Chinese buffet, but you can def get your money worth, fight for those oysters, shrimp, scallop and crab legs. I’m not very impress with their sushi, i expected a little more exotics choices than just unagi roll and California roll. But other than that, their lobster are very tasty. I like mine cooked with scallion and ginger or baked with chesse.
I do find myself wandering alot around the raw oyster, they are very fresh and good size. I usually eat about 12 for myself as appertizer before i move on to different dish. Although odd for a seafood based place, i do like the steak that they offer. The steak is made to order and cooked to your personal preferance right in front of you. Very flavorful and juicy.
My all time favorite there is their crème brûlée! Must try if you ever go to Tokyo One. Very creamy and not at all too sweet like made at other places!

Came here during Mother’s day so it was extremely busier than usual. We choose to sit and dine outside since it was too long to wait for a table inside. Besides the huge crowd watching you eat awkwardly, the breeze was not bad.
On to the food, the Baked Lobster was pretty good, if only it didn’t seem rushed because you can tell when you bite into the meat it was still cold.
The buffet here is pretty good if you enjoy seafood. I usually always recommend getting the shrimp tempura and Korean BBQ ribs.
Most of the food today was on average okay, you can tell they had to rush to mass produce the food due to it being so busy, I’d recommend trying this place out only during the week or if you go for dinner, don’t go on a busy holiday.
Baked Lobster hands down is a must-​try!

Took about 8 days for me to have normal poops and my digestion back to normal. Defintely avoid this place for their raw seafood. None of the dishes they had was worth the money too.

Having eaten at what I think is one of their sister locations in Dallas, I had reasonably high expectations for what I was walking into. The front half of restaurant itself looked like it could have been someone’s house — and the sushi bar & rest of the buffet were spread out somewhat haphazardly around the place. Where i struggled was the «add on lobster» and the effects it had on me much later in the evening. It looked like it had been stuffed end to end with some sort of green substance … and … well … let’s just say that wasn’t appetizing at all when you looked at it. #poopinglobster
Perhaps this is just where my brain went, but once I got there … I couldn’t get away from it. I could only eat half the lobster, and then later in the evening got extremely sick in my hotel room. It could have been revenge of the lobster — or something else I ate, but I would say the rest of the food was really great so I’d definitely point my finger at the lobster. I’d recommend staying away from that up-​charge and just focusing on their great sushi and other asian items.

I didn’t like their sushi at all. It had a vinegar hint to it and the fish didn’t taste fresh. Worst sushi ive had. The shrimp was slightly overcooked and mushy
Their beef short ribs, however, were very good. Fried chicken was also pretty good.

My family went there for someone’s birthday celebration for lunch. Tokyo One has lots selection of seafood, grill buffet, lobster, sushi, tons of food. Everyone enjoyed the food there. They have usual assortment of buffet foods, undo noodle soup which is made-​when-​ordered, like the other Asian theme. The price we costed $ 29 for each person since we added lobsters, regular buffet is $ 25, if plus a lobster, should be $ 29. We went there on Saturday but I don’t know the prices for M-​F.
There are fruits, salad, dessert, seaweed salad, spicy octopus, kim chi in the cold bar, we tried most of them, tasted good & cool. The seaweed salad has cucumber mixed, not that good to me but the color was pretty.
Hot food included more seafood such as clams, boiled shrimp, baked mussels, boiled craw fish, tempura shrimp, vegetables, two kinds of soup. The taste was pretty good.
The lobster has two kinds, steam & bakery, the bakery has cheese on it, we tried both kinds, both tasted good.
We enjoyed the strawberry ice cream, they have other kinds-​green tea…
I personally did not touch the sushi since i don’t like sushi although they looked very good.
In summary, Tokyo One has the good quality of the food, lots of selection. We would think about the similar place such as Kpop-​previews called Todai when we enjoyed the food. Kpop does not have lobsters (at least several months ago as I knew).

This place, along with Todai, used to be our family’s choice for sushi buffet in Houston. Offered a rare excursion as a family to Houston, we jumped on the chance to visit again.
First thing we noticed was that the dinner price had increased to $ 25, with an additional $ 4 charge for a lobster. No problem for unlimited oysters! The nigiri and sashimi selection included salmon, tuna, squid, surf clam, white bass, mackarel, red snapper, flying fish roe and crab meat. Sadly, no octopus or salmon roe though. :(
The buffet line also included mussels, clams, crab legs, takoyaki, tempura, shortribs, seafood soup (pictured) and a made-​to-​order noodle soup bar. We tried the thai and ramen broths, and both were underwhelming. The tomato base of the thai soup was too thick, overpowering the spicy or sour flavors. The ramen broth seemed heavily soy based, and was a little salty. However, I downed three bowls of the seafood soup; it was great. Unfortunately, the usual star of the experience, the steamed lobster was not as good as usual, as it was overcooked and so the meat was quite dry.
Finally, it came time for dessert. There are the usual fruits, ice creams, cakes, and cookies, but the flan and the crème brûlée are amazing! Both the texture and the flavor of the custards are spot on. I definitely wish I had more room.
All in all, it was a very satisfactory experience. We sought a sushi buffet, and we got a sushi buffet. All-​you-​can-​eat sushi does not seem too prevalent in Houston, and Tokyo One fills that niche. As a result, we’ve dined here many times throughout the years. That being said, the continuing increase in price accompanied with a slight decrease in quality is a worrying concern, and I hope our future experiences are more like those of the past, rather than the present.

My friends highly recommend us to come here. Here we are…
Sashimi and seafood both are very fresh. Beef short ribs are very tasty!
Green bean is right next to beef short ribs, it has full of flavor.
Normally, I won’t eat dumpling in restaurants, but their Pan-​Fried dumpling is out of my expectation, you have to try it!
Don’t miss Asian style ice cream!

I was here for lunch. Tokyo One advertises as a seafood and grill buffet and the food selection reflects that. They have your usual assortment of buffet foods, complimented by a sushi station, udon noodle soup made-​when-​ordered, and a number of plates that reflect the Asian theme. The price is $ 13 for M-​Th lunch.
The cold bar has fruits, salad, dessert, and some Asian dishes: seaweed salad, spicy octopus, kim chi — I didn’t get to try them all. Small complaint about the seaweed salad — the cucumber mixed in felt like all the wrong proportions and while the color was good, I could taste the cucumber over the seaweed.
Hot food items included more seafood, such as clams, boiled shrimp, baked mussels, and tempura shrimp and vegetables. Unfortunately if you’re here on a slow day it seems like the food’s been sitting out for awhile. I’m more than understanding given that it’s a buffet and I hate wasting food but the heat lamps did a very poor job of keeping the food warm while they were sitting on the plate.
The sushi bar had a collection of rolls and nigiri. Didn’t get to try the rolls but the nigiri they had available were squid, tamago, tofu skin, tuna, salmon, masago, and maybe one more I’m forgetting. I’d consider it passable for buffet sushi — the rice was wetter than I like.
You could get a hot bowl of udon noodle soup. The cook behind the station would boil your noodles and then ladle in some hot soup. You can add in your some toppings and seasoning such as green onions, hot pepper, tofu skin, imitation crab slices (sp?), and seaweed. I thought this was the best part of the meal aside from the ice cream they serve for dessert (big points for mango and green tea flavors)
In summary, I liked the selection at Tokyo One for the price but some things, such as the quality of the food and keeping it heated, detracted me from enjoying an otherwise decent buffet. Maybe it will be better another time.

Tokyo One definitely exceeded my expectation. I didn’t have a high expectation but I left with a happy stomach.
I would recommend eating all the salmon sashimi you can, get the baked lobster, and king Alaskan crabs. The BBQ short ribs were pretty good. With all that, you will have eaten $ 30 worth. I tried many other dishes, but nothing stood out. A list of dishes that I tried and don’t recommend getting are:
udon soup — it was way too salty and too much broth for the noodles you get
oysters — it tastes frozen and not delicious
tuna sashimi — it was rubbery
clams — did not look fresh or appetizing
green tea ice cream — the color was dark green and had no matcha flavor to it

Who invites a pregnant woman to eat at a sushi buffet? Parents, that’s who. The things we do to eat with parents. /​end rant/
But the sushi is fresh (from what I hear), but as for non-​sushi based foods, your choices are tempura fried shrimp and sweet potatoes (which are great if you get the fresh ones), noodles, salad bar, some fruit and dessert. I tried the curry noodles and the udon noodles. Surprisingly both were flavorless. I’m not even sure how curried noodles could lack flavor. The udon broth, despite being very dark, lacked any sort of flavor. At the very least it could have used some salt.
There were some boiled shrimp that were good, by really, just the least forgettable thing there because it took so much time to peel. There were also these eggs cooked in a ramekin that were pretty tasty. As for fruit there were pineapple and melons. There was a little retry good selection of the usual buffet desserts, but nothing that stands out. Overall, it’s nothing special, so don’t worry about missing out, unless you feel like eating a bunch of sushi for cheap.

Tokyo one is just one of those places you have to try at least once. It’s gone down hill quite a bit since I was younger. The sushi is definitely on the ‘sitting out there for a while buffet style’
The rice on the sushi was super condensed. Too much vinegar as well. However, the sushi meat itself was still fresh. That’s how it wasn’t like any other buffet sushi.
The other buffet items were delicious. They replaced things pretty regularly. Everyone was able to order a lobster either baked or steamed. If you get it baked, they will go ahead and cut the lobster in half for you. Easier to eat. If you get it steamed, make sure you ask to get it cut, or else you’re just on your own with the cracker.
The cream brûlée was perfect! Not too sweet but had that refreshing taste to it. The mango ice cream is NOT what you think. So don’t get that.
My only real complaint is that the staff need to shower more or put on more deodorant. Man, every time they came to pick up our plates, their BO was all in my nose. Ew.

First time lunch visit here and I couldn’t understand why Unilocal reviews were 3 stars. When you walk in it’s like a galore of presentable foods! Everything looked so good! Food is definitely not that fresh. It’s eatable if you’re hungry. Lots to choose from. Most likely will not come back for $ 12/​person. Another thing, what’s going on with the women’s restroom. There is a huge mirror in the biggest stall. Creepy!

Why does this location NOT Crème Bu Le on the lunch buffet? Sushi is just ok… however I love mixing the Kimchi and short ribs together… tastes awesome. Also I suggest the clams with the yellow curry sauce poured over them.
Willowbrook location is better.

$ 26 per person for the buffet and $ 30 for buffet+lobster.
Food are goooood, and decent selection of sushi/​sashimi. My personal favorite are the salmon sashimi, shrimp tempura, and desserts! And if you still have some room, you can ask the waiter for some ice cream. Seriously, everything is good.
Just wish they had more drinks to offer, that would be perfection.

The location is just off the Beltway. It can be a bit of a hassle if you are coming from the South and need to u-​turn in order to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is right after the u-​turn so be careful during the turn.
The restaurant has parking located around the building. If you can’t find parking there is some parking next to it that belongs to a hotel. Should be fine to park there.
There is ample seating to accommodate up to groups of 10 – 15. The interior is pretty modern. You can choose to sit at the bar, in booths, or just at a table. The service is pretty solid. Everyone was pretty helpful and accessible if you needed anything.
The sushi is pretty good for the price. It’s really cheap to come here on a weekday for lunch. Although they only have nigiri or rolls (no sashimi), it’s still worth the money to come here. A cheap way to solve a sushi craving if you are not too picky.
Bonus: Be sure to try the ice cream. They have lots of cool flavors, I recommend green tea/​red bean. The ice cream is located next to the bar.

Lunch option has no lobster or crab seafood option. For the lunch price is worth it. There is nothing special about the buffet selection, but some items are pretty fresh quality there: steam clam, Korean BBQ, grilled macro.
Oh, ice cream is served at the end from the server.

Our waiter was awesome! Normally at Asian buffets they could give 2 craps about you but because this place is pricier they make a good effort to accommodate the whole group. Throughout our meal he asked us if we wanted lobster, soup and then ice cream. Of course we said yes to all!
Anyways this place is mainly a seafood buffet but there are other little non-​seafood things like chicken curry and Korean bbq. Everyone gets a lobster for an extra $ 5.
I reeeeallly enjoyed their sashimi salad which was fresh. Their crawfish was okay, a little spicy but I didn’t go back for seconds. I ate just enough and the green tea icecream and crème brûlée is definitely a hit!
