Dr. Smedstad takes a «whole person» approach in chiropractic care, which means looking for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms.

Business Owner
A high school football injury led to my career in Chiropractic. At the time, I was told I needed surgery, and could never participate in contact sports again. My Chiropractor, (the Oakland team Chiropractor at the time), helped me avoid surgery and get back to a normal, very active life. In fact, I was able to play championship rugby in college! It was that experience that made me want to help other people, to show them what Chiropractic could do for them.
I chose to attend Palmer Chiropractic College because I wanted to equip myself with the finest Chiropractic education available. The «founding father» of Chiropractic, Dr. D.D. Palmer, developed a theory that spinal misalignment caused nerve pressure and/or irritation which, in turn, caused various ailments. He realized that the structure and condition of the body influenced how the body functioned, and it’s ability to heal itself, without the use of drugs or surgery.
