Jos. A. Bank

I am writing this review discuss the experience that I had at your Howell, New Jersey Jos. A Bank store. The store is located at 4791 U.S. 9 in Howell, NJ. I have family and close friends who work in retail and have heard horror stories of customer complaints, so I am usually not one to complain– but my experience at your store was truly a negative one.
I visited this location in March, 2015 to be fitted for my wedding tuxedo. While being fitted, Manager Frank Palladino measured my waist. While taking my measurements, Frank said «Wow, that’s big». I was highly offended by this comment. Although I would not consider myself skinny, I am 6’2 and 238 pounds with a size 38 waist in jeans and khakis. I feel that this comment was extremely uncalled for, and my wife and I both left the store shocked that a «professional» would make a comment like this to a paying customer.
Despite this rude comment, I proceeded with my order (group number 5 888 751), and told the rest of my wedding party (10 males total) to start getting measured for their suits. While being fitted for our suits, my wedding party informed me that it seemed that the staff at this location did not know how to use the ordering system, often taking up to two (2) hours to place an order. Two days before my June 27, 2015 wedding, the suits started to arrive at the stores. I went to pick up my suit at the store on Thursday. When I tried on the pants, they fit me like sweatpants. The inseam was over two inches too long, and the waist was two sizes too big. My father’s pants were two inches too short. My best man’s jacket was so big that the sleeves extended past his hands. The sales associate ordered my father in law’s suit to arrive the day after the wedding. If my father in law hadn’t looked at the ticket, he would have not received his suit in time. Out of the 10 males that were measured for their tuxedos, eight did not fit and had to have new suits rushed to the store, some arriving three hours before the wedding. It seems that the only person who knew what they were doing at the store was Mike, who informed me that he was leaving the company because he was not being treated properly by management.
Although the suit fiasco boiled down to nearly the last minute, we all received our suits in time for the wedding. The night of the wedding was a like a monsoon with extremely heavy rain, but we were lucky that the party was inside. The day after the wedding, I arrived at the Howell store to drop off my tuxedo as well as a few others for the guys in my wedding party. When I entered the store, I was immediately asked by Frank (Store Manager) «Who’s Kieran»? I told Frank that Kieran is my my brother in law, to which he replied «Was he drunk last night?». I informed him that Kieran was not drinking at the wedding since he had to drive my 9-​month pregnant sister home after the party. He then made a comment that Kieran returned his suit «soaked», and was insistent that I came to the back room with him to look at the suit. I told Frank that Kieran had walked out of the party twice to get my elderly grandparents car for them and also to get the car so that my pregnant sister did not have to walk through the lot in the storm. Frank grunted and mumbled something under his breath. I started talking to the other salesman in the store, who was much more personable. After handing in my suit, I commented that I would be back in a few weeks to purchase a suit for work, to which Frank commented «don’t bring your brother in law». I was completely fed up with Frank at this time, and decided to walk out of the store instead of commenting back to Frank. I informed my brother in law Kieran of the conversation with Frank soon thereafter. He told me that Frank was very rude to him as well when he dropped off his suit.
As stated earlier, I am not usually one to complain, but I feel that the level of customer service received by myself as well as the members of my wedding party was unacceptable. A company such as Jos. A Bank should have well trained and professional associates, which in this case proved to be far from true. My father spent nearly twenty years as a retail manager and stated that if he had treated his customers the way that Frank treated his, he would have lost his job.
A reply from a representative from corporate would be greatly appreciated.
