Absolute Small Engine

PLEASE RESEARCH THIS COMPANY THOROUGHLY! DON’T GET BURNED LIKE ME!!!
I bought a riding lawnmower on Friday, September 5, 2014 and 20 minutes after it was delivered on the following Monday the wheel came off due to some «Jerry Rigging». They were nice enough to come and get it and offered to repair it for free (covered under their 30 day warranty). When I decided on a refund instead ($ 505) the owner wasn’t too happy about it. He never once apologized and in the end he wouldn’t refund me the $ 20 delivery fee.
I am not happy at all with the way I was treated by the owner. When I spoke to him I explained that I had prayed about it, was worried about it not being a good mower for me and that I wanted a refund. Instead of apologizing, he said «I’m a Christian too and it don’t work like that». I was baffled that instead of soothing my worries and explaining that he would get the mower in great condition for me, he dropped that great bit of knowledge on me instead. It just solidified my decision for a refund. He took my debit card number and supposedly refunded my money while we were on the phone.
After six business days with no refund posted to my account, I called to talk to the owner and was given the runaround twice. When an employee (Joe) called me back, he said that they had gotten busy that day and the owner forgot to refund my money. This is where I realized that I was dealing with a liar and a swindler because the owner acted like he was refunding my money when I had called on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. I am beyond angry with this guy and his awful business practices.
Originally, I had assumed that the «Jerry Rigging» was done before they got the tractor and it was just something they missed. Now, after dealing with them and seeing the lies and actions they are capable of, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were the ones that did it, hoping that the tape job would last past the 30 day warranty so that they wouldn’t be liable for it.
Bottom line: I didn’t do my due diligence when I originally looked into their company and only looked at Google for reviews. They had one review on there and it was a positive, 5 star review. After the first, awful interaction with the owner, I dug deeper and found MANY negative reviews about the company pertaining to similar bad business practices comparable to what I experienced. I will never do business with this unethical schemer again and I urge you to take my advice and stay away.
