History

Established in 1939.

Our family started a gas and home heating oil business that grew out of an old blacksmith shop in the 1930s. We began selling propane in 1984 in response to the shifting needs of our customers.

Meet the Business Owner

Chris and Michael C.

Business Owner

Chris and Michael Caywood assumed ownership of Caywood Propane Gas, Inc. upon their father’s death in 1997.

Chris holds bachelor, master and law degrees from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago. After several years of practicing law he held a number of management roles with increasing responsibility at Sears, Baxter International, Motorola, Kaplan and DeVery Education Group. He lives in the Chicago area with his wife and three daughters.

Michael holds a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from the University of Iowa. He is a partner with the the firm Dresser, Dresser, Haas & Caywood and has practiced law for almost 25 years, including stints with major firms in Phoenix and Chicago and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He resides in Sturgis, Michigna with his wife, son and daughter.
