They significantly overcharged. They charged over 600 dollars for AC repair. I asked about pricing upfront and I was told it was the cost for four hours needed to replace freon. The parts were all covered under the warranty. It only took just over an hour to fix the unit, but they still charged me the same fee for labor.
When I called to inquire I got the runaround regarding it being a flat fee, which was not what I was originally told. After some back and forth, they did refund me a little over one hundred dollars. Still much more expensive considering parts were covered by the warranty and it only took about an hour to repair. Less than honest, in my opinion.

Today, hours before my grandson’s Bar Mitzvah party at my home, my AC died. It was 95 degrees outside. Chaves was here quickly, the office kept in touch with us all day as we waited for the ice to melt off the condenser and a wonderful technician was back as soon as possible and getting us going again.
Everyone who works for Chaves is knowledgeable, polite, careful and caring. This is actually the third time that Chaves has stepped in and saved the day. The previous two times, they were fixing another company’s mess. I will never use anyone else for our HVAC system.

We found Chaves after three failed attempts by other companies to fix a furnace problem. They came in, suggested a solution, and to my surprise, we haven’t had a problem since. They also put in a humification system in our house — a tricky proposition since we didn’t have forced hot air to tie into, and it’s a relatively big house. Again, the proposals from two other companies didn’t quite make sense to me, a doubt confirmed by some internet research. They spent a full day here, working in some tight spaces, and gave me a system that works simply and efficiently. We use them for out heating and AC maintenance (they nursed our AC unit to extend its life for 3 years until we finally replaced it). Their techs are professional and capable. I’d recommend them to anyone.
