Dollar General Store

I have been going to this store for a good while now, since it is very close to our home. It is so handy to pop by to grab a quick item on the way home or on a weekend afternoon. No heavy traffic, no long checkout lines, no huge crowds like you will find at the big strip centers. Convenience is king for me when shopping this store.
Dollar General is kind of a low end version of Walgreens, without the prescription drugs. They have food, pet items, gardening items, home care items, car care items, toiletries and over the counter medications. Some of the brands they carry are not as high quality as the big brands, but others are just as good and they do carry some of the big brands too.
I have noticed that the every day prices here are not really lower than other stores. On some items, they are even a little higher. Where Dollar General excels is their sale prices. Cat food sales especially catch my eye, since we go through it a lot with our cats and the rescues. I also snag my Glade candles and other home cleaning items here when they are on sale.
The over the counter medications and first aid items have come in handy in a couple of human and pet emergencies. They even care «intimacy» products. How do I know? I needed some KY one day when my dog had an issue getting «Mr. Willie» back in his «house». Yep, they had it. They have just about everything.
