My daughter and I had dinner there last night. After we left, both of us didn’t feel well. In 2 hours we were extremely sick. We had the chili cheese dogs. Today we are feeling so bad. I hope the employees didn’t know the food was bad. Every single one of them was in a bad mood.

Made me think of Michigan. Food was decent for what it is. Very affordable. I doubt the family will return but I would stop by when I need a cheap coney dog fix. Staff was friendly but took a while to get the order correct.

Once I got word that I was going to be in Houston I had to try this local legend. It wasn’t bad. The restaurant is clean and the people are friendly. The dogs are on the small side and you can easily put down two for lunch. Ordered a Cheese Coney(Mustard, Chili Sauce, Cheese Whiz, Onions) and a Original(Mustard, Coney Sauce, Onions). The bun was nice and soft from the steaming and the Coney Sauce was nicely seasoned(paprika???). Overall it was a perfectly good lunch but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get again.

Since I was a kid JCI has been a place that always satisfies. My order has never changed. 4 Cheese Coneys, a large delaware Punch and Cheese Fries… When I eat a hot dog it os always being compared to the hot dogs here but nothing EVER compares…

I don’t usually go to JCI, but I have eaten here a few times and had not had a problem until today. The kids like to go here because they like the ice cream at the end of their meal. I must say the ice cream made our night bearable. Before that though, it was terrible. I went to the counter to order and stood there for a while, confused as to who was going to take my order. There were three employees but nobody took my order until finally a young boy with a very soft, low voice asked if I was ready. I gave him my order and had a hard time understanding what he was responding. I decided it didn’t matter and moved to the cash register. I paid, got our drinks and went to sit. They brought my Greek salad out first, and it was missing the bread on the side. No biggie. Then my kids’ chicken tenders and French fries arrived. My kids were starving, so I quickly started to cut their tenders into smaller pieces with a knife. I was shocked to see the chicken was RAW! Both of their orders of chicken tenders were raw. Completely inedible. I was so glad that I cut into them before they bit them. My kids could have gotten very sick. I took their plates to the counter and told the lady nicely, «the chicken is raw». It would have been nice of them to offer an apology or acknowledge the inconvenience of having my kids wait for their food longer but nothing was said. They simply took the order and finished cooking the chicken, then brought it out to me. At that point I asked about my bread and the employee simply nodded and went back to the kitchen. A few moments later, I had my bread. I will most likely not go back to this location. JCI is not a bad place, they have some good menu items, but this location has employees that need better training in food preparation and customer service.

If you are looking for a staff who could care less that you are there, or a manager who yells across the restaurant, or below par food then this is the place for you. Staff acted as if they did not even know we were there. Rude and un caring seems to be the norm at this location. The price you pay is not worth the food you are served. Will not be back to this location.

I ate at the old downtown original location on Walker street when I was 9 years old [ 1957 ] they were two(2) for 35 cents. Yesterday we ate here and they had watered down cheese sauce with barely any chili or onions — paid $ 20 for a few hot dogs and a delaware punch —

I wanted to try something that I can’t get in California, so I went here. I ordered the foootlong chili cheese dog. Some fries and a soda. They literally only gave us like a handful of fries and said that was a medium. Then my hot dog was a brownish color on the outside and like a pinkish color on the inside. And the bun was super dry. My mom got a corndog which was good cuz it was actually fresh. Would I go back? Probably not. Most of the employees were nice though… the manager wasn’t though.

You have to love James Coney Island if you consider your self a true Houstonian by birth or not… Great new dawgs abound the menu but the classic cheese coney is still the all time winner! Love the chili cheese tater tots!

I like James Coney Island. I think the food is good. I would encourage you to order their burgers or other menu items than just a coney dog. I think their staff is nice, and they will bring your food to your table. No complaints here. If you want a gourmet hot dog go to Moon Tower.

Food was ok, loved the tater tots tho. Our first time here and we made them aware of it and they just starred at us, haha, hello?! Staff a lil rude, cashier chewing gum like a horse, and swiped my credit card on the swiper like 10 times rapidly like if it was her dildo, i exclaimed, your going to ruin my card… cashier stated while chewing her gum, which almost fell out of her mouth, ill get the mgr, haha, what a funny african american un-educated little girl. Overall 1⁄5 stars. I’ll never go there again.
