It’s now been 4 years that I have been going to FX. I’m very happy with my stylist, I’ve changed a couple of times. She does a fantastic job and the products available for purchase are great. The scalp massage is muy bueno!
The cinemas are a bit gimmicky. I mean who uses it? I feel like I should I’m in a peep show looking at the screen.
The ice cream has disappeared from the front. It was always rock hard anyway.

What a unique idea and concept, getting your hair cut in a private booth within a movie theater. I love it!
I had to deviate away from my barber a couple times this year and FX is the goto for me. The price is a bit higher than average but you get what you pay for and the experience is top notch. The girls cut my hair great and the massage and warm towel is very nice. I love the movie theater and private booth environment, its very warm and cozy.

I enjoyed my experience. Love the private manicure and pedicure rooms with individual televisions. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch as well. Little pricey but worth the cost. They have theaters to relax in while you wait and after services. If you are looking for a great esthetician see Jessica or Maria they are both wonderful.

This place is amazing. Recently went for a facial. I had Maria b. She was great. Made me feel very relaxed. The room was very cozy quiet and comfortable. Will definitely be going back

Very happy with my experience. They walked me through what I wanted and gave excellent advice and even did a how to after so I could do the same styling at home.

I recently visited, toured, and had a men’s Final Cut here. I was quite reluctant to even try it out given the higher cost than what I have always paid elsewhere, but it was well worth every dollar. The place is amazing and the most customer focused, certainly for a hair styling salon (just the tip of the iceberg — fitness center, Wellness center, and more), of any business I have ever visited. Although I’m sure I won’t watch every movie showing the days I am there, the free drinks and ice cream are a great perk.
My stylist, Jen D was amazing as well! After bouncing around over the past few years searching for someone with both a good personality and talent to cut/​style my hair, it was such a delight to find someone SO talented. Far surpassed my expectations, and I’m tough to please as you can see by my other Unilocal reviews.
The only negative is finding the place the first time, as others have commented. Once you turn on to Pepper Rd from Schilling, don’t be impatient to turn; several blocks down there is a sign on your right, then head to the end of the first large long building. It is actually pretty well documented on Google maps, not so great on Waze.
Give them a try.

The salon is cool, but I won’t go back. I spent $ 250 on a cezanne treatment (similar to a keratin treatment) that did NOT work! Not only did it not work, it dried out my hair so bad that I have had to have 2 conditioning treatments since and have had to purchase expensive hydrating shampoo and conditioner to fix it. I called and complained and they brought me in to do a «conditioning treatment» which my other salon does for me for FREE. That did not make up for the amount of money I spent on the treatment and the products I needed to go out and buy to bring life back into my hair. SO disappointed in how they handled this.

Paige saved my hair! After a pretty messed up cut elsewhere in Baltimore, I decided to give Paige a call. She fixed my curly hair right up! The atmosphere is pleasant, comfortable and relaxing. Great place! Great stylist!

I love coming here for haircuts and manicures. Definitely an unique experience. Great service, good atmosphere, great staff. My manicurist Lana and hairstylist Kat are true gems to the salon community in the area. Highly recommended.

Today was my first visit to FX studios. I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Top notch treatment from the moment I walked in to the moment I left.
The receptionist was very helpful and nice, explaining everything to me simply and politely. My stylist was superb! She asked all the right questions to find out what I wanted. My haircut turned out amazing, and the scalp massage completely relaxed me. Plus, getting to watch Captain America in my own private room while I got my haircut was awesome!
I highly recommend trying this place. I was extremely nervous about leaving the saloon I was seeing for years, but after sucking it up and trying something new, I couldn’t be more satisfied.
Only bad thing I can say– its a little tricky to find…

I love this place. But I gotta be honest, I only go there, when my husband and in-​laws give me «gift cards», this way I don’t feel «guilty» about the prices… lol…
I’ve never done my hair there, only got massages and had my nails done.
This is a very cozy place, with treats of wine, coffee, tea, sodas, ice cream, private room with tv just for you. And you get that intimate treatment. The last time I went to get my nails done, I was lucky to be pampered by «Lana», whom I highly recommend. She is this sweet, Russian lady that has been a nail technician for over 42 years, so believe me, she is that GOOD and she will take really good care of you and your nails. I’ve got mine done in the beginning of February, we are in April now and my toes still look great… can’t wait to go back and see her again (I still have one more treat from my last gift card)… lol

Not my usual spot but was in need of a shape up. They def did a good job. Still
Gotta see my usual barber but will recommend to someone who needs a Shapeup or haircut

FX has a great facility with a cool concept of pairing movies with getting your hair cut. An attached spa and gym add to the range of services.
The experience was very good and my hair cut was very nice. I think I’ve had better hair cuts but after going to the same place for so long it’s hard to tell.
Overall, I’d go back if I needed to and I was away from home.

An update to this is neceassry I think. After contacting them via phone a few times they were eventually able to resolve the CC issue and mailed me a gift card for the trouble.

You get a private room with a flat screen (select your own channels), surround sound, plenty of refreshments (and ice cream), a great scalp massage and treatment, hot face towel all while you get your haircut.
The stylist was attentive and listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions and was very friendly.
Did I mention that they have a movie theater where you can lounge around if you arrive early?!

For the most part I hate getting haircuts. Regardless, every five weeks my hair requires a trim. FX is the best place in town, hands down. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are at a luxurious hotel spa, yet it’s still casual and in no way pretentious. All of the receptionists are super friendly and always offer you complimentary tea, coffee, soda, or even WINE & BEER!
If you go, you have to get «The Final Cut» which is an all-​inclusive men’s haircut. For $ 33 you get whatever you want to drink, you sit in a private room while you watch the personal TV or the movie playing in the screening room. Oh and you also get a great haircut, which also includes a 10 minute menthol scalp message, while having steamed towel on your face. All this luxurious treatment for only $ 33.
You would pay close to $ 20 at a Haircuttery for a haircut that you will probably have to correct at home, so just spend the extra couple of bucks at a real salon.

When it comes to getting my hair done, I am about as patient as a 2-​year-​old getting her first haircut. At first I thought FX Studios was just for guys, but they do women’s hair too. Glad I took a chance and tried this salon! I had a formal event to go to and really dreaded the thought of sitting in some snobby hair salon to get my hair done. At FX, you get a room all to yourself, plus you can watch a movie or a selection of cable channels.
Service here is superb. The receptionist was super-​friendly. My stylist, Sheryl, was totally friendly too, and in a genuinely nice way. A few minutes before my appointment, I used one of the computers in the waiting room to browse some hairstyles online, then I let Sheryl work her magic. The result was an elegant chignon-​style updo that I got tons of compliments for at the evening event.
I paid $ 75, plus a tip, and for what I got — excellent service, total privacy, and a movie or TV to make the time pass quicker — I think that’s more than worth the price!

The enthusiastic reviews on Unilocal led me to FX Studios in search of a moderately priced haircut from a salon and not a franchisey place. I figure a haircut is one of the few opportunities a guy can have to pamper himself.
For starters, it’s at the back of the building on Pepper Road… be aware of that so you don’t end up driving around in circles like I did.
The first thing the hostess asked after I checked in was if I wanted a beer. I struggled for a nanosecond before saying yes. I noticed there was also a soda machine, filtered water dispenser, and I think there was a coffee machine, too.
I didn’t get a change to really check out the waiting area because my hair stylist showed up very quickly. But it looked nice, it had some computers setup, magazines. You do get a restaurant-​style «buzzer» so you know when your wait is over.
My stylist was the wonderful Karen, who has been working there for seven years. What struck me as fantastic off the bat was if I preferred a scissors cut or using the electric clipper. (I hate electric hair clippers, they make my hair look pokey.) We talked about length, style, etc., and she really understood that I’m a «wait til it needs cutting» kind of guy. She’s also in charge of setting the movie schedule, although when I visited, the computers running the movies had crashed, so there was no big screen movie.
Worth mentioning is that along with the big screen movie, there are other movies available on the in-​studio TV that are usually less «family friendly» (such as swearing), and a selection of cable channels.
One thing that I really enjoyed about the personal hair studio was that there weren’t any other typical salon distractions. It really allowed me to get to know Karen, who is a bigger geek than me (she plays DND… I could never force myself to do that).
I really enjoyed the hot face towel and scalp massage at the end, with wonderful tingly camphor and eucalyptus oil. The fact that I could just sit in the chair and be wheeled over to the sink was nice, too.
As for the price… some people will say it’s expensive. My old haircut used to cost over $ 50 and didn’t include beer, movies, scalp massage, or ice cream. Did I mention that — there’s a chest freezer of Cold Stone ice cream by the front doors. So, it is a good deal for the level of service you’ll receive!

Yea just wow.
Not many places make me wow but I’ve using FX studio’s for about 5 years or so now and every time I’ve been impressed. From the moment you enter your greeted with a warm smile, attractive poopers, and while waiting your offered a complimentary beer or water,. it just feels right.
Classy upscale atmosphere, professional friendly staff and service that has never disappointed is what this place has been.
try this place, you won’t be disappointed.
