This place has so much potential but based on the experience I had, I will never go back willingly. A friend had a birthday here some time ago. We had a group of 8 people and none of us have been here before. We went based on a recommendation. Upon arrival on a Friday night, the place was completely empty. Our party was the only one there. Appetizers were ordered before I arrived, however they didn’t actually get served till about 30 minutes later. The host was extremely upset because the appetizers he was«recommended» by the waiter were tiny and it was not explained that each dish would only have 6 pieces for 8 people. It would of been nice for the waiter to actually suggest either 2 of the same appetizers, or an appetizer that everyone could try. Nonetheless, appetizers were very good. What drove me absolutely crazy was that it took about an HOUR and 15 minutes for anyone to see their main dish. Not only that only 2 people got their main course at a time! Every 15 – 20 minutes a new dish was brought up as MAINCOURSES. So the polite thing to do of course is wait for everyone to have their dish before you can start eating. This was the longest birthday dinner I have ever been to in my life. By the time we all had our food it was cold and we were all too unhappy to even enjoy our meals. Which to be honest was nothing special. The Brazino was decent, the steak really seemed overly fatty and not that appetizing. The best part of the night is that about 5 minutes into eating our main course we all smelled cigarette smoke coming from the kitchen. There’s a sure way to make sure none ever comes back.. We told the waiter, who just said, okay and walked into the kitchen. Apparently an apology isn’t required here.

Ok, I’ve been to many restaurants. Some good, some bad. This was a terrible place for a date on Valentine’s Day. Let me start… DeFloppe is a flop. Sounds French/Italian/Modern and turns out to be anything but that. Walking in, I’m magically transported to a Russian restaurant with yes, LOUD Russians. And on Valentine’s Day no less. It’s sort of pathetic to be quite honest. Interior was BRIGHT. Unromantic. Seating was totally un-thought of in regards to proper placement. Large tables next to couples so all you can hear is sputnik instead of your date. There’s a time and place for everything and celebrating V Day with an entire Russian family is retarded. Maybe they thought V stands for Victory Day or something. It’s a night for Romance people. Damn… Food. Set appetizer: meh. Nothing really good. Ordered Lamb Lollipops, as there was a set menu with just(2) entre choices. Don’t get me wrong, I love lamb… but talk about the smallest, thinnest, overcooked lamb I’ve literally ever had. Seriously? Where the heck is Gordon Ramsey when you need him. Embarrassing. A two choice menu and you come out with overcooked, and cheap food. The bill? Not so cheap. Again, just a below average Russian restaurant experience in the NE. All show and no real substance. Sorry if this review offends people but its a big world and if you are going to advertise yourself as a fine dining experience then try to be. Word to the wise: If you want to impress a Russian girl for a night out that doesn’t know what good food is take her here otherwise take the extra time and spend the same amount on a quality establishment in Philly.

We decided to try out this place, as it was not too far away. Both of us did not like our starters. We think that the chef or cook needs some more time learning how to compose meals that blend well. The food needs flavor and should be recognizable . Our entrees were not good either. Forget the desert… Do not get the chocolate crepes as they are nothing like real crepes and served ice cold with a bad tasting cheese filling. The service was good, so we gave the place 2 stars. We will not return.

So I will preface this by saying that I’m“m only giving this place 3 stars because the food was really good(and it’s BYOB). But the service sucked. FOOD: We did a prefix menu that included a lot of wonderful little things in the beginning, so I’ll just tell you about the ones that stood out. The pâté — Please skip the beet one. The duck and liver one was great, on these tiny little crostinis. The salad with strawberries, goat cheese, blueberries, greens and nuts was absolutely amazing. If I could’ve licked the bowl I would’ve. The ratatouille was a cold one, with lots of squash and yellow tomatoes, a little on the sweet side. A nice change of pace. The spicy salmon salad reminded me very much of something I’ve been served at sushi places, lots of mayo, spicy sauce was great, the salmon is raw for the of you not into that kind of thing. I enjoyed it very much, just did not expect it from a French restaurant. The chicken rollettini of some sort, cold stuffed with cheese and spinach — that was awful. Maybe warm would be a good plate, but cold was pretty much disgusting. Especially because it had a layer of skin(and fat) on it that was just like biting into a piece of lard… well exactly that actually. The salmon stuffed with cheese and spinach. It brought a side of mashed potatoes and other veggies. This was the icing on the cake! Whatever gravy is put on the salmon is absolutely marvelous. Sadly we had so many little things before this, that I took only one bite and the rest had to be boxed to be forgotten in my fridge. :( My date had the fillet Mignon that were thing slices also rolled up with some zucchini and gravy. He enjoyed it very much. I prefer my meat well done and the chef was not taking any suggestions so I opted for the fish. Sadly it took them nearly 45 mins to give us water AND that was with me trying to wave down a server for 30 of those mins. I came here on Valentines day, so yes I assumed service was going to be crappy, BUT the place was not packed at all, so it really should not have been. Unfortunately they had 3 poor servers running around like maniacs trying to do everything and anything and it was just too much. This is def a place you take someone on a first date or special occasion. The place itself has great ambiance, very romantic. That night they had live music and the crowd was a bit on the loud end, but I still really enjoyed dinner.
