It takes a special group of people to make a person feel comfortable after their dog had been badly bitten by another dog twice its size. I write a bunch of reviews, but this will be my first thank you letter on Unilocal.
Dr. Hashimoto was a miracle worker and got my little guy back on his feet after just one day. He is healing fantastically and will be better in no time. It lifts my heart to see his tail already wagging! The team at the Pet Hospital made it very easy to follow instructions on what meds to give my kiddo and an easy to follow time table.
I am easily making The Pet Hospital our family physician!

So happy with their service! It felt like dealing with family and the Dr. Hashimoto was so friendly, honest, and fair with pricing and treatment recommendations. My rescue alley cat was having symptoms of a urinary tract infections and I was worried I’d have to pay a bunch of money. Fortunately, she recommended a urinary culture (which showed signs of a blockage), using antibiotics, and switching to wet food /​c/​d food. We used the antibiotics and switched to wet food, and he ended up passing his blockage whether it was from the antibiotics or naturally. Nonetheless, I was happy she didn’t try to sell me on a more expensive route of treatment. I would like to come back soon to have my dogs teeth cleaned. Thank you!

Dr. Lizardo and his staff are awesome! We’ve been coming here for over 3 years, so this review is long overdue. Our dog Dottie randomly ate wood and was super sick. We brought her in twice for the same issue because we were nervous that she wasn’t getting better. The second visit was on a Saturday and they wouldn’t be back until Monday and guess who called Sunday morning to check on Dottie?! He cares about his furry patients and goes above and beyond. My husband and I couldn’t be happier with their services. You won’t be disappointed.

Not my regular vet, but I brought my friend’s dog here a few months ago when he got into some old chocolate while staying at my house. The whole staff knew the dog and greeted him like a family member, and the doctor was very helpful and not only told me he would be fine, but took the time to explain the reason chocolate is bad for dogs (I knew that it was, but not why) and how much it would take to be harmful. They charged less than $ 40 for the office visit, too.

I had a hard time finding a good vet for my two dogs. They are both rescues and it seemed most vets were afraid of the chihuahua terrier mix. A friend kept recommending this hospital and I didn’t take her advice until the last vet I had was very unprofessional. Oh wow, I wish I had gone to these guys before. Dr. Lizardo and Dr. Hashimoto are amazing. Every other vet I have gone to tries to pad their bills with unnecessary procedures. Not these guys. I have even said to Dr. Lizardo «shouldn’t I get his teeth cleaned now?» and he said, not unless you have $ 350 burning a hole in your pocket. He urged me to wait until dental health month to save some money and showed me on a chart what stage my dog’s teeth were in. He assured me his teeth were fine. They don’t treat me like an idiot, they know I am knowledgeable in the care of my dogs and they treat me with respect. I never feel rushed and the prices are pretty reasonable. Take your pets here. You will not regret it. Best vets in Orange County!!!

I just transferred my dogs to this vet and am very pleased after the first visit. The place is small and parking is not plentiful, but the staff are great and the vet took her time with each dog. Felt very thorough and caring.

My dogs loved it here! Such a great place and we are soo lucky to have found them! Our dogs boarded here and we were very happy with them!

We love Dr Lizardo. A friend from work recommended their practice, and for over 3 years we have been trusting Dr Lizardo with our furry children’s care. It’s easy to get an appointment and they are open Saturdays. I always trust Dr Lizardo’s judgement. He’s a great vet. We had been on the search for a really good vet for a few years before we found him. We tried 3 other clinics in the area before finding him. I wouldn’t consider taking my pets elsewhere. Dr lizardo and staff are super friendly and nice! My dog nova is skittish but they’re really sweet with her and she loves them! That really says a lot too because it didn’t go well at other locations. They take time with you and your pet.

Drs. Lazardo and Hashimoto have been taking wonderful care of my pets for several years now. I wish I had known them when they opened this practice 10 yr ago. Not only are they extremely knowledgeable regarding cats and dogs and any ailments that they may have (minor or major), they are also compassionate towards pets and their «owners». They do not do unnecessary tests on their patients (I once had a vet that wanted to do exploratory surgery on a diabetic cat when other vets would not even take out a loose tooth for that pet due to the severity of the diabetes). When my dog Ruggles was brought in for a check up due to some concerns 2 yr ago, the doctors were able to find the cause of her anemia (cancer) immediately via x-​ray due to their ability to problem solve and their experience. It is a wonderful balance – their knowledge, intuitiveness, and genuine compassion. So refreshing to have veterinarians I can trust and not take advantage of my love for my pets. thank you

I’ve always boarded my dogs here and they are wonderful! The whole staff knows my dogs name’s and they all play with them! They really care about your pets!

Great first experience here. Helpful, friendly veterinarian. Thorough and infornative. Facilities could use a little work but would not detract me from visiting again.

BBPH is an older facility that’s kind of stuck further back from the road, between a Chipotle and an auto service; you have to really pay attention when you’re driving down Beach Blvd, or you’ll be slamming on the brakes to avoid the dreaded Heil-​Gothard-​Edinger backtrack. It’s happened to me a few times. yeah, I was born a blonde.
Our Labrador retriever will be turning 8 this year, and Drs. Lizardo and Hashimoto have been his vets since he was a one-​year-​old pup. In all that time, Tabasco has been a healthy dog, only requiring a few visits for minor wounds in between the yearly vaccination appointments. Unlike the previous vet which we had taken him to when he was a two-​month-​old baby, BBPH seems genuinely concerned about the animals in their care, as opposed to padding the bill with gratuitous x-​rays «just to be certain». Dr. Lizardo seems especially knowledgeable about retrievers (he owns a Golden) and his insight into this wonderful breed has been invaluable in his evaluations of our dog. That’s seven years of solid, reliable medical care for our boy — we have a lot of confidence in BBPH!
Just a note: save your «Elizabethan collars», aka Cones of Shame, after your pet is all better — down the road, you’ll likely need one again, and they charge you seventeen bucks for one of the larger, Labrador-​sized collars (I don’t know what the smaller versions cost). Ouch!

Dr. Lizardo and staff are courteous and professional. Prices are reasonable in here. Took my chug in here twice now and will be back next month for her teeth cleaning. The vet told me to put off the teeth cleaning until February, National Pet Dental Health Month, when the office will offer discount for dental services. So I listened and will definitely be back next month.

I just got back from taking my normally skittish cat, Rocky, for his annual checkup.
It was a pleasure to take him as Rocky wasn’t the slightest bit nervous or upset. The doctors, who are husband and wife, have a great way with our pets; Olive, our Boston Terrier, and Rocky out cat. Our babies are eager to see the vets when we drive up.
Only once have we had an emergency. We were told to bring Olive right in and she was attended to immediately. We thought it was an emergency, but it really wasn’t nearly as bad as we thought but she was treated very promptly. Our pets have had their surgeries there and all has gone very well.
Drs. Hashimoto and Lizardo are the best.

This is absolutely the best vet I’ve had since I moved to CA 12 years ago and said goodbye to the vet I had in Texas. Dr. Lizardo and Dr. Hashimoto are a married couple who LOVE their patients and know their owners by name and face. This is every sense of the word «family practice».
We’ve been coming here for about 6 years. These two doctors treated my sister’s cat for her kidney disease and we kept little Deeda going for about a year before it was her time. They took care of my cat Kiki from age 14 to age 20… and I drove all the way back from Fresno when I had been living there with a guy in order for them to take a last look at her when she was sick and be the ones to be with me and her in her last moments.
I now have a new kitty named Charlie and he is 1 year old. We got him from a rescue shelter and he’s the sweetest boy. However, he would have probably darwinized himself by now if it weren’t for Dr. Lizardo. He’s managed to get his tail smashed and need it amputated (the tissue became necrotic beyond where the tail injury was), got his face stung by a bee and had a reaction, had a fungal infection in his nose, and now he got into my sewing thread when I accidentally left the door open and was gone for a day.
I came back to thread all over the house and thought nothing of it, but the next evening he threw up 12 times and refused to eat and became very lethargic. Beach Blvd Pet Hospital ALWAYS makes room for your pets when they need to be seen urgently. If it is during office hours they WILL see you if you need them. Dr. Hashimoto examined Charlie and was concerned for his reaction to his tummy exam so they did an X-​ray and found nothing.
The two Dr’s discussed the situation and suggested to me that they do exploratory surgery. It wasn’t cheap, but it was MUCH cheaper than it would have been at somewhere like VCA or one of the big fancy clinics. As someone who has worked in the medical field, I completely understand the fees and I find the prices of this place beyond reasonable.
I asked them to do it after he explained to me the reason why it was necessary, and SURE ENOUGH… Dr. Lizardo found 3 FEET of black thread coiled up in his small intestine. Charlie would have died a few days later from the string getting stuck in his intestines and causing them to shift and bunch up. What a horrible way for a sweet animal to die. If it wasn’t for Dr. Lizardo’s quick thinking he would not have made it. I am so glad to have this vet. There are many times in which I have lived all over Southern California (Pasadena, Van Nuys, Monrovia, LA) and I always would be willing to drive 100+ miles to this vet to have these Dr’s see my pets. I even did it when I lived in Fresno. Bring your pet here.
Don’t let the small and slightly old look of this place turn you away and send you to some fancy place. Interior design doesn’t make a good vet. How they treat your animals does, and how they make them better. Once again, thank you guys from the bottom of my heart!!!

my dog kiwi and i have been coming here for the last 4 years.
one of the main things i look for in a doctor (for both human and pet) is someone that’s HONEST and doesn’t try to SELL me. the last pet hospital that i took my dog to, tried to prescribe $ 700 – 800 worth of treatment for d**rhea.
the first time i met with dr. lizardo, i made sure i grilled him with questions to check to see if he would try to sell me on unnecessary treatment. dr. lizardo actually does the opposite.
i was worried that my dog might have alopecia X. my friend’s dog is going through the same thing and she did a ton of research online and constantly asked her vet what new tests they could run. i mentioned all of these test options to dr. lizardo and he said that my dog didn’t possess any other symptoms to suggest that she has hypothyroid or any other disease. he said that we could run the blood tests if i want, but they’re expensive and he believes that they would come up negative. the hair loss is just cosmetic and kiwi isn’t suffering. i ended up doing the blood test just to make sure and it did come out negative.
i’ve only met dr. hashimoto once, and she was really great with kiwi. kiwi had thrown up 8 times in one day (i made the mistake of feeding her over and over again… didn’t know you were supposed to fast your dog if they throw up and/​or have d**rhea) and we went to an emergency vet down the street because it was sunday. i brought kiwi in first thing monday morning and they kept her there all day to monitor her. they knew how upset i was and that i already spent a lot at the emergency vet, they didn’t charge me for her all day stay. the would try to feed her a tablespoon of sensitive stomach food every few hours to see if she had an appetite and if she would keep it down. i picked kiwi up later that afternoon, and in a couple of days, she was back to normal.
the office visits aren’t expensive and they have their discounted vaccines when they do their vaccination clinic. the staff is friendly and nice. everyone’s really easy to work with. i haven’t had any problems with beach blvd pet hospital and i suggest to all my friends with pets and new pet owners to take their pets here.

We have a cat. She needs shots sometimes. Fortunately, we haven’t had any other vet needs aside from routine stuff. My GF initially found this place and since then we’ve had appointments with Drs. Lizardo and Hashimoto. I found them to both have good ‘bedside’ manners and informative.
I believe their prices for vaccinations and other exams are competitive, but I haven’t looked around to too many other places.
You won’t be disappointed taking your pet here — no frills, but all smiles and a good job done!

I will begin by acknowledging that I am a nervous, first-​time dog mom and probably a little crazy in that regard.
I think I found this pet hospital by a Google search when Bizzy needed her first set of shots, and it won because of the close proximity at the time. I drove right past it at first though, since it is pretty tiny and once I found it, considered leaving just based on outside appearances. It’s a teeny little structure in a parking lot. But I did bring her in, and the girls at the front desk were very nice.
They brought me into a room which I didn’t think was quite as clean as it should probably be. I was brushing another dog’s hair off my pants when I left, let’s put it that way. I would expect they do surgeries elsewhere, but still. One of the impossibly young girls from the desk was the person who administered the shots, which I didn’t expect either. It was all successful obviously, but I left thinking I really wanted to find a more clinical environment (and I did).
If you like a more family-​oriented feel, Beach Blvd. is probably a good choice as I haven’t heard anything bad about it, here or elsewhere. I don’t want to sound like a snob, but I personally feel more comfortable taking my precious furball to a place that is more sterile than homey.

We had a decent vet for my two previous cats, but since they both had to be put down there, I wanted to seperate myself from those sad experiences and start fresh at a new place with my new kitty.
Beach Boulevard Pet Hospital was recommended to me by a good friend whose dog had undergone surgery there with fantastic results (and apparently it was quite affordable compared to other vet’s quotes). This place is run by a husband and wife vet team… a real family place. First impression: unlike a lot of the vet hospitals in this area, BBPH is cheerful and welcoming on the outside. Inside is the same. The vet tech/​receptionist was a total sweetheart and friendly. Dr. Lizardo seems like a great vet and told us about their vaccination clinics where prices are 50% off. I’m really happy to have found BBPH for my kitty. Really good vibes here and for first time clients there is a free exam… that’s right, we didn’t pay anything for her checkup :)
