Beach Eye Medical Group

I have worked with Dr. Shah in a business capacity for nearly 2 years now. He has shown himself to be an honest, ethical doctor who both cares about his patients and partners, and cares about improving his craft. Having worked with him on technology and consulting projects and having a background running some of the busier practices in the country, I feel very comfortable recommending him to patients in California.

I’ve been to multiple eye doctors over the years and this is by far the best experience I’ve had. The staff is prompt, efficient, and extremely courteous. Dr. Khalil Semaan was knowledgeable and insightful on how my eyes needed to be corrected. I was so confident with his abilities that I brought my children to see them as well. My wife and I now see Beach Eye Medical Group regularly. They are one of the best full service eye centers in Orange County and needless to say I highly recommend them.

These doctors go above and beyond any other doctor I have ever been to. I started seeing Beach Eye just a couple years ago and to be frank, Dr. Shah and McCluskey saved my life, not just my vision. They diagnosed a silent heart condition with what they saw in my eye. I went to the cardiologist and he told me if they hadn’t sent me over, I wouldn’t be here right now! The cardiologist was very impressed with them… later I found out he actually has been a patient of Beach Eye for years and trusts them with his own eyes! I can tell you that there isn’t a day that goes by that my family and I don’t say a prayer for them. I owe them my life. Because I’m still here, I can tell you for 100%, these guys are the real deal. They’re the best in their field. I had seen another eye doctor for years and he never picked up on my condition. Dr. Shah is also the best cataract surgeon in the area and even does free surgery for charity all over the world… the guy loves what he does and it shows. He told me once, «if I had all the money in the world, I would still be doing this!»
When choosing a doctor, I try to pick them by their skill and ability. You don’t go to the doctor to get treated for your condition by the front desk. I’ve never had any issue with their front desk staff. In fact, Katie is very straightforward. I appreciate that because she fought with my insurance company to get me covered for what I needed. She didn’t let the insurance company roll over on her.
The wait time is not unreasonable. In fact, usually it is minimal. If they spent 30 seconds with each person during the exam, you wouldn’t have any wait time. But they don’t. They take the necessary time and answer all of your questions to make sure that you have been treated like a person and not an assembly line. So if you have a little wait time, just realize it is because they actually are going to spend time with you when it’s your turn. Going to find another doctor because you didn’t like the wait time or the front desk is like never going to a Lakers basketball game again because the usher didn’t greet you when you were trying to find your seat… are you going to be a Celtics fan now??? Of course not.
They also have a new eye doc in the office that is super laid back and very nice — Dr Semaan. I got my glasses from him and Celia.
I would recommend this place highly and wouldn’t go anywhere else for eye care… period.

I wish I could give zero stars. I was mis-​diagnosed. Told to come back in 6 months. I followed my common sense and had a second opinion which resulted in needing to see a retina specialist. I am undergoing injections for wet macular degeneration which Dr. Shah said was a «swelling» after cataract surgery.

My exam and consultation was great and very professional. But the greeting from the front office was very cold and rude. My first impression was not good. Don’t plan on returning or recommending them.

I thought I was having an eye emergency and BEMG were able to squeeze me in right away! Everybody was very friendly and I was in and out in no time!

I was referred to Dr. Shah at Beach Eye Medical by my primary care physician.
As I was a new patient, some paper work was needed prior to my eye exam and consultation with Dr. Shah. Service from the time I arrived to completion was excellent.
All staff was friendly and thorough. Dr. Shah was very clear and caring in his final consultation and review of my eye health.
All in all, an excellent experience.

Truly, this group is as good as it gets! The entire office staff is so kind and truly helps you to get it done. Drs. Shah and McCluskey are so professional and I feel that they really care about me. This quality seems so absent in today’s world and to find it in the health care industry seems to be a rare find for me. I am in my eighties and am in good physical health except for my vision, so I feel truly blessed to have found this awesome staff to take care of my vision need. I am sure anyone can recognize a 5 star plus review!!!

I strongly recommend seeing Dr. Shah. I found him online after reading reviews from over patients that said how smart and thorough professional he is. I wanted to see the BEST, most progressive ophthalmologist with the latest hi tech equipment; after all, It my eyes most important of senses! I am glad I met Dr Shah — I have never felt so well taken care of ! Dr. Shah is exactly the kind of physician I was looking for– so meticulous and so approachable. He also took my employer provided insurance. Would be recommending to all my friends.

Awesome service and very knowledgeable staff. Dr. Shah saved me during my eye emergency. It is quick and everyone is extremely kind. Would definitely recommend it to everyone. As for the poor reviews, please don’t listen to them i think they might be thinking of the wrong place.

Found this place on Unilocal… I had an eye emergency and thank goodness Dr. McCluskey had a cancellation for the day I needed to see her the most.
The office staff was so kind and patient throughout the entire process and when it was time to pay my co-​pay the girl was as sweet as could be when I realized I had forgotten my flexible spending account credit card. I asked if it was ok that I call her with the numbers when I got home and she was more than happy with that.
The doctor gave me some free samples of drops and gel for my eye and I was on my way… I will definitely go back.

As soon as I entered the office, I was met by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Service was prompt and they made buying glasses easy going and swift. The glasses were reasonably priced and sturdy.
I highly recommend this office and I would definitely come here again. Thank you!

Love this place! Went in for an eye exam and the staff was extremely nice and professional. Lorry was so helpful and seemed to care about my concerns (and laid them to rest) and questions. They have a great selection of eye wear and I loved all the styles they carry. I told my mother in law and her mom to come here to get their prescription fixed and they totally did that and more! They also fixed their glasses that were broken!!! Thanks Beach Eye Medical Group!!!

Love beach eye medical group! Such a friendly and helpful staff. Every step was well explained, and was a delightful experience! The staff is funny and caring about everyone who comes in.

I had a great experience at Beach Eye Medical Group. I seriously scratched my cornea the night before and in the morning I knew I needed to see a Doctor ASAP. I called them 9 AM and had an appointment at 1 PM. I only had to wait a few minutes and the entire staff and Doctor were very professional. I don’t have insurance and the cost of the visit was only $ 99. I had a large abrasion on my cornea, the doctor immediately relived the pain and placed a temporary lens in my eye to protect it and speed the healing. He also gave me a prescription for an antibiotic eye drop to prevent infection. I was impressed with their service and expertise!

My procedure was very smoothly executed. My doctor (Dr.Shah) is very knowledgeable and he answered all my questions prior to my procedure during consultation. I would recommend him. Post treatment was very good as well. His office is clean but the front staff is ok (could be little better — smile, greet, etc).

I had my procedure done with Dr. Shah and he is very thorough and patient with his analysis. Updated equipment and cleanliness is something I am very particular about and I found that in their office.

Avoid at all costs.
It is important to make a distinction between the actual doctors who provide services here and the corporate abomination that is Beach Eye Medical Group. We saw a doctor at this group who was talented, competent, and everything you’d want in a doctor. We stopped seeing him because we just needed to peel the sticky tentacles of Beach Eye Medical Group from our lives.
Every customer-​facing service this organization provides for the affiliated doctors, they do poorly. They are rude, don’t return phone calls, can’t manage their schedule in a competent way. Expect long wait times (sometimes hours not just minutes) and bad attitudes from the office staff if you decide to visit. They’ve proven to us that they are truly terrible people with their only talent being the ability to relentlessly fire out invoices. They’ve billed us for services they didn’t provide and they’ve helpfully miscoded other bills to ensure that they can’t be paid by our insurance.
Generally speaking, I don’t like to leave terrible feedback; an organization has a lot of different people and everyone has bad days, etc. After having tried to resolve billing issues with this group for a few months now both individually and through our insurance I have, with much thought and care, deemed this whole group to be willfully despicable.
So, with that said, If you would like to see a doctor at this organization (and some of the doctors here are great), I would suggest that you find some other way to see that doctor; many doctors work out of multiple offices and if you can see them through another group outside the purview of Beach Eye Medical Group then that would be the way to go.

I have been going to Beach Eye Medical Group for about 10 years. The doctors are great! But I will not be returning here because of the extremely bad service from all the front desk staff. They can care less about my business. They do not return calls or just disconnect my phone calls. I needed help with a eye problem and they said I could not talk to the Doctor or I could just wait 2 hours and maybe I could talk to the doctor at that time. Shame on you girls you are distorting a good business.
Just a note to Beach Eye Medical Group. There are many Eye doctors through out HB. If you do not want my money, I am sure that any of the other optomalmolgest in town will be happy to take my money.
