History

Established in 1949.

Bensons’ started as a very small company with Howard Benson and his son Frank out of their backyard in south LA county. They eventually moved to a building in Long Beach in the 50’s. There they started to grow with the trend of Hawaiiana in the 50’s. Through the 60’s and 70’s the name of Bensons’ Import grew. In the mid 80’s Howard passed away and Frank took over and the President of the corporation. In 1992 they moved from Long Beach in LA county to Orange county and a 12 000 sf building in Huntington Beach on Container Lane. In 1999 the company was purchased by Matthew and Ruth Sprowls who are the current owners. In 2008 the Sprowls purchased a larger 24,000 sf building and moved across town near the Central Library of Huntington Beach at 7442 Vincent Circle which is their current home.
