Java Bakery Cafe

My boyfriend and I tried to get a coffee here before walking around downtown. The girls working were all in a circle talking amongst each other and after 5 minutes of not being acknowledged we left. After shopping we came back again to get a coffee and the same thing happened. There was at least 4 girls working and they were too busy talking to each other about weekends plans until finally we said that we would like a coffee. Myself, as a person in the service industry if you don’t have time to immediately assist the customer at least have the decency to acknowledge the customer and let them know you will be with them in a moment. That was not the case here though. Nobody was even doing anything work related… They just didn’t want to stop their conversation. Customer service is everything and it makes me want to avoid this place at all costs.
On another note, the gentleman that was working right across where the surfboards are was super friendly, cheerful, and helpful.

When we first moved here in 2014 we loved coming here for breakfast. Then we went there today. First we noticed the new tables which did not match the original décor. I also tried to redeem a free coffee for a Unilocal Check In Offer and they did not honor it. Our Sunrise Bagel came back and the eggs and cheese were hard as a rock. Overcooked maybe? Anyway my visit today was soo disappointing.

This place is getting worse and worse every time I go here. Don’t be fooled this is not a Java city like it used to be. New owners are using cheaper products. No longer self serve coffee. Bad aditude by the employees. If you’re in a rush to get your order forget it. new owner is now selling all kinds of junk not related to coffee. Look for something else around the area. Wish I could give half a star.

I work across the street from this little gem. I hate complaining it makes me feel bad to do so, so I was hesitant when I told them my drink was way too sweet a few days ago, but I didn’t want to throw away another cup this morning!!! The cashier was super sweet when I said I’m sorry but can you please… They made it perfect, just sweet enough! I’m so grateful for how she handled my compliant. Makes a difference in your day!

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years now. The main reason I do is because the staff is so friendly with smiles and always accommodating!
They do a lot of volume in the morning and still manage to keep it clean and stocked.
They have a good variety of bagels, muffins, scones (love the mix berry scone!) breakfast sandwiches, cookies and croissants (chocolate!!)
I usually get a coffee, chai or green tea latte… all good! I recommend trying the yogurt parfait. It has layers of granola and berries with vanilla or strawberry yogurt.
Lots of parking and they open at 5:30am!

Have come here twice now for a tea time with a friend. Like the fact that they have a comfy couch on a private setting outside. Ideal for us to char about life happenings. I always have teas but my friend likes to have a muffin or scone with her coffee. Time. spent with staff was very little to have any opinion about.

Just got my order, didn’t bother to check it, figured it’s simple & I always order the same thing, so I rushed out during my ½hr lunch. I got to the office & my order is completely wrong! Not enough time to go back & wait again. Called them, they apologized, offered credit for next time but that’s not the issue, now i’m stuck at work with no lunch all day! Not to mention it hasn’t been the first time!!!

My wife and I stopped there before heading into cloudmover spa. We just wanted to share a plain croissant. It tasted like it came out of a plastic container from a place like albertson’s. I’ve had a few bagels here in the past and they were pretty good but that croissant was pretty bad.

The morning staff has a bad attitude. They take forever to even acknowledge there is a person much less the growing line that is forming.
Average wait time is 10 – 15 minutes as they are extremely slow to do anything. Mind you this is mostly putting an item in a bag only (muffins, croissants, pastries, etc).
If you call in an order, don’t expect it to even be started until after you get there.
If you ask for something specific, expect not to get it. For example a twice toasted bagel turns into a bagel not even toasted. If you ask for veggie cream cheese expect to get lox.
They’re always out of the green tea mixture for the smoothies.
What happened to this place???

I am updating my review to 4 stars. I got a quick response from the owner after my initial review and I do like the food here.

I like how close this place is to my work. I come here for their breakfast bagels! They’re simple, but so good. I’ve had their chicken pesto sandwich for lunch and it was good, but nothing too special about it. I’ve also tried their salads and they were alright as well. I would say their breakfast bagels are the reason why I come back to this place. The service isn’t that great either. The girls working are never friendly when I come in and I’ve gone here quite often. 3 stars.

Customer service has fallen off a cliff
I was calling my order in ahead for pick. I was greeted with hello please hold on. I was then Left me on the phone, not on hold with enough time to drive over and give them my order. I walked into an empty café, I would have skipped the review if they were slammed. I walked up to counter and began giving my order and noticed that he menu for the Texas sandwich said BBQ sauce not horseradish. The woman whom I was about to entrust my lunch break to snidely said we don’t have horseradish mayo this isn’t arby’s. This is not going to keep many customers with this poor of service. Management fix please

This place has gone down hill. They offer chicken paninis and then use processed chicken pieces from a bag. With Boudin across the street, I will I longer be visiting this place. You can get better and higher quality food elsewhere. Furniture inside looks like it came out of a bachelor pad. Leather chairs with all the leather peeled off the arms. Poor selection of chips.

Absolutely delicious! I enjoyed a chocolate bear claw and something that tasted like a vanilla cheese cake brownie. Perfect little place to stop by for a sweet treat or something to eat!

I love the food here, it can get a little busy at times, but I recommend stopping by to try for yourself.

I went to check this place out based on rave reviews how good it is and it was not so. The place is full of old folks, the door entrance reeked of urine smell, a total turn off when you want to go enjoy food. The foods looks like mass produced or from Costco bakery.

I love this coffee shop. I’ve been going here for years and what I really like is the location is bright, with big windows all around. I also love the coffee, peppermint tea and danishes (sugar brioches, butter croissants, and poppyseed bagels with cream cheese). They have a nice patio outside as well when the weather is nice, you can get some sun or shade as well. Whenever u come in u can get ur coffee card stamped and the 10^th one is free, which I usually end up using for a medium specialty drink. :). Definitely a cool hang out for any time of day.

Bought a sandwich for lunch and couldn’t believe how much they charged and the sandwich was stripped down, dry, small, and horrible put together and they used stirafoam… They need to stop being so cheap. Seems like a trend a java. No air conditioning, dirty and over priced.

I come here every once in a while and really enjoy the atmosphere and food. I do many business meeting here due to the location and the convenience. However, today was the exception. I waited over 20 mins to get my food and no one was even preparing it until I asked where it was. I was waiting outside in the nice weather. So when it was done, instead of bringing it out to me it sat on the counter until I had to come back inside to get it at which time the food was not Luke warm. Ugh so disappointing.

First time here. I ordered the Cobb salad with turkey instead of bacon & an iced green tea. They don’t sweeten the green tea & it comes out perfect the way they make it, but I chose to add in a packet of Sugar In The Raw. Good stuff, will be back!
