History

Established in 1968.

Our optometry practice was started by Dr. Nick Graham O.D. in 1968 on Brookhurst St. in Huntington Beach. Dr Kenneth Hardy, O.D. joined the practice in January of 1992 and his wife, Dr. Joy Kataoka O.D. started seeing patients in 1993. Drs. Hardy and Kataoka took over in 1999. They practiced at the Brookhurst location for 19 years until May 2011 when the practice moved 1 mile west to its new location on Magnolia just south of Garfield.

I was greeted by Carlos and he helped with all the preliminary procedures before my exam with Dr. K, he was sweet and very patient with me especially with the eye pressure test. He made me feel comfortable and cared for. Then Dr. K came in and it really became awesome, she was just so sweet, informative and mostly down to earth. I felt like I was talking and meeting with a long time friend. They had great customer service and show they care, I love that it’s husband and wife operation. I did not work with Dr. Hardy, but I witnessed him interact with patients and he was just as down to earth and easy going. So happy to have found Dr. K and staff.

After reading reviews and having Dr. Hardy’s office so close to home, I made an appointment for my daughter and myself… I MUST say, Dr. Hardy and his staff are as good as it gets! Dr. Hardy was very straight forward with explaining the outcome from my exam. I wasn’t excited about getting glasses but they did have a huge variety of glasses to choose from, and the prices weren’t sky rocket or ridiculous.
I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Hardy!!!
btw– happy they do confirmation calls the day before your appointment :-)

Dr. Hardy and staff are always so kind and helpful! I’ve gone in a number of times with things in my eye (more than I’d like to admit) and dr. Hardy was always helpful and recommended ways to help keep my eyes safe and clean.

I have been going to this office for 20 years… I was only 9 when I started visiting them. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. Even when I didn’t have insurance I still visited this office. They take care of me and are very patient with my indecisiveness with what pair of glasses I want. They are willig to order different colors in a style I like or that I am unsure of. They help me decide when I can’t do it on my own. The staff and doctors are super friendly and welcoming. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this office. Their new place is even better than before. I highly recommend you visit.

I’ve been going to Dr. Hardy for about 10 years now, ever since age caught up to my eyes, requiring me to have glasses. It’s actually a family business. Dr. Hardy’s partner is Dr. Kataoka, his wife. The service here has always been great. Their support staff are helpful and friendly.
A couple of years ago, Dr. Hardy detected a corneal abrasion on one of my eyes and sent a note to my primary physician so I could get a consult with the opthamologist in my HMO. He helped me get that cleared up so I could get a proper pair of glasses which I did a couple months later. Thanks Dr. Hardy!
When you do get your prescription, they have a great selection of frames from which to choose. I got a frame from Marc Ecko and have been getting compliments left and right! I had to go back to get them adjusted so they’d sit right on my face, but they were more than happy to take the time to make them right and make me happy.
I can’t recommend Dr. Hardy and Dr. Kataoka more highly!

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Hardy for many years. He is fantastic, has great choices for glasses and sunglasses and good service. What I appreciate most is his honesty and integrity and he doesn’t try to sell you something. If you don’t need anything new he doesn’t push you. I highly recommend him.
