My son and I had a great experience with Ruth Harris, Liquid Adrenaline Divers. Ruth fully understands the principles of diving safety and knows how to instruct to make sure the skills fully prepared us to safely enjoy open water diving. It is also evident she loves what she does.

Ruth was amazing! I searched for an instructor to certify both me and my teenage son and I am very happy that we came across Ruth. She was very patient with our schedules and the entire process was really great. If you are looking to get Scuba certified, go the private instruction route and use Ruth! You won’t be disappointed.

Ruth is the best!!! She certified me and recently took me diving in Catalina. She is a very thorough teacher and she is so calm under the water and makes you feel immeasurably safe! Highly recommend.

I had been putting off getting certified for quite sometime. I did not want to go thru a class with a bunch of other people. The one on one that i Got from Ruth was amazing. Ruth is extremely patient and Knowledgeable! Every one of my dives was enjoyable even with Skills. I am now a Scuba and Drysuit certified. I look forward to more training and learning from Ruth.

I met Ruth after I got certified at another shop and did some dives with her. I wanted to do some advanced classes and tried to go through my former shop, but after paying them and waiting over a year, they could not get me in to finish it all. I went to Ruth to start over and I am glad I did. We did the classes one on one which allowed me to work on things i had difficulty with. Ruth is exceptionally patient and makes sure you get what you need from each dive. She has a love of diving which just permeates everything you do with her and it is totally contagious. Planning on dry suit class next. Can’t wait!

A buddy of mine was planning a trip to go SCUBA diving in the Cayman Islands and asked me to go. I always had a desire to SCUBA dive, but never really new where to begin. I did a little research online about PADI and NAUI certifications and decided to come on Unilocal to help me pick a good instructor.
I read many reviews on several PADI and NAUI instructors, many of which were associated with dive shops. I then came across Liquid Adrenaline Divers and read all of the fantastic reviews. I needed an instructor that was patient with my schedule, with me, and most importantly, just loved to dive. I didn’t want a paramilitary instructor.
I contacted Ruth and she set up a meeting at a local Starbucks. She explained a lot of things about diving and she made me feel good about wanting to learn to SCUBA dive. I chose her as my instructor because I knew just by how she talked about SCUBA diving that to her, it was all about having fun.
I have a busy schedule and Ruth was very understanding. She checked in with me to see how I was doing and encouraged me to continue my lessons so we could get into the ocean. She was extremely patient with me.
I finally got into the water and all I can say is, what a blast! Ruth is very thorough and knowledgeable. I don’t think there was a question that she did not know the answer to. That made me confident and comfortable that I had an instructor that was going to teach me how to dive correctly, and most importantly, safely.
I highly recommend anybody who is looking for a SCUBA instructor to contact Ruth. She will definitely provide everything you need to be a safe and confident diver. I was able to dive at Shaw’s Cove in Laguna Beach as well as Catalina Island. Both were amazing and I had a ton of fun. I’m hooked! Thanks Ruth! I can’t wait to take Ruth’s advanced SCUBA diving course.
Btw: Ruth knows ALL about the local underwater wildlife, so don’t be surprised if you get to see some incredible marine life while you’re diving.

In planning a dive trip to Catalina while vacationing, I was fortunate and found Ruth here on Unilocal.I am a relative new diver and was concerned yet excited to dive off Catalina and the kelp forrest. From the very beginning, Ruth was very timely and helpful in answering emails, TM’s and getting me the information I needed to not only make the dives but catch the ferry to the island. The day of the dive, she met me on the ferry going to the island and discussed my experience, the site and the type dives we would make. Once at the site, she had prearranged my air and weights so gearing up was a breeze. On the dives, she knew every nook and cranny to show me amongst just a few things like a shark egg, an abalone and introduced me to a dive legend. She was very comfortable under water and helped alleviate any fears I harbored. In all, I made 4 relaxing 1 hr dives. At the end of the day, we took the ferry back to Long Beach and parted ways. I cannot overemphasize how wonderful my dives were BECAUSE of Ruth. I highly recommend hiring her as a guide/​dive buddy if your in the area in need of another dive partner!

I was not real excited about dry suit diving after an earlier unpleasant experience. My dive buddy referred me to Ruth. We traveled to Catalina for a two dive day, with the objective of my complete comfort and confidence in the drysuit being restored. Patience, good instructions and ideal conditions created the perfect learning scenario. Each dive was great and I did three additional dry suit dives the next day with my dive buddy. They went great, too! I was underwater for more than an hour each time. The water was cold, but I was not.

I’m a college student interested in marine biology and needed to get SCUBA certified so I could attend a scientific diving class. I found Ruth
online and took her open water class.
She is an awesome instructor. Throughout the duration of the course, she was an extremely thorough, knowledgeable and patient teacher.
I never felt rushed and she was able to answer all my questions. She definitely has a passion for SCUBA diving and is excellent at what she does.
I would recommend her to anyone looking to get SCUBA certified.

My wife just finished her Dry Suit Training with Ruth. Best instructor EVER… period!

Ruth is simply an amazing instructor. Her knowledge of the underwater world is only trumped by her natural gifts as a teacher. I’ve known Ruth for years, and she just finished ceritifying my 19 year old son. Today was his first official dive as a newly certified diver. His buoyancy control at this early stage is great; testimony to the quality of instruction he received from Ruth. We also spent 87 minutes under… that’s a long time even for an experienced diver, and both his calmness and proficiency translated to a long bottom time. I’ve been diving for many years around all levels of divers, and the result of Ruth’s world-​class teaching is a son who is totally safe and prepared to make diving a new lifetime hobby.
I would highly recommend Ruth for any level of instruction, and as an underwater guide as well. She’s got eagle eyes, a deep knowledge of sea life, and nobody is more pleasant to be around. Ask about her amazing pumpkin pies too!

If you are looking for a certified, patient, knowledgeable, genuinely caring scuba/​snorkel instructor, LOOK NO FURTHER! Ruth you are AWESOME! Thanks to Ruth my kids are now comfortable in the water snorkeling and we are looking forward to the scuba lessons with you in the future. I am a Seattle based underwater photographer who needed a guide for some underwater photo shoots on Catalina. Ruth was great!
She is an amazing critter spotter, and helped me find outstanding subjects. She even found an almost extinct species: white abalone.

I was looking for an extremely reliable dive instructor after being thoroughly disappointed and frustrated with my last. I did some extensive searching for a NAUI instructor throughout the Orange County and LA area and found Ruth. She mentioned to me that she was an independent contractor that instructs and certifies numerous dive courses. After looking at her resume through the NAUI website, I was impressed by her qualifications and felt she was very qualified.
I’m the type of individual that likes to send emails because I work behind a computer all day… also because I like to have permanent record on things. Every single time that I sent an email to Ruth, she responded within 24 hours (most of the time in a few hours) and she was very thorough.
When I arrived in Catalina for my dive instruction I was expecting a one-​on-​one instruction. Instead, I got two instructors. LOL! Her husband is also a divemaster and it was great having him along. It became very obvious to me that they enjoyed diving for the sport and they really enjoyed teaching. They were extremely fun to be with and there was never a dull moment.
I went for my Advanced Scuba Certification, Nitrox, and Night Diving. It was an awesome adventure. I’m currently saving up some money right now and after I buy my equipment, I will definitely be taking more classes with them. I highly recommend taking courses with them. You’ll get that private instruction without the eye gouging price and outstanding customer service that will make you come back for more!
