Maria was at the sign in desk; she was polite cheery as she greeted us. We were happy to see her as she’s very nice and helpful. The last few times we came in it was someone different. Maybe the new front office staff needs more coaching. Although, we love the patient care that our family have received in the past 10 plus years from Doctor Grove and his staff. This new régime is utterly horrifying and absolutely inexperienced in patient relations.

I want to start by saying that I almost don’t want to leave a good review because I know they are already so overwhelmed with patients, but the reason for that is Dr. Grove is absolutely the best family physician I have ever known. He’s been our families general practitioner for 10 years and with that being said, I can’t Imogene it would be easy to find a doctor that is as honest and genuine in finding out what is wrong, getting the best treatment, and all-​around has your best interest at heart. He takes his time, makes the time, and is an all-​around good man as well as a very well educated doctor in so many areas of medicine… He has been there for our family through some scary stuff when our children had fallen ill, and waking the poor man, I’m sure with my middle of the night phone calls, the times they have happened had still always remained so kind. His right hand nurse Joe is also amazing. As well as Maria at the front desk. They have always made sure to take the time needed and due diligence in great patient care. I can’t say enough good things about them. Thank you Dr. Grove for all that you have done for our family. A+++++++ from the Weber family

I would give less than one star if I could. The change in ownership is the worst thing that could have happened. The staff is rude and extremely unhelpful. ALWAYS. not just once or one person. After being a long time patient, I am definitely not returning !

This place is a joke! Was turned away this morning because they no longer take walk ins. The young, dark haired, receptionist at the front desk was so rude. I was waiting to sign in as she was on the phone and the window was closed. There were zero pens out to sign in so I just waited and I didn’t even get any kind of acknowledgment from her that I was there. She finally opened the window and asked what I needed and then told me she didn’t have anything until 1pm but I couldn’t make it due to another appointment I have scheduled at the time. I left and called back seeing if I could schedule something for tomorrow but she stated that I’d have to call at 9am to be seen for a same day appointment. I told her if I called tomorrow by 9am like she said I would hope to be guaranteed an appointment then! This office clearly doesn’t care! Sad, because this used to be a great place to go for an emergency visit. As others have stated I feel like this place is going down and will be closed soon! Don’t even waste your time going here!

As others have said with the change in ownership they are turning every walk in away and the staff is very unhelpful. It’s sad to see as this use to be a great walk in location when you had a minor issue. Look elsewhere and save yourself the headache of dealing with this office.

I received a TB skin test at this facility on November 10, 2015 and paid in full at the time of service. This company continues sending me notices insisting payment despite my proof of payment at the time of service. I have spoken with several supervisors. I have provided a receipt along with proof from my bank. If this is happening to someone with proof of payment I feel so sorry for the person who has received more than just a TB skin test ($ 20) and has misplaced their proof of payment. This company seems to try to make people over pay so the company can increase their profits. I would recommend No one receive any service from this company.

After being a long-​time patient of this practice, it’s time for me (and my family) to move on. After recently being taken over by a large conglomeration, walk-​ins are no longer accepted. If you want a same-​day appointment, you need to call first thing in the morning and hope to make the list. And, if you call on Friday for a Monday appointment, you are out of luck. You will need to call first thing on Monday and hope to make the list.
The final straw for me was when I recently called to make sure they still took my insurance after some changes to my plan. After a 12+ minute phone call, I still had no info. And, no phone call back to me a week later after being told I would get a call back with the info. Where the long-​time, usual front desk gal was rude and uncaring on her best day, the new gal I spoke with is simply in over her head. Front desk issues have plagued this practice for years and, unfortunately, it appears nothing has changed.
This is truly unfortunate as the care by Dr. Grove and his medical staff was great. I am (was) a low-​maintenance patient with top-​tier insurance and always a co-​pay in hand. Simple health care should not be this difficult, and front-​office issues shouldn’t be the most unpleasant part of a visit to the doctor.

The doctors are amazing but it takes so long to get an appointment. So going for a walk in appointment is a lot easier than waiting. However they got rid of the walk ins and now require you to call at 9am to make a same day appointment, which as I was told is the same thing as a walk in. I don’t understand why it was changed and the front desk doesn’t do a great job at helping you. This place has gone downhill

This is a terrible practice. The office staff never answers the phone even when there are four workers sitting at the desk.
The level of care is sub par and I anticipate that they will be closing soon.

Since Brandon and Mike sold out this plsce has gone to the dogs. Showed up for urgent care and waited until they opened at 9. The lady that opened the door said they don’t take urgent csre patients on Wednesday, she also said there was a sign on the door but you needed a magnifier glass to read it. Called Seal Beach Medical and they got me right in. Take a guess where I’m going next time, and SB is a little less exoensive too.

When my family moved to HB several years ago I got on Unilocal to find a new doctor. Trusting the stars and glowing reports I found for Dr. G and his team at Marina Family. I’ve been a patient ever since. I always feel my concerns are taken into consideration and never feel rushed through an appointment. Yeah, its hard to get an apt sometimes and if you just walk in you’re gonna wait but that’s because its a popular, busy office. Plan ahead when you can to avoid disappointment.

This place is bad if you are a walk in. And if you want to make an appt don’t expect to get in until a month out. Not sure if it is transition pains to the new owner, but I definitely don’t recommend this office to anyone who doesn’t have a half day to burn waiting to see a doctor. They suck

I’ve been going to this office for over 5 years. Dr Grove is great, but everything else about this practice has gone down hill and is now terrible. They do not answer the phone. They do not return messages. They do not follow up with labs, prescriptions or follow up care. The front staff are not customer oriented, helpful or proactive. I will be leaving this medical group to find a new doctor.

This is out of the ordinary. Be very careful to where they send out the lab tests, I believe that they have a direct connection not for the quality price but for the kickbacks.
Their communications is «0» changed the management on July 1^st without communicating anything to patients.
The cherry on the top, I requested a prescription for a simple antibiotic for urinary tract via cvs system and they took 4 business days to respond by denying it as that wanted to have me go thru an office visit and than urine test and then mor money for the prescription. They suck and no customer service at all. I will report this to Cigna immediately.

I believe this may be my first negative review in left ever. I called to get an immunization and was told to come in at 9 am to the walk in side. Well, they have every person come in at 9 and then work on them until lunch.
A woman came in with her child for a prescription refill. She was told that she needs to be there at 1 for the afternoon appts along with all the other afternoon people. Outrageous waste of time.
We left but my daughter’s friend waited three hours.
We gave up out spot to the woman with the child. Also, the receptionist loudly asked her what the child needed to be seen for and also loudly asked what prescription he needed. I couldn’t believe it. This woman had to explain in front of a whole waiting room of people.

I had an appointment here last Friday I had planned my entire day around, but when I showed up all doors were locked and there was a paper sign stating they were closed until Monday. They never contacted me to tell me or reschedule. It worries me that my health was not a concern here.
I tried to call to reschedule that day but no one answered, I tried to call over the weekend but the woman who answered told me I had to call back on a weekday during business hours. I have tried calling several times today (Tuesday) but I’m sent to some pharmacy refill voicemail; I’m not looking for drugs I just need to be seen by a doctor for a physical. Now I have to find a new doctor and wait another 2 weeks for another appointment with a stranger. I really hope there is nothing seriously wrong with my health.

I think after reading the reviews here, the consensus seems to be: great patient care, poor/​rude staff/​receptionist.
i was looking for a provider to get an annual check up and get some blood work done just to see how my general health is. since this place had good reviews and is pretty close by, i stopped in to double check if they were in-​network with my insurance (blue shield PPO –which i already knew they were, but doesn’t hurt to get confirmation).
the woman at the front desk pulled up my benefits and printed it out. the rest of the conversation was convoluted. i was told that for an initial office visit, i would most likely have to pay out of pocket and that i had a high out of pocket (2250). she would switch between the terms deductible and out of pocket, which are two VERY different things. as someone who works in health administration, i tried my best to have her clarify this information, but she did a very poor job of communicating her thoughts. i actually know my benefits thoroughly and have looked it up using my office’s provider log-​in in addition to my member login, so there’s no way i’m going to have someone tell me i owe more than my copay when the website clearly states, «Copayment is not subject to the deductible; copayment does accrue to the copayment maximum.»
what i got from this exchange, was… I pay my copay, insurance pays their part, but whatever they don’t pay, i’m responsible for because the office charges $ 150 for an initial visit? what CPT code is that? she said my initial visit would cost me something like my copay + the difference that my insurance doesn’t cover, which will be about $ 70. there are two possible explanations for this:
1) the office charges a «new patient fee,» in which you get charged this *semi* hidden fee simply for being a new patient. this is uncommon and usually is the office’s way to get more money because who are we kidding, primary care is not a money maker specialty. USUALLY this fee is in place for patients who have been out of treatment for awhile and then return to treatment. it encourages patients to follow up and get seen routinely… but it’s crappy practice to charge a brand new patient.
2) the office WANTS to be compensated $ 150 for an initial evaluation, but insurance has a maximum allowable amount of $ 80. that is, the insurance will only pay out XX amount. let’s say for example…$ 80 MAX for said procedural code. however, it is ILLEGAL for the office to make you responsible for the difference if they are a preferred provider within your network because they are bound by a CONTRACTED RATE. that is, they said to your insurance company, yes, I agree to you paying me $ 80 for this particular service and i will consider that as payment in full (minus whatever portion the patient owes for their Copay, deductible, whatever).
that said, I have no idea which of those cases it is with this office, whether they have shady business practices or merely an incompetent receptionist/​front desk person. she ended up giving me the billing person’s name, but reading through these reviews it seems she probably won’t be of any help. the office i work at has nearly 5000 active patients and our initial evaluation is 225.00. Most insurances pay a fraction of that, and the patient only pays the copay. no new patient fees, no hidden costs. if only we did blood work, but we don’t! we refer out. needless to say, i would never recommend this office due to the potential headache it may cause our patients. which is really a shame because the providers sound awesome.

There’s no shortage in primary care/​urgent care providers in the area so go elsewhere! if you have questions about your policy, don’t bother trying to ask someone there. in fact, just message me and i’ll explain your benefits to you. too often i see patients who don’t know any better, just sucking it up and paying for ridiculous charges because they don’t want to deal with it and/​or they’re scared it’ll affect their credit. don’t be one of those!

Jessica is a pleasure. In fact, all of the staff we encountered were great. Walking in, there was zero wait. Staff was super friendly, welcoming and quickly ushered us into a room. Jessica came in and remembered my fiancée, laughing and joking with us. She and her staff took great care of my fiancée and as a result, I have nothing but praise for them. They really do take care of their patients and their commitment shows!

Today was my first day in there and I had a great experience. My whole visit was about 1.5 hrs. Which is to be expected at an urgent care during cold and flu season.
The doctor and his staff were very friendly and helpful. The doctor made me feel comfortable and not rushed. I am so pleased and will return in the future if need be.

Why does this place smell funky? It’s not an antiseptic smell or anything… it smells like someone didn’t take out the trash… I was only in there for a couple of minutes and seriously this place reeks of a trash can room odor…
Not only that… the carpet is very dirty… it had a lot of stains on it… I’m happy that they don’t accept new HMOs patients anymore… because I’m skeptical of this place now…
