Great shop and good people. I initially walked in because my last mechanic gipped me $ 700 and threatened to do a mechanic lean sale on me on top of doing a crap job. This is a pretty awesome crew, get to know them. If you have a bike and need repairs done right, I would go here. They have been nothing but helpful. You guys are the best!

Rick’s an old school guy with years of knowledge and experience. He does excellent work at a fair price and pretty much knows bikes inside and out. Good reliable bike shops seem hard to come by; I looked for a long time and stumbled across his shop several years ago when he was more than happy to take care of a punctured tire where other shops just wanted to sell me a new tire. I’ve been going to him ever since for routine work on my bike and some more custom work (improving electrical/​charging system). I hope he doesn’t retire any time soon :-).

1^st time was great the 2^nd not so great

Been waiting to write this review for a while, and just got on to Unilocal.I bought a used Katana in bad shape and brought it to Rick Chique at R Cal Racing. I’ve been nickeled and dimed before, and had people give an artificially low quote in order to win business and then had them change order me into a higher price, and wanted to avoid that. I was clear from the beginning that I wanted an idea of the total cost to get the bike in good working condition before authorizing any repairs. In order to give an accurate estimate, Rick said he’d need a few hours to do an eval and that he needed to charge me for it but that if I chose to let him do the repairs then he would take the eval charges off. Seemed fair, so I let him.
The eval came back with an estimate of about $ 1100 to fix. Seemed fair so I authorized him to do the work. I again made it clear that my understanding was that I would receive a working bike for that amount. Came back after a few days, he carefully explained how much work he did and that it would take an additional $ 200 to get it right. Just what I was afraid of, but his explanation for why it wasn’t caught in the eval seemed honest so I authorized it.
Got the bike back, started great, I was excited about my new weekend ride, after I write him a check and am on the way out of the parking lot he casually tells me that «eventually» the clutch is going to need to be repaired but doesn’t need to be right now, as getting in and out of neutral is sticky. It will cost about another $ 400 to repair. Strange this didn’t come up in the eval that I paid him to do before I let him start the project. A $ 400 clutch repair seems pretty fundamental. At this point I did not trust him anymore and was not going to let him do any more work on my bike.
In short, he quoted me $ 1100 for a working bike, waited until after I paid him $ 1300 to reveal that the actual amount for a working bike would be $ 1700 total. This is exactly what I was afraid of, and exactly what I was trying to avoid. Apparently I am a bad judge of character because he seemed so honest and understanding.
Last tidbit. My check was $ 5 off the total amount, and he had the nerve to email me to ask for another check, after presenting me with an overbudget, non-​working bike.
This place is every negative stereotype about mechanics, all under one roof.

Ric and his tech (Steve) are the greatest! They’ve worked on both my bikes and I can’t say enough great things about their top quality work. From tire mounting, tuning, engine work and more.
Ric keeps talking about retiring. I keep telling him how young he looks!

Took my Kawasaki Vulcan in for carb work. It was a real tough one, but the guys at R-​cal stayed with it until it was right. The bike works better than it ever did. All I can say is they did what they said and at the price they quoted. What more can you ask THUMBS UP R-​CAL I will recommend this place, not cheap but GOOD. Thanks.

Terrible experience. Not at all honest business. Promised to fix my bike by rebuilding my carbs for over $ 600 and after bike still doing the same thing. They were wrong and want me to pay for their bad diagnosis. They have zero interest in satisfying customers… DO NOT take your bike there for repairs… you will regret it. Rick’s technician scratched my tachometer on my Busa while getting a new headlight about two years ago. I take extreme care of the bike at all times and know that his shop was the cause of the damage I confronted Rick about it immediately and he denied it happened at his shop. I am a nut about keeping all of my bikes in excellent condition. I also have 2 Harley s and a Big Dog chopper

On a Saturday morning my battery went dead on my CBR600, I called the shop and Rick answered, he said he would be right down. 5 minutes later he showed up with a battery, AMAZING! It does not get any better!

These guys did it again for me! I had reviewed R-​Cal once before for an outstanding job they did tuning a bike of mine. I am back again to tell you that once again, R-​Cal exceeded my expectations.
I recently purchased a used SV650S for commuting. With a lot on night travelling, I wanted to upgrade the lights to HIDs. I purchased a kit that I found out soon enough I was way in over my head with. I did not have the tools, time, and frankly was not confident in my abilities to assemble it correctly on the SV. I took the kit and bike over to R-​Cal. This not just a simple plug and play kit, and required extensive labor and time to get it wired and working properly.
I spoke with Steve and Rick about getting this done. After explaining exactly what was required and how long it would take, I left my SV in their capable hands. I am very glad I did. Not only was the work done ahead of schedule for me, but the price for labor came in a little under budget, which was fantastic!
But the main factor I am so happy with this is the quality of work put in by Steven. It was done very professionally, functions beautiful to exactly what I asked of him, and performs exactly to expectations! I cannot, once again, thank them enough for doing such as fantastic job on one of my bikes again. They have definitely earned my business for future work.
R-​Cal Racing is a class act! I recommend them to anyone wanting quality work, at a fair price, done to ANY motorcycle! Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

When Honda would not put pipes on my bike they recommended r cal. I went in. We sat down and looked at pipes. He quoted me and was on my way. When I got payed I went back in. He told me it would be 500 bucks more than before. So I told him I’d put my pipes on. So I did and still 200 bucks over original estimate. Besides the price. The work was done real well I believe. Runs a lot Better and smoother.

I LOVE this place. Rick and Steve are very friendly, personable and honest. They know me by name already and I’ve only been in a few times. They really know their stuff and take pride in what they do. Both of them will give you the best fix at the best the cost every time. The communication here is phenomenal. They will call you to update you on how your bike is doing every day or every other day. I grew up with a mechanic for a dad so I can tell when some one likes what they do and takes pride in their work and these guys are like that in spades.

Okay, I’ve got kind of an old bike, and it’s not in the best shape. I brought it to R-​Cal for some basic important work, and they’ve been great. Very detail-​oriented, and very reasonable and up-​front as to cost. They’re very busy, so my bike isn’t getting worked on as fast as I like, but boo hoo. I’d be a lot more worried if they were just standing around all day.
Rick and Steven have been really cool, too, especially Steven. Quite honest about what needs to be done, and they really haven’t tried to up-​sell me on parts and accessories, which I appreciate. I’ve gotten good service, and a lot of honesty about what needs to be done to get the bike back on the road and safe. No corners cut, despite the fact that the work can be a pain, especially on an older and more beat-​up motorcycle.

Rode my bike from texas in may. Found the shop through Motorcycle Superstore as a preferred installer. Had the tires shipped to the shop. Good communication over the phone on pricing and time needed to do the work. I was treated extremly well and everyone was friendly and very professional. They do outstanding work there. Have been back to have my bike serviced and was again impressed with the quality of the work and people there. Made sure to take my girlfriends son so when he gets his bike next month he knows where to go to get his work done

Ordered a tire from motorcycle superstore and choose R Cal Racing as my preferred installer because of their advertised reasonable 30 $ installation fee. However the price increased to 45 $ upon arrival to the store. The owner of the place was extremely unfriendly and treated me like an idiot for no apparent reason. I suspect because I didn’t buy the tire from him. Anyway would not recommend this place to anybody.

Service: The service here is top notch. I don’t have another motorcycle shop to compare it to because I’ve always brought my bikes here, but I have heard some horrible things about many other shops around the area. The mechanics here, Rick and Steven know whats up with your bike most of the time. If not it doesn’t take long for them to find the problem. Whenever I leave my bike with Rcal, they always update me on whats going on and ask me for an ok before doing anything.
Cost: The cost of labor per hour is not that cheap, but Rick and Steven don’t mess around with their time. Bike parts are fairly priced. Rick has promotions every once in awhile to get your parts really cheap.
