It sucks for your car to suddenly die while driving along the 405 Freeway in traffic, going 65 mph. Sucks, sucks, sucks. And what’s worse is finding out how long you’ll have to rent a car once it’s safely towed to your regular mechanic whose worked on every single one of your cars for the last 15 years or so. I could NOT get a car rental for less than $ 47.21/day, even without insuring it and getting extras; even with renting a compact. Why? beats me. I tried everything under the sun. Then my acupuncturist mentioned that there was a bike rental joint down the street from him that looked like it sold and rented cars, too. It was this business. I wandered over and was able to rent a used 2002 Saturn for roughly $ 14.95/day. The service was great. Let me just say this: the price was right. Not a fancy car, but it got me where I needed to go and helped me keep my costs down when some serious damage had occurred to my own car(timing chain broke). I didn’t feel like I was taken advantage of like at the other more well-known car rental places and even though I was no longer in the pretty, brand new Toyota Corolla with only 700 miles on it like at the standard rental agency, I sure was happy to keep my costs down. Whew! This is a realistic place to rent from. They’re REASONABLE for a working person that’s not making 6-figures and living within budget. And really, how many of us in this econory are doing just that?!
