Marcus was a real jerk when I called to find out about surf lessons for my 2 sons. I asked if he had a second so I could ask a question, and he said «No, we are good» and hung up on me. I cant imagine why someone would run a business this way.

Had a great experience with Marcus! He was easy to book with and very accommodating. We had a lot of fun and got up on the board. I’d definitely use him again for future lessons.

Marcus was wonderful! We were both standing up on the first wave :) And he even spent extra time taking us out so that we could each ride in a big wave (for some pretty awesome pictures :))!! We will be back soon for more fun!

Eric was an awesome instructor! Our 12 & 15 year old kids were able to get up easily & loved it! Thanks for a great experience!

My girlfriend and I went for a lesson yesterday. After some confusion on the scheduling (mainly my fault) we got everything settled our appointment was re-​scheduled for the next time slot. Our instructor, Eric actually skipped lunch and gave us an extended 2-​hour session to make sure we had a good time. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and sure enough, by the end of it we got the hang of it and are ready to hit the waves again soon. I would highly recommend these lessons to anyone that’s completely new to surfing and looking to get a great introduction.
My one recommendation would be to set up a secure way of paying through the website instead of over e-​mail but other then that everything was top notch!

Marcus was very good with my daughter. He gave her a basic lesson that made her feel comfortable and confident.

Went with my buddy for a 1.5 hour lesson with Eric Gomez (they provided boards and wetsuits), we are beginners. He was super laid back, friendly, and knowledgable. We started with the basics on land, but wasted no time getting in the water. Eric was awesome and helped us catch some great waves within a few minutes! We had a great time and will recommend Surfriders to our other friends. Great communication with Marcus too in coordinating logistics.

Absolute professional. Good prices. Taught very well. I managed to go from having zero experience to 20 – 25 «rides» in the lesson. Would definitely recommend them.

Marcus was an amazing teacher! He gives his students the best personal instructions and really goes above and beyond to make sure you have FUN and learn how to surf!

I had a lesson with Ed today. Great guy, good as a teacher and really knows surfing. I wasn’t a first time surfer, but it’s been several years — so he went through the basics with me, and then quickly adjusted teaching to my skill level once we got started in the water. The lessons are 1.5 hours, but being the last student I got over 2 hours.
I highly recommend Surf Riders Academy.

Marcus and Eric took excellent care of all 4 of us. It was my family’s first time ! We have a 10 and 12 yo. We are super happy and would definitely book with them again.

booked a private lesson with Ed today, awesome experience. Ed taught me safety first, not only for myself but for everyone else in the water. After some onshore instruction, Ed had me in the water going for it! Within an hour I was getting up on the board and taking waves! Ed is very knowledgeable and patient, I highly recommend the Surfriders Academy if you want to learn to surf!

My husband booked 2 lessons for his visiting grandchildren who had never surfed before (ages 9 –girl & 12 — boy). HUGE success. first lessons were with Marcus — friendly, patient, skilled. And the kids loved him and did well!
The 12 year really wanted another lesson! He booked with Ed who was also AMAZING! another huge success. Patient, kind, related to the 12 year old — and he really took to surfing! Too bad they live on the East Coast — but next visit out here — this will be a definite repeat.
Can’t recommend highly enough — they are the best!

Took a lesson with Ed. He was super friendly and very knowledgeable. His number one concern was our safety followed by a fun time!

My sister and nephew took a lesson today with michelle. Marcus was there teaching a couple. Both Michelle and Marcus were very friendly!
This is what my nephew said: «it was awesome!» My sister said totally worth it. Recommend without reservation! She said michelle was very patient! 1 ½ hour was plenty of time to learn and practice. They had a blast!

Marcus was an amazing instructor! He was punctual, friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable about surfing. He taught my sister and me the basics then took us out to show us the ropes.
He was very personable and kind and we had a great time! I will be keeping in touch with him for more lessons!

My experience with SASS is that their instructors are passionate about their students having the greatest experience under the safest conditions.
With clear, enthusiastic, and hands on instruction, we really enjoyed actually learning to surf and love the sport.
They’re are simply the best.

I just used Surfriders to plan a team building surf lesson for a group at my company… and Marcus is incredible! He was very easy to communicate with in planning the lessons and even accommodated us when we had to make a last minute change to our originally scheduled time.
The surf lesson was fantastic, everyone was able to stand up and catch a couple of waves by the end of the lesson. Marcus was really a supportive instructor and we will be using him again in the future!

My friend came out from Michigan and wanted to learn to surf. I live in SoCal but never learned how to surf.
We got the private two hour lesson and it was amazing! Our instructor, Ed Morgan, is just a natural teacher (and surfer)! He had the best attitude and the passion he has for surfing is quite evident. He shows you the technique but also recognizes each person may have his/​her own way and encourages your natural inclinations. We were both able to get a few rides standing up.
It was so easy to set up; I can’t believe it’s taken so long for me to begin to learn to surf.
Highly recommended: honest, punctual, and passionate. What more can you ask? You will not disappointed.
