Specialties
I teach children ages 4 and up to college age. I teach all styles of music, Classical-Pop-Jazz. Lessons are private and students study on a weekly basis. All students learn classical repertoire and piano technique, sight-reading and theory at their level and are allowed to choose supplementary material of songs they enjoy. All my students do very well with NYSSMA, many outstanding scores! More advanced students interested in jazz, study the keyboard harmony method (mentioned in my bio.) This method not only strengthens classical performing and understanding of chord structures, but will also enable you to play jazz as soloist or with other musicians. I also prepare those students interested in going to the conservatory for their college entrance auditions. Our yearly recital is in June at Steinway of Long Island in Melville, NY. I am also a vocal coach. Some of my students study voice and piano. Many students have studied with me from the very beginning till they are off to college! I am also available to perform piano/and or vocals at your cocktail/dinner party.

I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Piano from Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Science in Education degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. In between degrees I studied with a well known jazz teacher in N.Y.C., the late Sanford Gold. His self-published keyboard harmony method enabled me to become a soloist of all styles, including improvisation. Also studied voice with David Collyer, famous coach of Paul Simon. It was because of my studies with Sanford that the National Endowment for the Arts gave me grants to study jazz 1979 – 1984 and what ensued was a steady career as solo pianist or pianist/vocalist for many fine establishments including the Garden City Hotel 1986 – 1989 and accompanying the famous Ray Heatherton as he sang during happy hours in the Polo Lounge; the Rihga Royal Hotel, NYC 1990 – 1991; The World Trade Centers H’Oderverie, top floor of building one, NYC 1991 – 1993; and up till recently the Crest Hollow Country Club, 1998 – 2015
