History

Established in 2014.

Dr. Porter opened Functional Chiropractic — Upper Cervical Clinic just over 2 years ago to provide the Tennessee Valley with full-​spine chiropractic care, paired with his specialty in Upper Cervical chiropractic. This focus on the top two bones in the neck, the atlas and axis, is the key to alleviating discomfort throughout the body, as well as allowing the body to maximize its potential in activity, mobility, and strength.

Dr. Porter’s interest in chiropractic was sparked when after years of suffering from chronic allergies, headaches, acid reflux, and a developing chronic fatigue, all of Porter’s symptoms went away after receiving chiropractic care. The benefits were so life-​changing that Porter decided to go back to school and complete his Bachelors of Science, as well as his Doctorate in Chiropractic.

Business Owner

​Dr. R. S. Porter is a Huntsville native, who moved to Seattle after high school. While living and working in the Seattle area, he personally experienced the benefits of Upper Cervical chiropractic care.

Dr. Porter began his chiropractic training at Parker University in Dallas. While at Parker, he was President of an Upper Cervical club, served as a Student Government Association leader, and spent much of his free time on campus as an anatomy lab assistant. Porter completed his clinical studies at one of the few schools that emphasize Upper Cervical in their curriculum and clinic, graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, S.C. While completing his 4 years of chiropractic school, Porter continuously attended Upper Cervical seminars and has trained in multiple Upper Cervical techniques.

Dr. Porter’s passion to combine Upper Cervical care and corrective exercise led him to open Functional Chiropractic in Huntsville, AL.
