Best Banh Mi in town hands down! They have a food truck too! I read some comments about the owners not being the right ‘asian’ to make these Vietnamese staples… they are in fact wrong, because the part owner is Vietnamese and I have seen him with the Food truck. Also the meats with the viet-style sandwiches are braised and cooked for hours, they may not come from Vietnamese cows, but they taste amazing and full of great flavor. And for those that don’t know. SPAM is the most widely consumed meat in Hawaii… I would know. because I am Hawaiian. They make amazing sandwiches with this under-appreciated Hawaiian comfort food. Anyways… amazing food, fresh ingredients, excellent flavor and the service is top notch.

Firstly, if you are wanting real Viet subs, don’t go here. This Viet subs restaurant is owned by a Chinese person, and no offense to them but the sandwiches they make are in no way authentic Viet subs(I would know because I am Vietnamese). They are using regular deli hams that you can get at Publix -.- as well as spam instead of cha lua like what the heck EW. These sandwiches could literally be assembled at home since everything can be bought at your local supermarket. REALVIETNAMESESUBSHAVEVIETNAMESEMEATSSUCHAS: CHLA, THTNGUI, XÍUMI(if you know what those are). They claim to have authentic Vietnamese coffee too and it’s not like the ones my mom makes or like the ones from my aunt’s coffee shop in Vietnam. It tastes like regular milky coffee from McDonald’s. Now, I know people are going to see this review and think, «So what if it isn’t authentic; it’s still tastes good.» Well, for anyone wanting to try real Viet subs, these lack authenticity MAJORLY. And people who are thinking these are authentic are really degrading what Viet subs are supposed to be. Yeah, that’s it. You do you, boo. But if you’ve ever had a real sub than you’ll taste the difference easily: DD

First timer and had their spicy beef banh mi. Opened the wrapper and was immediately disappointed that it was on a soft hoagie roll rather than the traditional fresh and flaky roll. Lost me right there. One bite and my concerns were validated. The sauce drenched the roll and made it mushy. The beef itself and the toppings were traditional and delicious, but the sauce was more of a heavy gravy. I love gravy, but not on a banh mi, which should be light. Viet Sandwich offers a better banh mi at a better price. I do want Pearl to do well and I want to become a regular there… Hopefully they will improve their bread selection and sauce and give Viet Sandwich some friendly competition. Until then, Viet Sandwich is simply far better.

Unassuming sandwich shop on Jeff Rd that looks like it should produce gas station quality food. But what really comes out is classic Vietnamese banh mi in several very tasty variants. The sandwiches are on a classic French baguette with freshly pickled carrots, cilantro, jalapeños and sriracha for a touch of heat. Pork, chicken, hog head(souse if you’re REALLY southern) with lemongrass or BBQ. I haven’t tried any of the Hawaiian sandwiches yet but I love the fact that spam is an option. If you know any Hawaiians you’ll know why. As an accompaniment, they make shrimp and pork spring rolls, too. Plus there’s boba(bubble) tea and fruit teas as well. I love the mango already. The peach lynched fruit boba is a nice combo as well. As long as everything continues, I think Pearl has a long future ahead. I can’t wait to see if the owners expand.

My husband & I went to this awesome lil hole in the wall sandwich shop. It has been open for 6 months & next to Bangs Salon. The place inside is so very clean & the atmosphere is very inviting. The folks who work there are very sweet & professional. I ordered the #1 which is a ham & pork sandwich w/a honeydew boba tea for a refreshing drink. My husband ordered the #6 which is a pork sandwich & he also got a mango boba tea. Keep in mind that these sandwiches are different from any other sandwiches out there. It’s Vietnamese style and it’s very good! The veggies are very refreshing & the sandwiches are very, very tasty. My hubby loves it & he is also a tough critic to please such as myself. I strongly recommend this awesome gem of a place. This place also has a kid’s menu if y’all want to get the kiddos somethin’ yummy. Four thumbs up for sure!(2 from me & the other 2 from my hubby)

This is a hidden gem in the Harvest/Monrovia area. Staff is super friendly and very helpful — for that reason, alone, I would come back here. But, in addition to that: Sandwiches were tasty. The bubble tea was delicious. The prices couldn’t be beat. Definitely worth the effort to stop in.

This is not your average sandwich stop! For a full two days after my family tried this place for the first time, we kept remarking how that was probably the best sandwiches we’ve eaten in a very long while, if not ever. The flavor profiles you get with their ingredients make this a more unique place to eat, yet very tasty. I adored the lemongrass chicken(#5), and my husband raved over their special combo(#1). The staff is extremely friendly as well. We can’t wait to until we go back and try more sandwiches!

Pearl is my favorite sandwich place EVER! These sandwiches are not your regular sub. I always get the Vietnamese Vegetarian(#10), and it is amazing; I could eat one every day. Pearl uses fresh ingredients, pickle their own carrots, and serve the sandwiches on toasty french bread. Every one I know who has tried Pearl is hooked. The people are wonderful and so is the value.

Excellent sandwiches, great prices, and friendly service. I recommend the lemongrass grilled chicken sandwich.
