Regency Retirement Village of Huntsville

My parent has lived on the memory care floor at this facility for several years. There have been a number of ongoing issues related to inadequate care. On a couple of occasions, a home health agency has been called in to treat conditions resulting from improper care. Most recently, they lost her dentures. It is unclear whether they threw them away or put them in the mouth of another resident. Weeks went by and no one ever called anyone’s attention to the problem and never would have. I discovered that her teeth were missing when I visited. The is just the most recent on a long list of issues. Staff is constantly shuffled around and you never know who is caring for your loved ones. There are some employees who care about their job, but they are rare. When I was discussing a problem with one staff member, her response to me was «oh well». When I discussed the issue of my mother’s teeth with the director, he was laughing all the way through the phone call, as though this was a comedy skit about an old lady who lost her teeth. In reality, without her teeth, she would have experienced bone loss with her remaining gums and would have not been able to eat adequately for weeks.
