Venice Pizza

I don’t often wright reviews on Unilocal.I’ve been burned too many times trusting reviews. If you’re looking for a nice crisp thin crust, good chew & a good selection of toppings, this is the spot. Best pizza in Huntsville/​Madison.

So I’m extremely picky about pizza. I rarely like many and the last one that I truly enjoyed was Terry’s pizza on North Parkway (if you’re old enough to remember Terry’s, you know what I mean) That is, until I found Venice Pizza. This pizza is no doubt the best pizza in Huntsville! They are fast, polite, reasonably priced and again, the best pizza in Huntsville. I’ve tried them all… Nothing compares to Venice Pizza. If you haven’t tried it because you think they’re all the Siam… You’re wrong! Venice Pizza is amazing! Try it, you’ll be glad you did!

Wow, let me start off by saying, if you have not been to this place. Make it your next meal. I called in my order for pick up, ordered a medium calzone with ricotta, meatballs, and fresh garlic. Total was $ 10.53 including taxes.
This calzone is huge. Probably should have gotten the small, but it was so wonderful, I had to force myself to stop eating half way through. The crust is thin and crunchy, with the inside piped full of hot fresh ingredients. The ricotta was so creamy and added an extra level of creaminess and cheesiness to this masterpiece. The meatballs had a very great taste to them, they do taste homemade. The fresh garlic added just a bite of garlicky flavor that wasn’t overpowering but just right for me. All of these stuffed with mozzarella cheese inside this pocket of goodness. I haven’t been this excited about pizza in such a long time. It truly was great!
The place itself is in an older building, but they have a good health rating. You get the dive feel of this place, which is what it really is. The cashier was extremely nice. They offer a wide variety of menu, and you can even purchase pizza by the slice!
If you haven’t tried this hidden treasure, definitely check it out. I can’t wait to take my husband, and to try a pizza!

I got the Chicken Parm. With ziti. I was expecting baked ziti, but it was just ziti noodles and sauce. Chicken was good, but not much of it. Over all good. However, I was up all night with acid reflux. Which I usually never get.

Took one bite of the pizza and through their slices back in the box. The crust was terrible. The sauce was too sweet and it was horribly greasy.
Not sure what the hype is about this place

I really don’t care much for thick crust pizza, but Venice’s pizza is truly exceptional! Great toppings (and lots of them) are fabulous. When cold, it’s also beyond words. Go there!

This is an ok pizza place. Nothing special.
Had a carry out order on a Wednesday.
Very quick order.

Should have listened to Sebastian’s review below. I walked in and was feeling this could be a gem — had very basic seating, basic cashier and Blodgett ovens. Very much like one would see in a «hole-​in-​the-​wall NJ pizzeria. My first clue that this place would not be the pizza holy grail in Huntsville was when I called in the order over the phone and asked if they had fresh mozzarella to which the girl answered «well it comes in a bag so I guess its fresh», (I was hoping they had chunky mozzarella that becomes like little pools of heaven when baked) — ok so I am coming off as a d-​bag and that is not my intent.
Nevertheless I roll up on the joint and like I said it had all the hallmarks that it could be an amazing pizza experience. I brought the pizza back to my hotel without opening the box and my heart sank when I did open the lid — it was very pale and more doughy that I had expected. Sure enough it tasted just like it looked. It was just ok. It was doughy and sort of mushy — not crispy. The toppings tasted like they were out of a can (and looking at the mushrooms they absolutely did come out of a can) I ate about 3 slices and put the rest in the trash…
My quest in Hunstville for Italian «manna from heaven» continues…

Very good pizza and subs for a very reasonable price. I wish I lived closer but since I work close by I can pick a pie up on my way home.

GREAT PLACE FOR LATE NIGHT CRAVINGS
Ever go somewhere and have a craving and no other food will do? So I was craving for gyros at 900pm on a Sunday night… who the heck is gonna be open? Venice pizza that’s who. They have beef gyros but that’s close enough. The gyros come with fries. The fries were great… golden and crispy sprinkled with salt and pepper. The gyro was good but the sauce was not as good as was hoping for and it needed more meat.
Their pizza looked good and you can order by the slice. I didn’t get it because $ 6 for slice of pizza seemed too high but I guess that’s ok because I hear the slices are large. I will stop by next time and try the pizza.
The service was great!

The small pizza is big enough for two people. Pepperoni and mushroom is delicious and they are pretty generous with the cheese.

Excellent pizza at a great price. The ingredients taste fresh. We’ve tried several veggie pies that were all flavorful. We’ve only done take out. The house salad is basic but fresh and a superb Italian dressing makes it a delicious side.

I normally come for lunch and get the pizza by the slice. IMO you can’t get a better slice for a cheaper price in Huntsville.
I’ve also had the calzone which was also very good.

The pizza is good. Cheese sticks are fair. The wings are pretty good too.
I give them 3 because I’ve ordered from them twice and both times I can’t get a simple packet of crushed red pepper flakes. Sucks since I like them and I let them know that I didn’t get any on the first order. Need to care a bit more.

Holy moly. This place has some the the best pizza I’ve ever tried. I love pizza. I would eat it every day of the week if I wanted to end up on ‘My 600 Pound Life.’ I was recently in town with my boyfriend on business. He had lunch meeting & I decided to order a pizza & take it back to the hotel room. I skimmed the menu & landed on a small ‘meat deluxe pizza’ that includes pepperoni, ham, sausage & bacon for $ 10.50.
I called in the order & was told it would be about 15 minutes. I arrived to find it located in an older strip mall. It didn’t look too big on the inside of the restaurant. You can dine inside, but I took mine to go. The cashier was quick & friendly & I was on my way with my pizza. I could tell the pizza was loaded with toppings even before I opened the box because it was heavy.
As I pressed the elevator call button I could tell that my mouth was salivating. I fumbled with the keycard & opened the hotel room door. Butterflies in my stomach. I laid the pizza on the bed & opened it up. Oh. My. God. Pizza heaven. The pizza was loaded with toppings, cheese was glistening in the light. The pizza was cut into 6 pieces. I was able to down 4 before I told myself to stop.
Seriously. The pizza was amazing. It had the right about of crust, the right amount of toppings & cheese. It was crisp on the bottom but not hard. The meats all tastes fresh & were flavorful. Just look at that side view of the pizza. It’s literally ¾ an inch of toppings. I even ate the two pieces cold later that night & it was still yummy. I’m sad I live two hours away from this place. Next time we’re in town I’m going to try this place again.

Excellent! We ordered a 21 inch pepperoni and a medium? Greek. The Greek was fabulous grape leaves and extra olives, Roma tomatoes. The 21 inch pizza is EXTRA large my friends!

First off the only reason that I’m giving this restaurant at four star review is because the pizza is just that good!!!
However, I was staying at a hotel nearby, and it took nearly 2 hours for it to be delivered. When he finally showed, the first thing out of his mouth was that there was an accident nearby and that’s why it had taken so long. He then asked me «if I still wanted it»? I asked him if it was cold?
It was slightly cold… But no discount was offered for my inconvenience or for the substandard product that I paid full price for… Including tip.
I completely understand this. Things happen. However, they had my cell phone number… And could’ve called and let me know at any moment. This would’ve been sufficient service for me.
Something to remember about quality customer service and your reputation… Customers just want to be informed. We are actually pretty understanding when you take the time to let us know.

Okay where to start, first-​time here, the reviews are half and half, so I agree, the pizza looks beautiful, toppings are massive, cheese is loaded, it’s a very heavy pie, I bravely ordered a medium, could only down 4 slices and barely. But! not sure if the pork or beef topping had a slight gamey taste, and that is something hard to overlook on my book, never had this problem in a pizza place, it was not over wellming, but just a hint to push me back, lots of Italian spices on pizza. It is ok pizza, but not enough to bring me back

Disappointing. Based on the Unilocal reviews and the Venice Pizza FB page, we had high expectations for this place. We ordered our usual Italian meals — me, a Veal Parmigiana dinner, her, a Chicken Parmigiana dinner. Basically, the sauce was flavorless, did not taste of tomato at all. Diner quality, IMO.
My Veal was heavy on the breading. Meals came out 30 seconds after the salad did. No butter provided for our bread. When our waitress brought back the butter, it had a funky taste to it, rancid. Needless to say, we didn’t put anymore butter on our bread.
This place would be out of business if they were in the Northeast. I’m sorry, but it was that substandard. Also, take a look at the pic of my Veal Parmigiana — served in a takeout container. C’mon, that’s sad.

Decent tasting pizza here. We wanted something different from our usual C_​stc_​Pizza and decided to find a pizza place we could dine-​in at. So we came here based on the Unilocal reviews. Glad we did!
A self-​explanatory menu was on the wall at waist/​eye level upon walking in, or one could opt for a paper copy on the counter. Whether dining in or taking out, we all place our orders first at the register with the friendly cashier, unless one called it in.
Diners have a choice of booths or tables to sit at at the right side of the entrance. We opted for a cozy comfy booth. Although the décor could use some MAJOR updating, we thought the pizza was delicious.
For our first dine-​in experience we ordered a large 14″ House Special Pizza for the two of us to share. This Specialty Pizza was delivered oozing hot to our table within about 15 minutes. It came w impressively thick slices of sausages, pepperoni, ground beef, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers on top of a perfectly baked crust that was crunchy on the outside and yummy on the inside. It was hot, delicious, and more than enough for two hungraaay adults. 8) Yes, you can bet there were leftovers to take home.
Toward the end of our night and to add to our pleasant experience, we got to meet a fellow Unilocaler who also stopped in. 8D How cool and rare is that?! While majority of my Unilocal buds are in CA and throughout the nation and w just a handful here in the neighborhood, I’d expect run ins w many in California, but never expected it here in the south. Nevertheless, it was nice putting a face w a local Unilocaler and getting to know one another more and talking in person. No longer a stranger, Mr. Jeremy! ;P We seriously need to get some UYEs scheduled out here! Who needs a CM here in the ville anyways?! 8D Well, it still would be nice w all the cool & exciting shindigs and free schwag and such Unilocal puts on at the big metro cities. But at the rate Birmingham is going, it’ll probably be years before HSV gets a CM. 8([sigh]
Anywhooo…
We expect to come back here soon. Probably will try the Calzones next time as we hear they’re good.
To sum things up: 1.5-stars for the décor… It’s more like a hole in the wall kind of place. And they get a solid 4-​stars for their pizza! 8D

You can’t fault them for trying. The place is really basic inside you order at the counter pay and sit down they’ll run your food out to you.
I had the meatball sub and the bread was huge the meatballs although edible were golf ball sized and relatively flavorless. The bread was decent and the sauce was sort of out of a jar-​ish.
I’m jaded being an Italian American from NJ and making my own masterpiece meatballs an tomato sauce at home. Not to say, if it was exceptional I would definitely tell you so. The place was boiler plate pizzeria where all the ingredients come from one supplier to make profit not great food.
Go here for cheap sustenance not for a memorable meal.
