Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine

Amazing food! It is really hard to find good authentic Thai food even with so many other Thai placed in the metroplex! And you ask for spicy, it actually is spicy!

Great staff, flavorful food, cozy atmosphere. My friend’s family owns this spot and he’s always asked me to come try their dishes one day, so I decided to do just that this past weekend. I ordered the «Mus-​sa-​man Curry» which was
– I usually order this at most Thai places, and I can honestly say that Sweet Basil really puts this dish on a pedestal. It was savory, had the right amount of spiciness, it wasn’t overkill with coconut milk and the chicken didn’t taste too dry/​chewy. I can’t wait to come back and try other items! You will def. not be disappointed here.

I have to say that I absolutely love Thai food and am always looking for a good place. I have been here many times now, and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. I’ve been for both lunch and dinner. The Panang, Spring rolls, Pad Thai, Spicy noodle, and everything else is wonderful.

My boyfriend and I have been twice so far and we’ll definitely be back. I love the egg rolls and spring rolls. The tom yum soup is very flavorful. I recommend the pad Thai or the mixed vegetable with beef.

Ordered Tom Kai with chicken and green curry. Was awful! Chicken over cooked, no flavor… Not impressed! Will definitely not eat at this place again.

This is good. I had the Tom Yum noodle soup. Not much flavor on mild so you need to order it with a little spice. Medium was a bit warm but mild to medium would have been perfect. Same for the chicken pad Thai but medium is perfect; Not too spicy. My favorite thing was the spring rolls! So fresh and yummy with a touch of curry in the peanut sauce! We ate so much and left with lots of food!

While in DFW for business I was steered to Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine as a great lunch option near our offices. I was happy to hear about a non chain restaurant option in a metroplex lousy with chain options, so I rushed over for a bite.
I ordered the pad thai and sweet basil soup to start. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. I’m usually very particular about my pad thai and was pleasantly surprised with their take on it. Important to note, when they say spicy, theyaren’t messing around. Also, portions were large and prices were small. All around great meal.
Service was very friendly and prompt. I was in and out of lunch in less than an hour and happy to have found a great thai place for my future travels through those parts.

Very good! I ordered the pad Thai, drunken noodles. Appetizers sampler, sticky rice, and coconut ice cream… I was a little disappointed on the corn cakes that came in the sampler but otherwise it was all delicious! The coconut ice cream and sticky rice were both to die for. The pad Thai was excellent (wished there was more) I plan on trying the curry next time.

Had the drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mow) and they were delicious. A bit spicier than I anticipated, since they were marked «Mild.» Service was great, we will be going back!

I loved my lunch experience here, there was no wait and there was up front parking. I got the chicken fried rice like I always do and this place did not disappoint, the portion size was huge was well. I also got the salad and I didn’t like the «dressing» it was too much for me, but that’s okay I’m not a salad person anyways. The spring rolls and egg rolls were good. The service was nice. I had to have the mango sticky rice and it was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place as well as return here!

Best Thai food in the metroplex! My family travels from Dallas to eat here. Our favorites are pad see ew, panang curries, pad thai, papaya salad, and tom yum soup. Don’t forget sweet rice and mango for dessert. We have tried other dishes, and they are all tasty. Love it here.

There are a lot of «so called» Thai Restaurants in the DFW Metroplex. In my expert opinion only two actually up to being Terrific. One is in Plano and the other is in Hurst. You need to try the Lamb Curry, Pad Thai with Beef, Dinner Salad with Peanut Dressing and the Spring Rolls. NEVER varies from being Fresh, Consistent Tasteful and fantastic service. I drive 46 miles round trip almost every Sat. just to enjoy great Thai Cuisine.

Best fresh Thai spring rolls and lettuce wraps I’ve had at any Thai restaurant thus far. The ingredients are fresh, and the flavors go together beautifully. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. The servers are gracious, attentive, and very helpful. I wish I lived closer so I could frequent eating here. Can’t wait to visit again!

I love the Tom yum noodle soup. It’s a huge portion and I’m always so happy after I finish it. Warm and yummy in my tummy…

I often dine here with friends and no one is ever disappointed with their meals. The ice tea here is awesome. One of my friends had to ask how they make their ice tea bc she was drinking it by the gallon. :)
Great service. I always finish up the meal with the sticky rice + Mango. I’m a Mango fanatic and I’m always happy with every dessert I’ve had here.

Friendly and fast. And Spicy. And worth it.
Had the Pad Graphow with chicken and side of brown rice. Big chunks of chicken and fresh peppers and beans on a bed of sauce. Tasty and spicy.
Salad came with it was oh so good. LOVE the peanut sauce.

My little brother, his best friend and my husband really like this place. First few times it took me awhile to figure out what I could or couldn’t eat here though which is the case with most Thai places. They have a lot of really good food and plenty of mild to spicy foods for every taste palettes … which trust me is really awesome for the group of people that I would come here with.
For sure it is worth a try for those who enjoy this type of food, and if your a newbie don’t be afraid to ask questions or go with people that know what they are ordering. The staff has always been really friendly and helpful. And it is a cozy little place to get some yummy Thai food!

Sweet Basil is one of my go-​to Thai restaurants because 1– it’s close to me, 2 — it’s delicious, and 3 — it’s reasonably priced.
The fragrant smell of perfumed jasmine rice and bold curry invite you in this beautifully and authentically decorated hiding spot. The walls are a burnt earthy orange, accented with gold embroidered dark green and purple tablecloths. A delicate flower in a petite vase and elaborately folded cloth napkins add an elegant touch. In the evening, the room glows in candlelight, perfect for a low key date night.
I enjoy their Cashew Chicken, Red Curry, and Pad Thai. They can sometimes overcook they’re eggs, making them rubbery. My favorite soup is Tom Kha Gai, however, the few times I ordered it here, they served the mushroom quarters in it completely raw. It ruined the soup. Pad Thai is the ultimate comfort dish and their rice is alway on point.
The service isn’t always great. If this was my restaurant, I would make an effort to connect with customers on a personal level to gain patronage. Since it’s a more intimate spot, the lack of a presence has a real disconnect.
Overall I like Sweet Basil a lot, and recommend checking it out.

I came in here on a Friday night — I’d just finished up shopping with a friend and after seeing the rave reviews we decided to give this place a shot.
The place itself is very cute — it’s located in a strip center just across the street from the North East Mall. It’s a quiet little place, very clean inside.
I started with an order of the spring rolls, which were HUGE — I’m so used to other restaurants were one order is typically sized for one person, and so when the menu listed only two rolls per order, my friend and I decided to get an order each. Needless to say, I couldn’t finish my order completely. The rolls were great, not too much vermicelli, which I prefer. The peanut sauce they were served with was uniquely spicy — not in a «oh gosh I need water STAT» kind of way, but just enough to make it flavorful. It was good.
I got the Pad Graphow (House Basil) with chicken, and it was pretty good. Not too spicy, flavorful, overall pretty good. It’s a great option for people looking for a lean menu option — fresh veggies, and the sauce itself was not thick or «sugary» at all (not that I was expecting that either).
The major setback for this place was the service. Despite it being a Friday night, the place was pretty empty, maybe 5 tables were seated total. However, it took us quite awhile to order in the first place, and then it took FOREVER to pay and leave. We literally sat and twiddled our thumbs for 40 minutes before our waitress finally came over and asked if we were ready for the tab. We tried flagging her down multiple times in vain, passive aggressively starting piling our plates on top of each other, all to no avail. It’s probably our fault for not getting up after minute 15 and asking for the check, but should we even need to do that?
Another note: our waitress didn’t give us a «star preference» when we ordered, so I’m not sure if you had to just specify when you ordered or not. So if you’re one of those really brave people who prefer their food «Thai spicy», be sure to let them know!

My family and decided to try Sweet Basil after reading some great reviews here.
I had their Thai tea, seafood fried rice, and the butterfly shrimp appetizer. My boyfriend and mother got two different kinds of curries and my dad ordered the red snapper.
Every dish was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful. My dads fish came out whole, was huge, and surprisingly the smallest one they had. He said it was some of the best fish he’s had, definitely the best red snapper.
I would give 5 stars but our server was kind of awkward and short with us. I know there was a little bit of a language/​culture barrier probably, but I could tell she was getting frustrated with us when we were trying to box things up to go.
