It says «Respondent intentionally or knowingly misrepresented the services to be provided». I believe most people complain here has the same problems.

They will try to up-​sell you EVERY time. First they gave me a quote for replacing some duct work. $ 300 per duct. I had my contractor do it… It’s $ 30 dollars for a duct and it took less then an hour. I still had them on contract for my yearly maintenance. When they came out int he winter they told me my circuit board needed replacing. I asked him to show me. He pointed to some wires and told me what the voltage difference should be. However miraculously when I tested it myself with his own volt meter everything was working fine and as it should be. I repeat DO NOT TRUST!

This company is a JOKE. Like others, I had an AHS warranty issue. Not only did they come out and give false information, but they put their «recommendations» on my rceeipt. When I asked to have them removed, they said they couldn’t. It took them 6 days to return phone calls and requests for an amended invoice. This is important because I AM SELLING MY HOME AND THE BUYER WILL SEE THIS INVOICE.
My issues:
1.) I want my receipt to reflect what I PAID for. I didn’t pay for or ask for recommendations, remove them.
2.) If you make a recommendation and put a code violation on it, you better be RIGHT. I have had 2 home inspectors and a city inspector say Service Tex put an inaccurate statement on my receipt. Hmmm, I will go with 3 professionals versus who showed up at my home that day. I am leaving that for another story.
3.) If you can run a business, you SHOULD be able to call a customer back to resolve. I asked for the owner to call me, he didn’t have the balls for that. Too bad for him, no really. Business can’t be great for these people with this level of customer service. It also should NOT take you 6 days to figure out and tell me (after 4 e-​mails and phone calls), that you can’t do something as simple as create another invoice.
4.) Service Tex flat out lied. They told me AHS REQUIRES them to put «recommendations» on their invoices. I called AHS, and spoke with them for a good twenty minutes filing a complaint.
5.) Finally, shame on me for not reading these reviews before having these people come out. They are on my refused vendor list with AHS, I encourage all of you AHS folks here to do the same. Word of mouth KILLS bad business. Let this be a lesson Service Tex.

They don’t know what they are doing. Wish that wasn’t the case as the techs are pretty nice guys but I’ve had them out to my house five times and they can’t fix my problem. Just wastes more time, money and patience.

This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with! Terry and Andrew are horrible. Brian was my technician and he is nice and all but they are incompetent when it comes to fixing anything A/​C related. We have been without A/​C now for 2 weeks!!! Mind you this is the hottest 2 weeks in Austin this year! We placed service call on July 21^st and they finally came on July 23^rd to tell me that we had a leak, but couldn’t find it. So they put freon on in the unit and band aided it for a couple of days until the A/​C broke again 4 days later! We even signed up for the maintenance policy so we could have priority service over everyone else since this happens so frequently. Apparently that is worthless. Brian came back out to fix the A/​C and decided there were too many leaks so we had to replace the compressor unit. 5 days later this showed up. Not even 1 day in and it is broke again!!! It was 106 yesterday and 104 today! I have 2 babies in the house. I have to scramble once again to find somewhere to stay until this is fixed!!! I put a request through AHS knowing ServiceTex would close the work order without following up and needing a new one to work on the unit again and called ServiceTex this morning only for them to tell me that they can’t get to me until 4pm, the last work order of the day! Are you kidding me! Not only did Andrew and Terry tell me there was nothing they could do, when I asked to speak to someone higher than Andrew he tells me he basically runs the company. Laughable!!! Because no wonder your service sucks and if you run the company that says alot about your employees!!! He also proceeded to tell me that he would not send anyone out to my house because I was getting so angry and using cuss words. If you would fix the PROBLEM I wouldn’t be so angry!!!
Worst customer service in Austin. All they do is band-​aid it, NOT fix it! I will never recommend them for anything. And will make sure that all my friends on FB and any social outlet not use them.

We used Service Tex through our home warranty service and they were absolutely horrible. We had a crack in the intake duct foam board and the technician told us duct work was not covered, which it turns out it was. Since we paid the service fee the warranty company got Service Tex to come back out under a duct work service order, the tech told the company that our duct work was working fine and the air is flowing correctly, even though there was an obvious collapse in the foam board on the intake duct that was sucking attic dust and dirt in, clogging the system, and causing all the vents to blow dirty dusty air. He out right lied to the warranty company to avoid doing the work. Afterward I called the warranty company and got them to confirm that duct leaks and cracks are covered in foam and flex ducts from the A/​C unit to the point of the grate or vent. Please be warned, this company has no issues with scamming their customers. I am sure when they get a job through a home warranty request its not as easy and lucrative as an out of pocket job but purposely lying to the company to get the job denied is unacceptable. The tech was Ryan so beware!

THEY WILL ONLY FIX ONE PART AT A TIME!!! I contacted AHS because my AC went out on a 100 degree summer day. They filed a work order 3 days later Service Tex comes out gets my AC working again but only for the next 4 days. My son is very asthmatic and does not do well with the humidity. I call Service Tex and explain the situation and very rudely Terry, a dispatcher tells me that I will have to file another request through AHS. I call AHS explain the situation and the file a high priority work order. I call Terry back to schedule a time for them to come out for the 2^nd time and again I am treated as if I was an inconvenience, not a customer. She alone is a huge reason I will never use them again. She tells me it will be the next morning. Next morning comes and goes and nothing. I call again and am told that I was last on the list. I told them of my conversation with Terry and it turns into a he said, she said game. Meanwhile, because of the heat my bulldog has a heat stroke. Last that afternoon they come out and take an entire 10 minutes to fix the AC. A part that should have/​could have been replaced when they came out and fixed it the first time. When I asked the tech about it his response is AHS only allows them to fix one part at a time. I would give zero stars if I could!

I’ve used ServiceTex twice for two different HVAC problems in a four year time span. Amazingly, I got the same tech, Andrew, both times. He was prompt, courteous, professional and quick with diagnosis and repair.
I turned to them the first time after Strand Brothers offered to replace my entire HVAC at the cost of $ 6−8K! Andrew came out, checked the system, replaced a capacitor and it only cost me $ 300!
The second call was an easy fix. Andrew was in an out in under an hour.
I’m sad to be moving from the area because good service is definitely hard to find.

I have a Home Shield warranty and was forced to use this vendor. I haven’t actually had a technician come out yet, despite having put in my service request over the weekend (It’s now Tuesday), because they expect YOU to call and schedule them. And if you do talk to them and they put you on the schedule, they can’t tell you WHEN they’re going to show up. So unless you call them the day of your scheduled service call at 9 am to request a specific time frame, you have NO idea when they’re coming. And YOU have to be the one to make that phone call.
I already have a really bad impression of this company and I haven’t had service from them yet!

I was absolutely disappointed with this vendor. As many others, I have a home warranty. When my AC broke in late May, the temperature was already in the 90’s. I called the warranty company in the evening on a Tuesday, and ServiceTex was assigned to me. The next day they called and said they would be by at 2 in the afternoon. At 4, when no one had called or showed up, I called and asked them when they planned to be there, and they said they had had some problems but would be there within the hour. At 6, when they finally showed up, the service tech was VERY friendly. He was very courteous and funny and overall was a great person. In fact, all of my (multiple) dealings with the people that do the work is that they are great, it is just the management and scheduling that is awful. Anyways, they said my motor had broken, and needed to take it to see if it was repairable. The next day, Thursday, they called and said that they ordered a part and it would be in on Friday. Then, LATE Friday they called and said that the wrong part was shipped, and that they would get the new part in on Saturday BUT because they had over-​booked the emergency calls (which have to be answered within 24 hours), they couldn’t get out until Sunday. I was upset at that point, and told them that they needed to look at the schedule again. After getting my hackles up, they sent someone out on Saturday and the unit was fixed.
Fast forward a week. The flooring by the AC unit started bubbling and peeling up around the edges. When I opened the door to the AC unit, water was POURING, not exaggerating, POURING out of the unit. The entire flooring of the room and drywall was soaked completely through. It took them 2 more days after calling them to come out to snake the line that was clogged, so now I have ruined flooring in my living room because they didn’t check the line before they left the first time.
Fast forward 3 weeks. Early July. It is in the triple digits. My AC has gone out again. I called AHS (warranty) and informed them that the unit has gone out again, less than 6 weeks after being initially repaired. That was on Tuesday. Granted, there is a holiday on July 4^th, but I didn’t get a phone call until the afternoon on the Thursday to tell me to call back on Friday to see when my appointment is. That is the other thing; they don’t tell you when your appointment is, YOU have to call on the morning of the appointment after 8 to see when your appointment is. They gave me a window of 9 — 1 and showed up around 1:30. It didn’t take him long to fix the problem, which made me very happy.
I went out of town for the weekend and just got home AND THE AC IS OUT AGAIN. The only words I can use to describe my feeling for this company are not appropriate for the internet. I would NEVER recommend this company. Never.

I have American Home Shield home warranty. Monday night 6÷25÷12 around 9:00 pm my air goes out. I’m 9 months pregnant and going to be bringing my baby home in a few days. I MUST have a/​c, since it hit 105 Tuesday. Tuesday morning AHS assigned Service Tex as the a/​c vendor. I called them as soon as I got confirmation they were going to be servicing the a/​c. I spoke to Kim, and told her of my situation and how I MUST have the air working before I can bring my new baby home. I was desperate to have someone come out THAT DAY. She said she would see what she could do and would call me back. A short time later she called and said a tech would be at my house between 12 – 4. I was thrilled. Justin came, was professional and courteous and fixed my issue within 30 minutes. I couldn’t be happier with the service I got from this company. I would recommend them to anyone I know. and now I can bring my new baby home to a cool house!

Not sure I would use this company again. I called for an appointment to get my A/​C fixed as they are one of the only companies in Austin that takes American Home Shield warrenties. I called them and the person who answered the phone said he could be out the next day. (It was 105 degrees and no A/​C). The following morning I had a followup call for an appointment. They said between 3 and 5pm. At 4pm they called and said they would be closer to 6−630pm. I was home from work and the inside temp was 92′. I waited until 10pm and nobody called or showed up. I had to spend night number 2 without A/​C. My terrific realtor Janet Dean called the rep for American Home Shield and managed to get this situation finally fixed by lunch today. If you have a choice I would not use this company if it can be avoided.

I’ve recently joined Unilocal so in some cases I’m catching up on reviews I would have written sveral months ago had I been a member at the time. Bear with me, this might be a bit long.
So my A/​C started blowing hot air sometime in October 2008. I was recommended Service Tex via the Service Magic website. I called them, and they sent somebody out to check out my A/​C. Turns out that there was a major freon leak in the interior unit, and the whole thing had to be replaced (the evaporator coil specifically). That turned out to be a pretty expensive job ($ 1800).
I probably should have shopped around for better prices, but I didn’t. I went with them.
Generally I had no problems with the service these guys gave me. My only issue was with the time it took to get the job done. Both the guy who gave the initial estimate and the technician that came out the next day said that it would take «a couple of hours» to get the work done. Sounds fine…2−3 hours seemed enough for me. But it didn’t happen that way.
I told the original estimate guy that I would be available for the tech to come in at 8 AM the next day; I figured he would be done by 11 AM or noon at the latest. He told me that the technicians get their job assignments at 8 AM every morning so I probably wouldn’t see him until after that. I imagine all these guys getting into work at 8 AM sitting around a table drinking coffee, talking about the previous day’s customers, etc., while getting their job assignments from their boss. Then when they feel like it, they finally leave for the job site. My technician arrived around 9 AM even though my house is probably only about 10 miles from their main headquarters.
So the tech gets started and at 11 AM, he comes downstairs, and I think he’s done. «Nope,» he says. He has to go back to the shop; he’ll be back in an hour to finish up. One hour turns into two. I guess he took his lunch break as well. Meanwhile, I’m getting a bit agitated. I work at night… a twelve hour shift. I want to go to bed. I told these guys that I wanted to work done as quickly as possible so I could do that. Is there a union of some kind dictating that these guys have to take a lunch at a specified time… reminds me of a bad experience with a plumber a few years ago who did the same thing to me… promised me work would be done in a certain amount of time, but then left for lunch and additional parts greatly extending the time the job needed to be done. It’s very irritating to say the least.
Finally the tech comes back at 1 PM and takes another two hours to complete the job. So that «couple of hours» that I was promised turned into six hours. By this time, I want the guy out the door since I’ll be lucky to get two hours of sleep before working my twelve hour shift. I’m guessing he finally made his way back to headquarters around 3:30 or 4 PM, and oh, guess what… not enough time to do another job for the day so the last hour is spent drinking soda, eating chips, and getting ready for happy hour.
I understand being careful and meticulous about the work, but it sure would be nice if the work could be done in the time promised.
As a positive aside, the work was done very well, and my A/​C has been blowing plenty of cold air during this very hot summer. For that reason I gave them three stars instead of two.
