Cypress Creek Apartments

This place is by far the worst
It’s may 31^st and pool is no where near ready
The maintenance staff do not return emergency calls
The management staff are liars. This place is a waste of time and money. Don’t bother calling the corporate office, they are even worse. I’ve moved in many places before this is by far the worse. The lower rent, turns out u will get what u pay for. Don’t go for the BS at initial contact. The photos on all advertisements is false. This place should be sued for bogus was and lack of integrity.

Do not I live here. I live in one of their «renovated apartments» and the heat has be put on full blast because the apartment is not insulated. The lock on my door has to get fixed and I do not feel secure. My neighbors have had their apartments broken into. The complex does not care about their residents and will have you towed even with a sticker (resident permit). Maintenance does not respond in a timely manner. Maintenance rarely knows how to fix most problems. I know they are trying to update this complex but I am not a fan.

This place sucks. During the process to move in, we were given misinformation twice. The first was that if we moved in by October 17^th 2014, we would be given $ 500 off next months rent. We moved in October 17^th and surprising that was «never said». The second was the apartment we were originally shown and said to be held for us, was not the one we moved in…
The week we moved in we started seeing roaches in the kitchen and one of the bathrooms. My roommate actually saw a mouse. It took them up until last month or for our apartment to be rid of them. We also didn’t have any rails in the closets and was promised that we would receive them in November but did not receive them until last week. We have had serval problems with both toilets in our apartment since the time we moved in, which have not been completely fixed.
The management seem to not want to do their jobs in the winter time because you can virtually never get what you’re asking for during that time. They just started sprucing up the property in March and offering residents «gifts». They are also really bad about informing residents when the water is going to be cut off. Today I sit here in my house with no water. Can’t finish washing my clothes, can’t flush my toilet… and I called the management and their answer is, we put signs in the buildings YESTERDAY instead of leaving them on the doors like good properties do because water is an important element. They leave signs on the doors anytime else, also yesterday is a very short notice to inform someone you’re taking away a utility. Just saying.
They supposedly have security but I’ve only seen him a couple of times and it was mainly to call the tow truck company for cars parked on the parking lot after hours that do not belong which is also stupid because there is way more than enough parking in this complex but when you need him like the night my moms car was stolen… Nope, can’t find him.
This place has been nothing but a headache, little small things that have gotten bigger than they needed to be because they do not take care of their residents.

I HATE THIS PROPERTY!
I have been to better and lived in better. The community is quiet, there seems to be ample parking, the units are good sized and that is about all I can say. They allow pets but as you can imagine many neighbors do not take the care needed to have animals living in an apartment.
Below are about 10+ itemized instances for why you should consider moving into another area all together. I am a good researcher and can verify that this is one of the nicer complexes in Hyattsville, MD. There are several speeding cameras you pass to get to the community (URGH)!
1)Since living here I have had my car backed into and seen others cars hit and PEOPLE ARE NOT DECENT ENOUGH TO AT LEAST LEAVE A NOTE so they just run off.
2)Rodents running around and eating through the walls repeatedly. I see droppings all the time even in my stove top.(NO… I DO NOT KEEP FOOD AND DIRTY DISHES)
3)Centipedes crawling around. They did have the unit sprayed in a timely period.
4)Maintenance is a JOKE! Honestly I think they have stolen clothing. They may or may not show up until you call back to YELL even then the maintenance manger is too much of a wimp to call the residence.
5)The hallways are smelly and minimally maintained — To include torn window screens and tattered carpeting.
6)The fitness center is good sized and clean however half the time NONE of the equipment is functioning properly.
7)The water would come out of the kitchen sink cloudy. Finally they changed my Hot water Pan and the water is clear again. I have no idea how long the old pan had been there but it was disgusting.
8)Staff makes a lot of excuses when called to answer for their management /​maintenance short comings and really seem apologetic.
9)My electric bill is crazy high because of the outdated building structure and is not cleaned regularly.
10)The pool area is nicely kept when it is open however when it is off season not so much. Also they let the water run out down the grass and refill it. Ultimately they have killed the grassy area (Ordinarily the grounds are pretty nicely maintained)
11)People are often smoking out in front of the buildings and talk trash in the parking lots. To come home I have to walk by the smell with my asthma and with my kids hearing grown folks curse words.

My only reason for giving Cypress Creek more than one star is my friend still lives here and her experience hasn’t been completely awful. My numerous visits and «run-​ins» with this complex, however, have been a mixed bag. A couple of years ago my sorority sister and I considered moving here because a lot of other Howard students were residents. The major deciding factor against it was the threat of the unknown: fluctuating gas and electric bills in the winter and summer, which I heard had the capacity to be absolutely ridiculous. Both being on fixed and limited incomes, we decided to go with The Overlook Apartments next door because they were spacious with all utilities included.
Right before we were scheduled to move out, our unit was broken into and our laptops were stolen. I can’t say with complete certainty, but after filing a police report and speaking with a couple officers, we were convinced that our perpetrator likely lived in Cypress Creek. And that is why I despise this place. It’s infamous for housing some of the area’s most detestable human beings. Crime is rampant throughout the complex, and that is probably largely due to the screening process… or should I say lack thereof. A couple of my friends’ cars were also towed here on multiple occasions for signs that weren’t clearly posted. Boo to piss poor management. Unacceptable.
I’d go on ahead and skip over this place if looking for somewhere to move. There is much better available in Hyattsville and the surrounding communities.
