History

Established in 1990.

The Emerald Isle was built by Imogene Grain, Inc. and officially opened for business on September 20, 1990. Since its opening, it has gone through numerous different managers and owners. The current owners, Becca Castle & Kevin Olson, purchased the bar & restaurant on October 1, 2009. Mostly due to its presence in a small Irish Catholic town with little more than a beautiful church and a grain elevator, it has been a gathering place for those who call the community of Imogene home, those who wish they could, and those just passing through. Its location on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail, which extends from Council Bluffs down to Blanchard on the Missouri border, make it a good stopping point for bicyclists, hikers, and cross-country skiiers alike. Imogene’s isolation also makes it a good destination for motorcyclists in the summer, with a scenic drive from almost anywhere.
