John Carr’s Local Motion Moving Company

John Carr came out personally to give us a bid, to explain how the move would work, answer any questions, and left us with contact information should other questions arise. The two men who actually did the move were skilled, experienced, and personable. Like John, they assured us that they were there to make certain that we were satisfied with the move at the end of the day. Though the move was more arduous than anticipated, they retained their good spirits and made sure that everything was in proper order before they left. We recommend Local Motion without hesitation.

I had Local Motion scheduled to move me on 6.13.15 at 8:30am. 8:30am came around…8:45am came around. I had to leave because Big Box was at new place, so I called Local Motion and told them I had to leave but to wait for me at old place and I didn’t care about having to pay to have them wait. About 15 minutes later, I got a call from Coleman Moving Systems saying that Local Motion called them because they had a job they couldn’t do… so 15 minutes before when I had Local Motion on the phone, they didn’t even have to balls to tell me that they weren’t going to be able to show up. They actually had Coleman Moving System «clean up their mess».
I was referred to Local Motion by someone that used them and said that they are extremely fast (maybe they are, but I wouldn’t know becuz they never showed and couldn’t even tell me they weren’t showing up), but I say «Call Coleman Moving Systems instead — 619−223−2255».

The guys were amazing! Thank you Reggie and Ron for doing an awesome job. They are very professional and so helpful. And the price was very reasonable. Would definitely use them again. (:

WHAT A JOKE!!! Spend your money elsewhere unless you like broken stuff!!! Now I have to buy new stuff on top of all my moving expenses.

John Carr is a lifesaver. He is kind, generous and reliable. He moved my step dad for me on almost a moment’s notice. I was out of town and couldn’t even be present for the move. John and his crew handled the whole thing and John personally drove my step dad to his new convalescent home.
I am eternally grateful and would recommend him in a heartbeat.

I just recently moved back home from San Diego after earning a degree from UCSD. After 5 odd years in San Diego I had acquired A LOT of things. I’m normally a crazy mess when it comes to moving. There’s usually some tears, a lot of curse words, yelling, and an abundance of frustration. Moving is one of those things that feels endless. There’s something about seeing your life uprooted and all your things being taken out one by one that makes one anxiety ridden and ornery. This time I am surprised to admit I was almost stress free and in pleasant spirits during my move (minus a few hushed curse words, admittedly). I was lucky enough to have a handsome gentleman named Dylan move me out of my two bedroom apartment. He was punctual, friendly, and made jokes whenever I got anxious. I don’t know how he did it, but he managed to fit a dining room table, 4 chairs, a coffee table, a large bookshelf, a queen sized bed, a bed frame and box spring, a 24-​bottle wine fridge and various other large wardrobe boxes all into his moving truck! I hardly had to put anything into my car. Either my mover is a tetris master or this company seriously knows what they’re doing. Personally I think it’s a little of both. Whatever the case this company is professional, efficient, and provides amazing customer service. My move took about 4 – 5 hours including the drive with traffic up to Orange County. I repeat, I HAVE NEVER had such a stress free and easy time moving before this. All of my things were moved back into my new home safely with no damage. Dylan even helped me reassemble some things we had to break down for the move. I highly recommend this company to others. Unlike larger moving companies, this one takes accountability for broken or missing objects. Since it’s a smaller privatized company, if things break or go missing, there isn’t a huge budget to replace said items so your things are taken care of with extra caution. For all my future moves I plan to use this company and I hope all who read this will take my advice. In the calming words of my mover, «Don’t worry, it’ll fit!»

Overall great with only a few hitches. Got re scheduled and then the movers were an hour and a half late but they compensated me for that which was very cool. :) Will and Mario were exemplary but my Mothers antique sewing machine cabinet did get two little breaks in it. Not the end of the world but I would rather it were in one piece. This is a good company and I recommend them.

John came by a day before the move to check with us, a nice touch to know your mover is going to be there. The next day the team shows up 15 minutes early, ready to go. These guys are pros, they come in with a great attitude and every tool they need to do the job. We moved from a very congested area, no problem they found a way to park their truck and load every thing quickly.
I have white slipcover couches, they stopped to wash their hands before unwrapping the couches, awesome. Johns team is like moving with family they really care about your things and pay attention to details.
We’ve moved 6 times in the last 10 years, I’d put John and his team at the top of my list for smooth movers. No extra charges, came in did their job and were on their way,. A real pleasure to work with, I’d recommend Johns team to anyone who’s moving.

We used John Carr’s moving company to move our 90 year old mom from her home of 32 years to a smaller residence here in San Diego. The owner John was responsive to bids, answered all questions and very pleasant. The truck and 3 nicely dressed men arrived on time and jumped into action. There was another mover a few residences down and the difference in the professionalism was strongly apparent.
They arrived at mom’s new place on time and dealt with a challenging driveway and the «rules» of moving into the new home professionally and with a smile. Nothing was damaged in the move and they helped reassemble mom’s bed and several other items. There were a few things that didn’t fit and these were reloaded in the truck and moved to an alternate location.
Highly recommend as your first choice to move! Thank you John and your wonderful team for making a stressful ordeal much less stressful

My husband and I have made several moves over the last couple of years. We are business owners with a warehouse in Otay Mesa. We have hired Local Motion for all of our warehouse moves and personal real estate moves.
They always continue to impress me. John, Owner, is very helpful and friendly. His staff are excellent and always show up on time. In fact, we have been so impressed with this company that we recently hired them to move my Mother-​In-​Law from Northern California to Southern Cali to be closer to us. They did the move in two days which was well over 24 hours of moving/​travel. They were honest, up front about the cost and very professional.

I hadn’t been at my residence for 2 months prior to the move, consequently, I was unable to sort or pack anything for the move. John Carr and his team, came in, and packed everything up, loaded up the truck. Next morning they delivered to my new apartment. On both days, he was in touch with me several times, giving me current updates, so that I didn’t have to wait around for him. All the boxes were in the areas that they belonged, and I found everything… and nothing was broken! Best move ever!

So happy to know these guys! Honestly, I had angst for months, knowing I had to move two couches out that had only gotten to our lower level by being lowered over the stairwell… How would we get them OUT? Well, Dylan & Co made it happen and
