Don’t judge a book by its cover… The food was wonderful. Green Chili Pork!!! Oh yes. It was really good. I don’t think I had better in the 25 years I lived in Phoenix or my travels to Mexico. Chips and Salsa were very tasty and come in different heat levels. My wife loved her Carne Asada. Yes, the bathrooms are not the best. However, I didn’t come here for the bathroom, I came here for the food and it was well worth the trip.

This place really deserves 4 stars… but the restrooms are terrible. There is no heat and the lightbulb is really dim. Now down to the really good stuff. Simple food made fresh daily, the refried beans are real good. They are not mushy or reconstituted and there is some texture when eating them. The rice is made twice daily and is sooooo good. The rice is not dried out like many mexican restaurants. Wifey had the cheese and onion enchilada with the taco. These are fried tacos and she loved it along with the enchilada. I had them special order my Fajitas. I had them make is with chicken and chorizo. Very very good. The chorizo was not dried out and the chicken was very tender. I’ll tell ya what… fix the potty rooms and this place will easily jump to 4 and a half stars.

Have eaten here on occasion over the last 4 years, there are new owners now and My husband and I went for lunch today. The steak burger has always been great, today not so much, seems to be missing something. We have had mexican different times and today my hubby wanted a taco salad, the only thing he asked for was no sour cream and no quacamole, there was not much salad to it and the ground beef was nasty. No where near what the old owners had to offer. Sorry Lobitos we will not be back UPDATE: I have received information that the origional owner had taken back over and was encouraged to try it again. We went back on Monday January 4, we did not have any mexican this time, both of us had steakburgers. YUMMMMY, the way it used to be.

Do not think about using a coupon at this place. They no longer honor them.

Pulled in and left right away since there were no other cars in the parking lot and the bathrooms are outside. Read some reviews on here about gnats and then jetted.

it wasn’t bad. there was a very nice man cooking and 1 poor girl who was trying to run the carry out counter, the drive-thru, and be a waitress. it was kind of a hot mess in that regard. the salsa bar was great. i loved the(green) salsa verde and there was a very nice chunky salsa along with a chipotle pepper sauce. the sauce they brought with the chips was«mild» it was like red water. it was horrid. so i’m glad they had something else to offer. my husband got the double steak burger and i had a bite. it wasn’t a bad burger at all. the impressiveness was in the sheer size. I’ve never seen a bigger burger! i had a steak burrito. again, the proportions were immense. I could only eat half of it. Overall -…i wasn’t wow’ed but I would come back

The food here is good and well priced, yet in ordering tamales ahead of time for the new year; my family and I were upset to find that they had been given away for another order, it was offsetting because I thought reserved meant reserved.

I visit this location every once in a while. While it is consistent, I have noticed a couple of things. They changed menus. The new one says«margaritas and wine» on it, and there is wine in the refrigerator. There is alcohol on a shelf behind the counter. Once, I asked about wine, they said«we don’t have wine.» Today, I asked about margaritas, it is on the menu. The server said, «we don’t make margaritas.» Their salsa bar now has only spicy salsa, no other choice. The tacos served are fine but bland. The mild sauce tastes like canned tomatoes. I make better tacos at home. Their food is fair, not as good as before, but it is a very popular location. I will eventually eat a cheese burger there. The cheeseburger looked better than my tacos. But why bother with Hi boys across the street.

Despite the reviews we decided to give lobito’s a chance. We should have listened to the negative reviews. Pro’s: margaritas were satisfactory, cheap priced for a picher as well. Con’s: 1. Gnats were everywhere. 2. food was extremely bland. Had a #9 chimis, #2 chicken fajitas and kids quesadilla. All was bland. 3. Cheese queso was just really thick yellow cheese out of a can, nothing added. 4. Rice was mushy. Price was average for a Mexican restaurant.

The service was good. The food… eh. Pros: — tacos were good! — chimichangas were delicious, both chicken and beef — service was good — portions were HUGE! Cons: — beans were bland — rice tasted burnt — ordered cheese enchiladas, got beef — the beef enchiladas were bland and runny I wouldn’t NOT recommend this place, but I’d caution against expectations.

This is one of my family’s favorite spots. The service is always great and enough can’t be said for the food. My wife’s favorite is the green chile pork. Wonderful tender pork chunks in a tasty green chile sauce. My son isn’t very adventurous so he usually just goes for the $ 1 ground beef tacos. They’re the real deal. Four of them and I’m done. I don’t really have a favorite because everything I’ve had here has been delicious. The tamales are seriously the best I’ve ever had. Light and fluffy instead of dense and heavy like most. The burritos, well, they’re GIANT with flavors to match. They’re almost as big as my son ‘s head. See my pic and you’ll be a believer. Despite some other reviews the burgers have always been big and juicy and great. The salsa bar is awesome. The habanero is my favorite because it’s the hottest around. House sauce is nice and the pico is delicious. All of the salsas are always fresh. I wish more people knew of this place because in my opinion it’s the best around. Oh yeah they serve breakfast too! American AND Mexican! Huevos Rancheros yummy! Prices are really cheap for the huge portions you get with any meal. I promise you’ll never leave Lobitos hungry!

This place was recommended by a friend and the steak burger was the suggestion. I don’t shy away, I actually attract to the seemingly seedy types of eateries so the«dangerous building» sign didn’t phase me. I think it is for the construction but idk. I got the burger and it was good although it is your standard per formed patty it was good. The fries were outstanding and I don’t even like fries. Not sure why the location was off by 5 miles but I think I fixed it, we will see. Overall it was good, not great but worth the $ 5.99. I would recommend this place and will probably be back to try other things when passin thru in the future.

Lobitos has some good reviews and it is close to the house so we decided to try it. A I think Mexican family bought a local burger drive through called steak burger and is offering Mexican food as well as the original hamburgers. I had tried steak burgers before the change in ownership and i was not impressed then. I was a little worried when we entered and we were the only customers, at least 4 tables had not been cleared and the entire staff appeared to be sitting at a table talking. It is definitively a mom and pop place. My wife had a burrito number 12 on the menu with shredded beef. The size was really good sized. It was not clear that the beans and rice were all in the burrito. She was really happy until she pulled out a huge section of what appeared to be an artery. She stopped eating after that. I got the number 1 a combination dinner is what was on the menu where you picked your meat. I choose Carne Asada. I began to worry about my meal when My wife’s and Son’s food came out and mine was no where in site. My wife actually finished eating by at least 4 minutes before I even got mine. Turns out the Carne Asada was just a pork steak about an 1⁄8 of an inch think and cooked to just prior to it becoming actual leather. This was served with Rice and Beans, Sour cream, Guacamole and tomato, lettuce and 3 tortillas. Certainly not what I was hoping for or expecting. The price of $ 9 was high for a piece of pork steak that would be less than a dollar at a grocery store. Then poorly cooked made it fairly sad. My wife and I agree that on the border has better food and it is cheaper, that with SLOW service and a dinning room full of dirty uncleared tables left us with a bad taste in our mouths.

We were on our way to Denny’s when we thought of checking to see what was in the area and found this place that served Mexican food but was only open until 6 — so we thought we should give a try instead. Imagine my joy when they not only served Mexican but breakfast all day. My friend ordered a combo meal which he said was pretty good. I got the 2 pancakes, 2 eggs and bacon(oh and a side of a beef taco). It was all good. I really enjoyed the place and the atmosphere — we had great service. We tried about 4 out of the 6 salsa’s and all were good. The tortilla chips are fried fresh and amazing. This was a hit and if we were here longer — I would be going back to try the steak burger because we saw one as we were leaving and it looked amazing. Only downfall — bathrooms are outside and no one likes to grab onto one of those dirty key chains in the middle of eating.

The sign said Steak Burgers but I really wanted Mexican food. As I entered I noticed it was actually a Mexican restaurant! They had a banner hanging from the ceiling with big letters«HAPPYBIRTHDAY!» I didn’t realize it was my birthday but hey that’s pretty cool. Wife and I ordered and I noticed they had a regular burrito and a huge burrito for an extra buck. The one I wanted didn’t come with pork. I figured the regular size burrito would be big enough so I ordered it with Chicken. They brought out two of the largest burrito’s I’ve ever seen. Both were pork!!! I’m starting to realize that they can read minds here and bring what you want and not what you say. They brought out some french fries that have a light tempura batter. It came to my attention that they had a drive through because I could hear clearly all the people ordering their food over a loud speaker. I was amazed. The next day I went back and ordered through the drive through using my Yoda voice just to freak everyone out.

Expectations were high since I was intrigued by the sign outside. When I saw that most of the people there spoke Spanish my expectations rose a little more. Could this be the place I have been looking for in KC for some late nite tacos? To say that the food was authentic is a huge strech. It reminded me of what people think Mexican food should be around the Denver area. Not quite tex-mex not quite authentic and overall all wrong. I am sure that if you grow up with some similar tasting food for Mexican this place will seem ok, but I honestly would not be a repeat customer.

The staff here is just the greatest. Normally they close at 6pm on Sunday(which we didn’t know) — we drove all the way from Gladstone and got there at 6:10pm. They were *extremely* gracious and let us in anyhow. :-) …Which was fortunate, cuz I really had a craving for Chorizo again. MMMM Chorizo… /omnomnom I kept apologizing to the waitress for keeping her there late, and thanking the owner(and the cooks) for letting us in. To top it all off, about 3 different groups of people followed us in afterward — /facepalm — God only knows what hour they finally got to close the doors and go home! ;-) Great food, great staff — we definitely tried to make it worth their while — by letting them know we gave them FIVESTARS on Unilocal ;-) We’re definitely going back, but well before 6pm if it’s Sunday [**BSEG] ** Big Shiznit Eating Grinz: b
