Came from Poland in 1994 with 19 years experience in the restaurant business. Graduated culinary arts school in 1972. opened first business in 2001 at Belmont Ave Springfield area location.

I have finally found my go to for really good Polish food. Had lunch with a friend on New Years eve day. We both ordered the polish platter that includes 1 golumpbki, 3 pirogi, kielbasa, hunter stew, and mash potatoes. The hunter stew was the star of the plate along with very good golumpki served with a tomato based sauce over the top. Pirogi wete also very good and yes they serve real potatoes in their mashed. I will be back for more Polish goodness in the future.

I came here to Hanna’s for the 1st time today with my Friend after we discovered it on Unilocal.Both ordered the Polish Platter, let me just say this was some of the best Polish Food I’ve ever had! I also specialize in cooking Polish food & am well aware of the time it takes to prepare & could tell the person preparing & cooking this food took no shortcuts! The Bigos (Hunters Stew) which is like Kapusta only 10x better, was truly the star of the dish. The kielbasa was so lean & full of flavor & as another Unilocaler mentioned, def used Real mashed potatoes! This meal was cooked with Love, using quality ingredients! Our waitress was also terrific, very attentive & was around when you needed her but not overbearing either. We found our new place for FANTASTIC AUTHENTIC Polish Food!!!

Tried this place on a whim when we were in the area and left completely thrilled to have stumbled upon Hanna’s. We haven’t found decent Polish food since moving to Mass and aside from the golubki being too dry, everything on the Polish platter was excellent. The bigos and kielbasa were truly outstanding, pierogi was good. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and recommended a really good Polish beer I hadn’t tried before and beet and cucumber salads that were tasty.
We were the only folks in the place who didn’t speak Polish but didn’t feel like that was a problem, more fun for us to try to guess what was being said.
They have a small attached deli that we stopped at before we left and took home bigos and pierogi frozen for later. Our waitress also rang up our purchases and gave us some candy on our way out. A sweet ending to a great visit!

While their polish food is good I have questions about what actually goes into it. They use instant potatoes. How hard is it to boil, milk and smash potatoes, especially when polish food is already considered some of the most labor intensive there is? As always I am bothered by the small things, but if you can’t even make your own potatoes, how can I trust the rest of your food?
