History
Established in 2010.
Jack loves to cook — growing up in a family of 15 kids — he only knows how to cook in volume. Entertaining friends and family for years with gourmet dining he retired from health care and pursued a life long dream of being a restauranteur. The void in authentic southern BBQ in the Anchorage area spurred him on to investigate and learn the skills and etiquette of southern BBQ. He trained with BBQ guru Mike Mills at 17th St. BBQ down south and proceeded to apply years of gourmet excellence to southern BBQ. Now Alaskans and tourists alike can experience northern exposure to southern smoke April through September on the majestic shores of Turnagain Arm. The name ‘Arm Pit’? Simply a natural spin off the location and Jack’s omnipresent sense of humor.
