120 West Bar & Grill

Met friends here for dinner at 6pm on a Saturday night. Only one other table in the restaurant. Service was good. The server took care of us, it was not slow but a slow pace… waited until almost finished with appetizers before taking our order. We had the nachos w/​chicken and chicken bites for appetizer. Nachos were huge and good. Chicken… egh had better for cheaper. I had the turkey club and it was delish. Along with the fruit as my side. The fruit was amazing, so sweet and tasty considering its not in season. Had tasty cocktails. Every one at our table enjoyed their food. Would come again…

We came here for Devour Downtown. The menu sounded AMAZING. The food was all fine, just not quite what we were expecting from the descriptions or the other Devour fare. Everything was just okay. If I’m looking for someplace to eat in this area of town, I’ll look elsewhere.

Well how interesting. Had at least an hour before a no big deal appointment, had a reason to learn how to make a Dirty Martini, so I stopped in – such a nice hotel, and Yay! Happy Hour already started. Told my nice bartender Eric I’d like to try one plus the recipe. He started to make it immediately and it was like, nothing was out and ready. The liquor was locked and no one could find the key. They did not have blue cheese olives. Still, meanwhile Eric wrote out the recipe and we discussed details. He stayed cool. Turned out a previous bartender had taken the keys home! I was like, sounds like shift change issues on some nursing unit.
They made it up to me and I tipped Eric.

I enjoy eating breakfast when we stay at the Hilton. They are always pleasant and great service. Today Francisco at the Omelette Station was amazing and entertaining. A good mix of humor and customer service. This guy is a gem for the establishment.

Staying at the Hilton and there are 2 restaurants. This and a pricey steak house. I didn’t want 32 ozs of beef for $ 50, so I tried this place. It was empty at 7 pm and the hotel was full so that should have been a clue. I ordered burgundy beef tips. It was the special. The beef was tough. The sides were bland. I couldn’t even finish the food. Reading the other reviews, I would stick to the buffets at lunch. I’ll find another place to eat for the rest of my stay.

Came in here for a birthday party approximately 25 people — not another person in the place — seated at 6 pm — first drinks 25 minutes then ordered food — mostly sandwiches and burgers — food started coming 1 hour later. And 25 minutes after that only half of our group had been served. Wait staff was extremely slow with drinks. We were going to the show at the hotel and most of us didn’t get food before having to leave for the show. Total time in restaurant 2 and a half hours. Would not recommend

Terrible. Absolutely the worst overall dining experience from start to finish. This was on a Friday night at 7:30 p.m. — what should be prime time: Two of us stood awkwardly in the doorway for nearly 10 minutes waiting to be greeted, not seated, but just acknowledged. There were three tables filled at this point. After we were finally seated, we placed an app and drink order. Drinks came, but the app took another 40 minutes! It was charcuterie — there’s no cooking involved! Bread for the table came 30 minutes after we were seated and I had to waive down server several times for more water as our table was not checked on. While we waited well over an hour for our entrees, we were one of two tables left in the entire restaurant. The table beside us was so frustrated, they left and requested food be delivered to their hotel room. At several points we considered walking out, but because I had purchased Living Social coupon, I was determined to use it. There was one feeble, «Sorry for the wait» apology as the food was served, after 1 hour and 35 minutes. My «pulled pork» was tough strips of some dry meat and my guest was so outraged, he couldn’t eat his meal — he boxed it and we left. I can only assume this place is closing for dinner as it was understaffed, poorly operated, food was miserable and no one was there.

3.5 stars based on only getting the lunch buffet and no drinks. I got the create your own pasta with no pasta lol (veggies, Alfreda sauce and pesto mixed together). They had your basic veggie options. The meat options were chicken and sausage. It was good (had two plates) but not spectacular, nothing fancy or over the top. The rest of the buffet included 3 soups (tomato, chicken tortilla, beef and bean chili, 3 salads, cold pastas and salad spreads, bread (bread was basic and not warm but that didn’t stop me from having 3!), quesadillas, zucchini & squash, beef carving station, fruit, deserts (cheesecake, chocolate mouse and others) and chocolate fondue. Soft Drinks were included in lunch buffet

Came for dinner — selection for entrees was small and over priced. Halibut was cooked perfectly but not exciting. I would not order it again because it is not memorable.
I thought the pairings for the Salmon needed more than just sauce and potatoes. That fish selection may have had more flavor…
They also have veg as sides like broccoli and asparagus (I try to avoid eating to many carbs). Broccoli is made with butter that gave it unimpressive flavor (better than just plain though — so thanks for trying).
The service was lacking, small cups of water and no one to check to make sure they stayed full. We were the only people eating when we arrived and the room had one additional couple when we left.
I might add I used a living social coupon and would still not come back. They need to find a niche other than boring. They have competition for anyone willing to eat outside the hotel.
In closing, it wasn’t terrible but I won’t make a trip to come back unless it is for the breakfast noted from others…

Excellent lunch buffet! Build your own pasta action station with artichokes, asparagus, mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, chicken and other yummy ingredients, different pasta and sauce choices. Probably whatever veggies are in season, as it looked very fresh. The chef was super nice and thoughtful. One sauce had more kick than another and he let me know. There were soup options with the chili and clam chowder being very good. Lots of clams and great flavor. There is a salad bar with fresh breads to choose from. I loved the Caesar that was pre-​prepped. I usually don’t like pre-​dressed salad, but this was just right. They have pizza and a dessert bar too! Finish it off with Starbucks (inside the hotel) and I’m a happy camper! Best buffet!

Service for our large group of 13 was so slow it was painful. Food was good when it finally arrived. One waiter with no help. Not an equation for success.

The prices are high but the quality is great for a breakfast buffet. I’m at the Hilton once a year during GenCon and we always make sure to come down for breakfast at least once. They serve french press coffee (my personal preference for home brewing!). Even my wife’s tea came in a small press. Oh and their chocolate malts are pretty good too.
If the prices were a touch lower, this would easily be a 4 for me.

Avoid the «pork shank» unless you like chewing on pieces of lard! Seriously, this is the absolute worst meal I have ever had. The service was awful even though we were the only table in the restaurant. The food was so bad that I wouldn’t even feed it to my dog. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! The pork shank I ordered was nothing more than a bone surrounded by fat. I almost laughed when the clueless waiter brought it out. I cannot say enough bad things about this restaurant. The prices aren’t cheap either!

The food here is actually quite excellent. They source a lot of their ingredients locally and it shows. The problem is you never can shake that feeling that you are, indeed, in a hotel restaurant. It lacks even the slightest bit of character. Other than the framed photographs from old Indy 500s, you feel like you could be in any city in the US.
It was completely dead when we went there for dinner at 9 PM on a Saturday night. I get the feeling that’s how it is every night. It doesn’t help that it is right across the hall from McCormick & Schmick’s.
I have heard that the lunch buffet is when the joint really gets hoppin’. I need to try that sometime.

Last Saturday my boyfriend, my best friend, and I all went to this place because we had a
coupon. That may have been the reason we chose the place but we were pretty satisfied.
We arrived around 6:45 and there wasn’t a soul in the place. Yup, just about the entire time we three were the only people around. One couple came and went while we were there and another threesome sat for a quick drink and left. This worried us a little bit but as soon as the crusty (in the best way) seedy bread came out with whipped butter, we were just fine. I wanted four more pieces of that hearty bread. It was great.
Probably the star of the entire night, for me at least, were the gravy fries. They were only $ 4 on happy hour special but damn, amazing, delish were they! Thick cut fries with pot roast, gravy, and cheese? Yes, please. I swear I would go back just for these alone.
The entrees were alright, not stellar, but decent. I had the mahi mahi sandwich and it was a bit unweildy. The sucker was a triple decker the height/​size of my iPhone. I cut it in fours at the recommendation of the server and managed to plow my way through it. It was tasty but, as my boyfriend said, the flavors all kind of melded. And not in a great way really… You couldn’t taste the great pineapple and chili aoili… They were lost.
Desserts (german chocolate cake and crème brûlée) were solid. The cake was a huge thick slice with great icing and the cappucino crème brûlée was a bit looser than I was used to but packed great flavor.
Summary: Go for the gravy/​cheese fries (happy hour is from 4:30−7p most nights!) and stay for the dessert… Maybe just skip the entrees…
P. S. Service is slow but not ungrateful. We stayed after our meal for another two hours chatting and our water glasses never went empty. Nice touch.

I had dinner there and thought the food was average. Just as expected in a hotel bar. Both my meal and my wife’s meal was very mediocre.

Ok, its a hotel restaurant. And the menu is limited. But they do a very good job with the menu they have. Fresh rolls were delivered to the table and they tasted like the ones my grandmother made.
My wife ordered a margarita. It was a good one for a happy hour drink.
My wife had the french onion soup which was thicker than others she had, with more onions. It was rich and its hard to beat that onion/​broth/​cheese combo.
She ordered the bbq chicken entrée. Chicken was free range. Mashed potatoes tasted homemade. The chicken was tender and the sauce was just right. My spinach gnocchi came with a fresh tomato sauce. The gnocchi were tender, not hard lumps. The sauce was fresh tasting like ones my wife had prepared at home with our late tomatoes. I also had a very good caeser salad.
Good service to boot.

Any place with the word «fresh» in it’s name is a place I want to try. But, I also figure it might be a little too high priced. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the prices at 120 West were not higher. The atmosphere feels upscale and the food is delicious and healthy, so paying $ 15 once and a while for this experience is well worth it.
The lunch buffet (from 11 – 2 during the week) is unbeatable! The choices seem endless, with freshly carved meats, tons of homemade salads, soups, and even desserts and a chocolate fountain. And my favorite part of the buffet is the pasta bar – made to order with as many fresh veggies as you want and your choice of sauces and meats. Yum!
The flatbreads are also very good, and the staff is very classy and friendly.
I’m dying to go back for the breakfast buffet some Sunday morning. And when I do, I will wait until I’m nearly starving (the buffet doesn’t end until 10:30 on Sundays, noon on Saturdays) so I can load up on fresh veggie omelets made to order, fresh fruit, smoked salmon and yummy pastries.

The breakfast buffet seems to be one of the better hotel experiences I have had for a mainstream hotel. If you are a Hilton Honors Gold member (at least for the deal that was offered to me) you certainly cannot beat the $ 4 price either.

I had been meaning to use for a while. My husband and I planned an afternoon/​evening out in Indy, so I thought this would be a good time to put it to use. We scoured the Indianapolis restaurant selection on restaurant.com’s website and ended up selecting 120 West Market Fresh Grill based on their menu options.
We found parking right across the street — the meter already had 40 minutes on it, so we added in another hour just to be safe. The dining room was fairly empty when we walked in around 5:30 or so on a Saturday. There were maybe three other groups of people or so. We found ourselves waiting for a minute or two before someone came to seat us. Finally our server came to bring us to our table and present us with menus.
The décor was very tasteful and upscale. There was more silverware at the table than I knew what to do with and there were three different drinking glasses.
We decided to go with the White Bean Dip as our appetizer. This was a cheesy dip with white truffle oil, served with slices of french baguette. It was very good. The server had also brought out fresh rolls, which I found to be rather salty. When we finished the french baguettte slices, we dipped in pieces of the roll and even spooned out the dip like a soup. It was enjoyable regardless of how we ate it.
I ordered the Two Cheese Grilled Cheese with a side of french fries for my entrée. This sandwich consisted of brie and blue cheese on brioche toast. While I like to think of myself as a cheese lover, I do not think that this was the best flavor combination for a grilled cheese. Both cheeses were far too strong, and the sandwich was not very enjoyable. ‘Sandwich’ is actually putting it lightly since there were literally THREE full-​sized sandwiches presented. I ate roughly half of one. The fries were good but nowhere near spectacular. It also came with a side of apple chutney — not quite sure if there is a difference between that and applesauce but that is what it tasted like.
My husband had a three-​pack of the Black Bean Burger sliders. Basically, taking one bite of one of these caused most of the insides to slide out of the bun (is that why they’re called sliders?). They were barely lukewarm and very crumbly.
We wrapped up dinner with caramel cheesecake. Very cute presentation but nothing to write home about.
I am not likely to return as I was not terribly impressed with anything on the menu except for the appetizer.
