To be honest I completely forget the name of the dish I got, but it was one of their combos that features chicken and rice covered in a mild red sauce plus two sides(I got the green beans and spinach.) The spinach was full of flavor, the green beans while good were nothing unique. The chicken was tender and the sauce had a mild spice to it. Overall you get a good amount of food for the money and the service was great! I’ll definitely be coming back!

The cutest couple runs this stand in City Market. I absolutely LOVE it! The falafel special is of course a favorite and I’m sad they don’t offer it the rest of the week. I really like the combo plates — meat, rice and a side. You get a lot of bang for your buck with that. The chicken shwarma sandwich is also a filling lunch. The pita is delicious! Worth the trip to City Market and a must if you’re in the area. The line is sometimes long but moves fast compared to other stands where you wait half your lunch hour for your meal to come out.

Delicious food crafted by a Jordanian couple. Their kindness shows in their great customer service. The man in line before me was a retired judge who comes from the other side of town every Monday to get their falafel, which says something. I had the Monday special, a kind of chicken in a yogurt sauce with rice. It was tasty and very filling. If you are a cardamom enthusiast I recommend their hot tea. I loved this place and will definitely be back!

Mediterranean themed carryout place located in City Market along the east wall. As a previous review said, it’s a mom and pop place and the service is very friendly(the«mom» is especially sweet and friendly every time). I can’t speak for much of the menu because I always go with the Barbeque Chicken dish — a few pieces of juicy roast chicken served with brown rice and your choice of vegetable(I always go with steamed). Very hearty and satisfying, yet healthy. I no longer work across the street but when I did this was one of my favorite City Market places… was downtown meeting a friend yesterday and made it a point to grab some carryout from here before heading back home Once again, a great lunch. Definitely worth a visit!

I have a hard time with restaurants modifying or westernizing foreign foods to satisfy the pallet of the general public. I completely understand the need for it and it’s good business sense, but it doesn’t sit well with me. I had the mujadara lunch special and it was pretty good… but its true flavor and identity is much different without the modifications made. To me it could have easily passed as Chinese food and real mujadara wouldn’t have been close to being mistaken for anything else.

This is one of my favorite places in City Market! I have been eating here regularly for 3 years and the daily specials are always excellent and very filling. The baked vegetables special and the Friday Mujadara special(lentils, carmelized onions, rice, and other great things) are among my favorites. I look forward to Fridays all week long for the chance to eat Ameer’s Mujadara!

My wife tried their gyros. Nothing special, average. Good size, not too greasy, plenty of accoutrement, lettuce, tomato. If we head back to the Market, may try the other Gyro joint. See how they match up…

This restaurant in the west wing of the City Market has managed to elude me for quite some time now. Alas, I finally found it and immediately had to try it last week. The value of the daily special was disappointing — I’d was expecting a side, a salad, and pita along with the special, but no, it was just the special and rice — that’s it. Once I dug into it though, the food was very good. Great flavor and just all around yum. I’ll be back to try the veg items on their menu — stay tuned for updates. :)

Was expecting rather more given the reviews. Had the Gyro sandwich; the gyro isn’t the real thing(which is layers of meat, placed on a vertical skewer and grilled) but one of the prefabricated elephant leg things. Maybe should have had the special.

Gyros sandwich was unbelievable. I guess I’m too accustomed to the fake stuff, frozen/microwaved meat blends with old sauce, dry pita bread. This sandwich was the real thing! The meat was juicy on one side and nicely seared from the rotisserie on the other. The tzatziki sauce was tangy and fresh. The tomatoes and onions had a ton of flavor that nicely enhanced the gyros meat. And the bread was soft and soaked up the little bit of juice from the meat. I know there’s other cool places to try in the City Market, but I’ll be hard pressed not to make a bee-line back to Ameer!

The Friday special is what I live for. Mujadara– carmelized onions, lentil and rice pilaf with the salad and yogurt sauce. Yum! Cash only!

The food is excellent! It is run by a mom and pop couple! The food is freshly made and the portions are very generous. It is not spicy but very flavorful! I had the beef in a white sauce — the sauce was somewhat sweet possible made with cream and I think I detected a hint of cardamon maybe an additional spice like cloves, or allspice, and of course a very slight onion taste — which is part of the base of the sauce! They put it over the rice if u get the combo mmmmm rice with the sauce — a must! Also tried the mixed veg with cabbage — the flavors in this where more subtle than I like — mostly just slightly steamed veg. with slight seasoning. I also tried the cauliflower in a tomato sauce — it was good but still lacking in the punch I was looking for. I will go again and keep trying different veg till I get one that is more aromatic and dances on my tongue! Lastly — the ice tea they make… Is spiced it is SO yummy!!! If u are in or near city market at lunch I highly recommend this tasty alternative! It is cash only so don’t forget ur money! From the looks of it they change the menu depending on day — I was there on a Wednesday.

Food and service is always a delight! The cleanest kitchen and the best tea served hot or cold. I like to try the daily specials I don’t always know how to pronounce but, I can always enjoy the dishes! Come try it for lunch one day you will not be disappointed…
