Never do business with Barrett Asset Management. They are a leasing agency who does not know how to keep track of their files. They have lost my information for the third time. I will never do business with them again after I move from my location. They are not to be trusted. I have had 4 property managers over the course of a year and three months I have been with them. And have had my information lost three times. Livid is what I am and no one should ever do business with them. I fought a 10 months to get a broken window that could have shattered fixed. And it actually wasn’t fixed. They had a handy man who came in and jimmied it so it could be opened and not fall out, all because they didn’t want to have the expense of taking it out and putting it in properly. When I first moved it it took them a month to get me proper heaters for my apartment… Yes it was winter time. Theelse are just a few of the issues i have had. They don’t keep their word and show themselves as professional but aren’t really. There are no reasons I should have any of these issues.

Barratt recently bought my building from the company that previously managed it. After about four months, I am not impressed. They are disorganized and sloppy. Each month, they try to charge me for utilities that I am not required to pay, per my lease. And each month, I inform them of this. To their credit, they have taken off the payments each time, but it would be great for them to get it right the first time. I allow for some growing pains at the beginning. But this level of disorganization month after month is unacceptable. I am sick of seeing all these unauthorized extra charges on my bill each month.

Where to start. Conflicted [positively] initially by relatively low rent, but… First two winters the advertised«free heat» required maintenance visits at least three times per week to make heat actually«work» — and then it never did for more than maybe 36 hours. It was freezing for most of each winter. Fuses blow routinely given no extraordinary electrical demands and garbage disposal is a geiser out of the other side of the sink. In short, infrastructure of apartments is sorely lacking in needed updates. [The heat this third winter is better, to be fair, but that’s what it should have been all along.] However, this year, landlord in an apparent attempt to lease apartments at all cost, has ignored their own lease restrictions on pets and we’ve had a non-stop pit bull howling and barking downstairs for past two plus months. Repeated attempts by various tenants to get the lease enforced have gone unheeded. In short, rent-paying residents aren’t really valued here. I’d strongly suggest you look elsewhere.

I have lived in an apartment that is managed by Barratt Asset Management for the past 2 and a half years. It has been nothing but a massive headache for that entire time. –They have an online system for submitting service requests. This would be good, but it is completely mismanaged. On multiple occasions, they have closed my tickets with no work being done or with the work being incomplete. They are just trying to get tickets closed and do not care if I am still having issues. –Rent billing is a consistent problem. I was charged a late fee that violated the terms of my lease. I had to go to the office and have this corrected. They also continue to charge me the wrong amount for rent then try to retroactively charge me. –When my dishwasher broke, they tried to charge me for a new one. There was no justification for this. Only after refusing to pay for it did they back down. Every interaction I have had with this company has left me completely frustrated. Avoid their apartments if at all possible!
