Eagle Creek Animal Clinic

My dad had tried this vet in the past for his cat. While said cat received pretty good care, it cost an arm and a leg. About $ 140 for an office visit and an injection for an ear infection, if memory serves.
Fast forward to nearly three weeks ago when one of our rescue cats was in obvious pain while eating. I had made a lot of progress with him, but we knew a vet visit was in order.
Long story short, an examination was done. He was going to need dental work and also had this wound that was not healing as soon as it should. The vet suspected feline leukemia and did blood work. That ten minutes waiting felt like an eternity in hell.
It came back that he did indeed have feline leukemia. His life may have been prolonged for a few months with the proper dental care, but it would cost upwards of $ 500 on top of what was already racked up. We had to make the very difficult decision to let him go. It was completely unexpected and quite devastating. This poor cat had been through a lifetime of hard knocks on the streets and deserved to have a happy home finally, but it would never be so.
My problem with this vet is the high cost. Had it not been so expensive, his life could have been spared for awhile. Office visit and blood work alone was nearly $ 400, not including the price of private cremation. In my experience with receiving bad news or having to put my babies down in the past at three other vets in other states, they took mercy on me and gave me a break. One even charged nothing at all for the office visit. I realize veterinarians need to make a living and are not a charity, but I feel the costs here are highly exorbitant.
Eagle Creek seem to be more thorough and competent than other vets I have used in the area, but, again, the price is something that will definitely keep me away. It is for that reason that I cannot give them any higher than two stars.
In addition, this vet is one that offers a mass cremation at a cheaper price where your beloved animal companion’s ashes will be scattered in a «rose garden.» I am tired of hearing this option as I personally do not believe there is any such thing. When was the last time you saw a rose garden at a vet? Hmm — NEVER. All I see is maybe a dumpster out back, just saying. Always opt for the private cremation.
While his ashes were in a decent tin container which was placed in a very nice velvet drawstring bag, I received a much nicer wooden box at a lower price at another vet for less money, and that cat was cremated at an actual mortuary and not a pet service. The staff all signed a card that they sent to my dad, but they presumed to address it to his nickname and not his proper name, which we found a bit rude.
Overall, I am not happy and would not return unless I absolutely had to and also had a sudden influx of money to burn. Competent, but far too costly.
EDITING to add that a manager from Eagle Creek contacted me and we were able to speak by phone, which is greatly appreciated. The cremation company they use sounds reputable. I still question some of the other places I have been, but in this case it sounds like if you were to opt for mass cremation that the ashes would actually be placed in a garden. Personally, I would prefer to keep the ashes still, but it might be a good option for other people.
I still feel the cost at this vet is pretty high, but the manager did say they have payment plans and take Care Credit. A lot of vets don’t. While I still long for the small town vet I used to have in another state that made you feel like family, Eagle Creek seems to be the best choice I have encountered so far, at least on the west side of Indy. The fact that Sarah took the time to speak with me makes me feel a lot better about Eagle Creek. For that reason I am bumping up to three stars.

I have had cat for 6 years, and we have probably tried 4 vets. Until now! No matter where we go, I will ONLY bring my cat to Eagle Creek Vet Clinic! The staff is so friendly and professional! Dr. Foster was thorough, friendly, and sincere! Even the building was incredible! My cat usually has panic attacks going to the vet, but she was more relaxed than I have seen her in a long time! We definitely will be back! :-)

My family has been loyal customers for 20 or so years. Dr Allen and Dr Foster are excellent caring vets. The staff is awesome– kind, friendly and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t take my fur babies anywhere else!

I just want to thank the staff at Eagle Creek Animal Clinic for taking care of Buddy and for being so kind to our family.
This was the first time I’ve ever had to put down a pet and it was an extremely painful experience. The all of the staff at the clinic were very caring and sweet to our family. They made sure that we had nothing to worry about other than just being there for our Buddy in his last moments on Earth.

I’m always gonna love this place after how amazing they were when we had to let go of one of our dogs.
Did you know vets will make house calls for that? That kept our poor buddy from being completely anxiety ridden in his last minutes…
