I go here because the service is fast and its right next to the movie theater. The food is okay and is similar to other Mexican restaurant in the area. The prices are higher than some of the others. The ala carte tacos are the ones that stood out. We are talking about a dollar here or there not a enough of a difference not to come here. As far as the taste goes I have no complaints at all. The margarita being able to get by the pitcher is very nice. The chips and salsa is always a crgreat start. My wife really likes the cheese and bean dip. I think it’s good. I seem to always get the their house special burrito. Its filled with shrimp, chicken and steak. It is covered in cheese sauce and green sauce. I comes with a side of rice and usually I’m full when I leave. I will say it was less greasy and the steak was less fatty compared to the same burrito at other places inn the area.(I uploaded a picture of it? I would recommend this place if you want something quick before you go to the movies around the corner.

My wife an I go here regularly. The food is good. She says the portions are too small. I like the steak fajitas and she usually gets something spicy.

The food is your average run of the mill Mexican. A little on the pricey side of you’re just getting food. The best thing about this place is the drink menu. Holy moly. They are reasonably priced and they don’t hold back on the amount of alcohol in the drink. This is the only place in the Indy area that I will go and get margaritas at.

While on a mini-vacation we had lunch here at the recommendation of a friend who lives locally. The service was really great and the food was delicious. I ordered the King Burrito and my boyfriend got a combination plate. I was a little scared as I assumed by the name my meal would be the size of my head but happily it was a normal portion and so so good! If I’m ever back in Indy and craving Mexican I’ll be sure to make another trip here!

This place is mediocre at best. They don’t even serve fried cheesecake. The fried ice cream wasn’t the best. The fried coating was soggy and rubbery. I ordered a supreme burrito and all it was was meat and onions. Honestly the best part of my meal was the salsa and it wasn’t that great. I won’t be eating here again.

Best authentic Mexican food in Indy! Absolutely delicious. Friendly and fast service too. I moved from the south side farther north and I still make the 30 minute drive every now and then to get their carnitas. Their rice and beans are definitely the best in town.

First off. The hostess was A+. I give the service 5 stars because of her. There is no menu of this place anywhere online and the website wants you to send your info so they can have someone mail you their menu. So when we called we asked the girl a hundred questions and she had no problems answering any of them. Also, we love Mexican so we order from 3 Mexican restaurants on the south side and I generally dread it because the guys who answer the phones always talk so dang fast and I cant understand them sometimes. This girl spoke slow and enunciated very well. I give the price 1 to 2 stars. Most Mexican restaurants around here are the same and taste the same. We get the same thing at all of these restaurants. We order a taco salad, two burritos, a kids quesadilla, and queso dip. This usually runs us $ 27 around here. At this restaurant it costed us $ 35. That’s almost another meal difference! With that said, I expected great food for the price. Nope. Most Mexican places around here hit the spot. The burritos were not bad, but they were not good either. Kids quesadilla was almost just a tortilla shell and the fries were completely soggy, they forgot the lemonade. My favorite Mexican dish is the queso. This queso was actually tasteless! Very bland. My husband rated the salad a 4⁄5 but I didn’t try it.

This is a good Mexican restaurant. It’s not special or unique, but the service is friendly and fast and their food is delicious queso-y goodness. I like the arroz con pollo and have also have the carnitas — both are delicious. If you’re in the area, it’s not a bad place to stop for a meal.

I had driven by this place a thousand times. It took a major craving for Mexican food and a quick check on Unilocal to get me in the door. And, am I glad we did! They start with the standard of chips and salsa. I definitely approve of their version. My husband swears by the Burrito de Carne Asada. I have tried a few different items and have not been disappointed. Their enchiladas fixed that initial craving for sure. If there is one thing I’m not in food love with, it’s the guacamole. It’s less chunky than I prefer. But, that’s a personal preference. The staff are friendly and efficient. I have never had anything but a very pleasant experience here. If you’re ever hungry after seeing a movie at Showplace 17, I recommend you give them a shot.

Azabache is a great place. However it does mix in American Mexican with authentic Mexican which is a little unfortunate. Mango and peach margaritas are awesome.

Had a good lunch with the kids here. Salsa was spicier than most which is a big plus for me. Lunch fajita was awesome and well priced. Service was quick, and server was attentive. Margarita was good, but served in a standard drinking glass, which is odd when drinking a marg with salt. I would have preferred a Marg glass, but no biggie. All and all a great lunch, and I will return.

I like it because they have some delicious vegetarian options. Though I ordered their«bean dip» and it was mostly cheese. I’ve had the veggie fajita and burrito and both were very good. My sister had the beef tacos and they came cold. Sent them back and they came back cold again. The Margaritas were just okay but fairly priced.

I love this place. We’ve been coming here since I moved to Indy 10 years ago. I’ve tried about everything and never been disappointed. My favorite is the quesadilla Roja. And a meal here isn’t complete without guacamole, salsa, and cheese dip. Order the large cheese dip or you’ll be sorry. The small is not enough to share. The staff is very friendly friendly. And we’ve never had to wait to be seated. They are also very quick preparing your meal. Don’t miss this place.

Food is average Mexican. Very fast service. I always have tacos and enchiladas with queso for my chips. They do allow substitutions on the combos(ie, chicken instead of beef). Where it’s at here is the margaritas. Delicious! Amazing, and strong!

Grabbed dinner here before a movie at IMAX. We decided we wanted dinner and drinks, margaritas sounded good. This is the typical semi-authentic Mexican cuisine, so there’s a Speedy Gonzalez on the lunch menu just like everywhere else. They offer margaritas from 12 to 48 ounces or a pitcher of margaritas. We came for margaritas and were not disappointed. We had margaritas on the rocks which were appropriately strong drinks. Dinner was chicken enchiladas with a salsa verde served with rice. The chicken was well cooked and nicely seasoned. The rice was good, but unremarkable. Service was good and they checked on us regularly. It’s in a strip mall, but the atmosphere is typically vibrant and colorful. Recommend and convenient for getting meals before or after a movie at teh adjacent theater.

By the looks of this place, you wouldnt think it was all that great, but if you give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed. Queso is a must on every occasion. I have to stop myself from licking the serving dish. I usually get the shrimp quesadilla… its delicious! Their prices are pretty reasonable and the service is always extremely fast. One of my favorite mexican restaurants!

«When you find a pair of pants that actually fits and you can’t stop staring at your own butt in the dressing room mirror» is the only way to describe the level of satisfaction I got from El Azabache’s drink menu. Marvel at this drink menu. I ordered a medium marg because it was before noon… and you have to take it easy sometimes. It was utterly huge. 20 oz of margarita goodness for about $ 5. I can’t even handle it. El Azabache has a really great and wide selection of food for all sorts. Taco salads and American-ish food for people who don’t realize they are at a Mexican restaurant. Vegetarian options abound. I will never make the mistake of creating my own plate of chile rellenos and ordering two because it was far too much food after pounding a large margarita. The food can often be bland, soupy, and generally lame. It’s hit or miss on the food, but the drinks are so fantastic. I’m torn. El Azabache offers a card that you can scan to gain points for free items. They also have a lunch coupon on Coupons 4 Indy.

Sí, eso ES una gran máquina de chicle! Strip mall Mexican joints. 20 years ago, this town had hardly any. Today? if your arm is halfway decent, it’s hard to throw a rock and not hit one. All things considered, I have to say that El Azabache is a step up from a lot of the ones I have tried. As Kjirsten and Carey said, this is a decent place to hit up before seeing a flick at the nearby AMC theater. We did just that recently. I had the shrimp fajita quesadilla which was gigantic. It was a little light on shrimp(I think five) but filled with vegetables, and not just the usual green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. This one also had broccoli and cauliflower. Good stuff, and not the kind of veggies you see often at strip mall Mexican joints. The salsa is good and the guacamole just OK. Why is it so many Mexican restaurants make crappy guacamole? Honestly, my wife(love ya!) makes much better at home. There is a sign saying margaritas are a dollar off«all day every day». Uhh… doesn’t that just make it «the price?» Overall, I’d say this is a place we’ll hit up again when in the area. Oh, and bring quarters. As I said at the beginning, that IS a big gumball machine!
