Fisher Fish & Chicken

Had the gyro. Was a brand of gyro meat I’ve never had, very lacking in flavor and not as tasty as I’m used to. Was drowned in wanna-​be «tzatziki sauce» that tasted more like warm sour cream than cool cucumber. Pita was almost soggy (good gyro places grill or toast them a bit to prevent that).
I had visited this place because a Google review said they had «authentic mediterranean» gyros. Neither authentic nor good IMO. Was served with fries, which were perfect, leading me to suspect the deep-​fried fare is what keeps this place in business.
I expected a take-​out only hole-​in-​the-​wall and that’s exactly what it was. Ghetto, like the area it’s in. Maybe worth trying if you like deep-​fried fish and chicken, but if you want a gyro this is not the place.

I went here with my friend who was about six month prego, and having hunger pains. She really wanted a fish sandwich so I went along for the first time. We waited around 20 minutes or so for our order. There really isn’t much sitting room so for the most part Fisher’s is carry-​out. The food was so so. I think on a good day it could be great. They definitely need to change the grease traps. Apart from the expensive price, you can get some nice eats here.

This place is a dive, located in a strip mall. No, to call it a strip mall is too generous — it’s just a parking lot with two stores.
There are no tables, only a few wooden chairs, a couple of stools, and a countertop.
So it’s not exactly fancy and I wouldn’t bring a date here under any circumstances.
With that said, the food is excellent. $ 8 plus tax bought me a styrofoam container full of freshly fried goodness.
Two HUGE strips of catfish, flaky and tender on the inside. No hint of fishy flavor, but crisp with a hint of seasoning in the crust. A nicely sized set of French fries, kind of like KFC style. Two pieces of white bread. And a little cup of cole slaw.
All fresh. All good.
So don’t go for the environment — it’s borderline ugly. But if you like tasty, right out of the fryer fish and chips, maybe you’ll like this place.
