I really wanted to love this store. But I left disappointed. I walked in and the girl sitting behind the counter on her laptop just said«Hey.» Then a few minutes later said«What you up to?» I said«Oh just looking.» «k cool.» That was it. Never left the counter, barely even looked up from her laptop. This opinion is coming from a girl who has worked in retail and whose closet has a good mix of cheap thrift store finds and pricier boutique items. If I’m going to pay $ 80 for a jacket, I don’t want to just be paying for a jacket. I want to also be paying for that exceptional customer service. And judging from my experience and the other reviews on here, that is something this shop is lacking.

My friends and I were discussing Girly Hick Boutique– OOPS I mean Girly Chic Boutique– the other day and as I do like to support locally owned boutiques I do not and will not EVER shop at this place. Not only did my friends and have I have bad experience in terms of customer services but the quality of the pricey clothes is not what I would expect. It seems to me that the clothes are for woman that want to dress like little girls; as if they want to dress lie they are under 12. Or they may be appropriate for a barn dance(hence the Girly Hick reference). My friends and I went to the store a few weeks ago and while we were shopping the employee was constantly talking very loudly on her phone while following us and refolding everything we touched. I could hear her talking so very, very loud right over my shoulder and it she literally snatched a shirt from me as I put it back in order to refold it. The employee was nowhere to be found when we were ready to purchase. We called for the employee since she had disappeared. She did not return after 5 minutes and we began looking around some more. A few minutes later she appeared eating and texting, she apologized and giggled saying she was hungry. So we just decided it was time to leave then without purchasing anything. Another friend of mine stated that she bought a dress for over $ 100 and although she didn’t wear it for over a month after she bought it was not good quality; she stated that the hems frayed after the first time wearing. She was denied a refund when trying to return it. She did not want a store credit since she lives in Chicago. So if you are from out of town don’t go there! It will be a horrible experience I am sure. Although I didn’t like the clothes or the nauseating décor-which I still have nightmares about– some may. I guess if you want to look like a grown-up little country girl you may like the stuff! Beware of the staff and prices for low-quality stuff!

I have given this place several chances to redeem itself on a customer service level. Always a fail. Recently my son and I stepped in as I saw a few dresses I liked. Instead of being greeted with a warm hello, we were greeted with«you can’t have food in here». We were carrying almost empty CUPS of frozen yogurt. I understand if they do not want food in there store, but there is a nicer way to approach people. Do not go there. They are rude.

I’m always looking for cute unique clothing shops here in Indy. I don’t like shopping chains, and have been wanting to stop in to Girly Chic since I saw it featured in the paper. They have a large selection and variety of clothing from lots of independent designers. I saw lots of cute things the second I walked In the door. Including the vintage décor. Lots of dresses and skirts and some beautiful silk tops. The prices are just too high. I don’t think I would purchase anything here unless it were on sale. And I wasn’t the only one. There was nothing that I liked under $ 100.00 and I didn’t LOVE any of the items I liked. I have to LOVE Something to spend that kind of money… They had a pair of shorts for $ 90.00. Yep. You could have a seamstress come to your house and make a pair of custom shorts for $ 90. While I might go back and look again if I am in need of a unique piece, it’s not going to be a regular place to shop for me. Think I will stick to N. Rue.

it saddens me when constructive criticism takes a bad turn. I did receive a reply from the owner asking for more details and having written the review on december the 1st, the saturday in question was November 27th. It was in fact at 5:55, not 45 minutes after the store closed. I entered, browsed, waited on the customer to check out before me. I did not pound on the locked door as indicated. and the offer of a free bottle is not what I had hoped for. I will not return, its a shame really for small business to not get simple customer service right. I refuse to be contacted any further by the owner and I hope you look at this as an opportunity to improve the quality of service you give to future clients. this was the owner’s reply a month later: Dear Julie, I am the owner of Girly Chic and am sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience. I have discussed this with the staff and they are simply unaware of any such event. One staffer recalls someone coming to the storeafter we were locked up(45 minutes later?) and knocking on the door only to be told we would reopen the next morning. We often stay late to accommodate customers and, in fact, our sales staff works on commission. I would be receptive to more details in an effort to address this more specifically with the staff. I would also like an opportunity to regain your business and perhaps change your mind about Girly Chic. I can offer you a free Ambre oil and my sincerest apology for this obvious misunderstanding. I am truly sorry you have such a negative feeling about the boutique.

as one of the few independent clothing boutiques in indianapolis, i have to applaud girly chic boutique. clothes are moderately priced/affordable and normally fall under the ‘bohemian’ category — think peasant tops, flowy dresses, and lots of prints. brands carried include free people and the like… and they even carry a few pieces from a spanish line custo barcelona!(i only noticed because i lived in spain for awhile — and i was quite surprised to find the line anywhere in indianapolis). all in all, a gem in the mall/chain-centered indianapolis shopping world, but you won’t find anything here if you’re not into the specific style girly chic offers. also not the best variety/offering in jeans/pants or accessories… better if you’re looking for a cute top or casual sun dress.

Every once in awhile, this place will yield a cute find, but on the whole I find the clothes rather drab and… I don’t know, «downhome» or something. They remind me of what Laura Ingalls Wilder might wear to a barn dance if she lived in modern times. And the girliness on the inside reaches cloying levels. That’s saying a lot coming from someone as girly as me. I also feel that the place is overpriced, but like I said, I’ve been able to find things that suit me if I’m in the mood to dig.

This Broad Ripple boutique beckons shoppers with cutely dressed wire bodices outside the store. Somehow, the outside mannequins always promise a little more than is delivered on the inside. Prices are moderate, but the fit of these clothes is sometimes off – strange since they’re all different kinds of labels. Still, everything here is eye candy, and hidden gems can be found on the sales racks, if you happen to be the body that’ll fit into the offerings.

The Girly Chic Boutique is a wonderful boutique in Broadripple! The owners are super nice the atmosphere of this boutique is friendly, it smells heavenly because the candles they burn and sell are wonderful, I have several of them… in the last year or so they have less expensive clothing lines and a bit younger but still quality, cute stuff. Visit the Girly Chic Boutique, you enjoy the experience! They also sell beautiful chandelier lighting as well.
